Maybe I've not been paying attention, but I feel like the press hasn't been as bad as expected here. Like, there's a lot less "THIS IS CLEARLY CORRUPTING OUR CHILDREN'S MINDS" in the articles I've read than usual. Some, to be sure, but could be worse. Not sure if it's damning to the movie or not.

I've had a similar thought. I'm not sure whether it's more because Slenderman is so obscure or because people are getting tired of the rhetoric after it's already happened with TV, videogames, & various genres of music. In any case, it might (or might not) be different when we're talking about making an "official" feature length film, as opposed to "just" internet videos.

(The sounds fade out)

CUT TO: A camera left on the table faces a television set, not capturing the entire screen, but a majority of it. A news broadcast is being held and the anchor is heading the headlines.

ANCHOR: The body of twenty-seven year old Alex Kralie was found in a disused college on South Creek Road this morning by a caretaker. For more on this we go to our reporter in the field, what can you tell us?

TITLE CARD: Directed by James Moran

The news report goes to a reporter outside the college grounds, with various shots shown of a body being taken away by police and crime scene analysts marking the area.

REPORTER: Yes well as you can see they've sealed off the campus to the general public and are now analyzing the scene to try and establish what happened here.

ANCHOR: And have they made any statements as of yet?

TITLE CARD: Executive producer Craig Connolly

REPORTER: Yes, earlier the local Sheriff said they were treating the death as suspicious and viscous.

ANCHOR: So they're not ruling out murder?

TITLE CARD: Cinematography by Ulf Soderqvist

REPORTER: No, but they're interested in speaking with a man seen recently in the area, he's described as being over 5 foot, black hair and regular build. Earlier I spoke with the caretaker about the scene.

Footage shown of a brief interview done with the caretaker.

CARETAKER: Well I was just tidin' up and found that one of the buildin's was open n' I thought Jacob had left it open...when he said he didn't I got mighty suspicious y'know, you don't get much folk comin' here nowadays. I went lookin' around to see if anyone was in there...

REPORTER: And that's when you found him?

TITLE CARD: Screenplay by Ian Shorr

CARETAKER: Yeah, first I thought he was another boy that was here a few months ago, was looking for the film department or somethin'.....

REPORTER: That was earlier when I spoke with the caretaker. The police have taken the body to the local hospital and a postmortem will be carried out by the local state pathologists tomorrow afternoon. For more on the case, keeping watchi-(a hand comes in and picks up the camera on the table, the handling disrupts the audio and the camera operator puts the camera on himself)

TITLE CARD: RICK OTTO

CAMERA OPERATOR: Hey, turns out it was on the whole time!

(A woman from a room behind him calls out to him)

WOMAN: But was it charging?

CAMERA OPERATOR: Yeah, left the tv on too.

TITLE CARD: Doug Jones

WOMAN: Anything good on?

CAMERA OPERATOR: Dunno, news is on, they found some guy dead in your old college I think.

WOMAN: You serious?

The camera operator turns the camera to the woman walking into the room.

TITLE CARD: Blair Bomar

WOMAN: Hey, get that thing out of my face! I don't want a camera pointed a me 24-7, there's some whackos out there.

The cameraman points the camera back at the television.

CAMERA OPERATOR: There sure are.

CUT TO BLACK:

TITLE CARD: THE OPERATOR

Clearly there are some inconsistencies here, as Alex was taken away by TO but imagine if you would that he was dropped off again like all the other bodies?

Just want to ask something. Is this real or you just make it up?

Made it up, I study film and screenwriting so I know the lingo and format.

Just one problem: the body of Alex had been taken away and I suppose, as when "Bruce" died, all records of him would have been lost. Razz

no no, my bad. I did make the inconsistency in the writing. I did write it before 87 so maybe it could be Jessica's body?

EDIT: Or Tim's body as he likely an hero.

So what are the chances this movie is really coming out this year?

dwindling, I was hoping for a statement from Mosaic once Mh finished but things have been quiet for way too long. We're due more activity on the MH channel so expect that to have a epilogue to the feature or something. But if we don't hear anything about it before the summer is over I'd be losing hope fast.

This movie better still be in production.

You'd think Troy would have given an update about SOMETHING though.

strange to hear nothing about it

Maybe in seven months they'll say they've forgotten the whole thing.

Aw man, I saw a new post and I thought something had happened. Seriously, I want this movie to do well. I want it to be amazing. Yes, I have my reservations. Yes, I am fearful that this will be like The Last Airbender. But damnit guys, the movie Prometheus means we'll never have Mountains of Madness on the big screen, so a good Slenderman movie (I mean, uh, Operator) is the best we can hope for.

Actually, del Toro says he's still trying to make it, so we could have it after all. I'm currently reading At the Mountains of Madness, and I think it would make a great movie.

seriously though. Troy said at the last panel they didn't know any more than we did. And that once they know something we'll know, unless there's an NDA holding them back, which is understandable. Only it's under 2 months to Halloween and there's nothing to be heard from the studio nor THAC, I'm not hopeful. My prediction of there being a statement once MH ended was a dud, so Idk.

Hi to everyone!
I don't see any post about the updates of the director James Moran in this topic, so maybe you could be interested in these screens Smile

I was looking everyone for Moran's twitter, not very helpful that named it under a completely different production company but anyway.

It's really interesting that these posts are recent, at the same time Troy said quite some ago that they were in the editing/reshoot stage, even if they only started now or had to do it again it doesn't look too good. A halloween release is still too optimistic.

EDIT: also notice how he keeps talking about polishing the movie in the run up to the final days but after the shoot day and editing session the tweets about The Operator completely stop.
