#3

#3 - The photo on flickr is of a protest in Austin outside of where a showing of The Institute happening. The man with the white wig, sunglasses and the # sign is Spencer McCall (the creator of the Documentary).

Original Post
Thread

I was reading an article "Down the Rabbit Hole with Spencer McCall's the Institue, "the below quote struck my eye:

Jeff: If they want to, they can discover artifacts and hidden pieces of media that will reveal the truth and also offer them a thread to pull on into future experiences. There's a thread.

Lost travellers

I too have been vigilant with keeping my eyes open in and around San Francisco. Have found some amazing things, but alas nothing leading me towards the degrees of Latitude.

I don't know if the society has started to recruit yet or not. That being said, I find it interesting that many vocal people on this forum (review the posts and see) no longer participate. Yes, it could be they have moved on. Or perhaps, they have been granted entrance and are no longer at liberty to speak here.

Coincidence?

Yeah.... or..... there's just nothing happening to talk about.

I don't think games can 'interfere' with people posting on this forum, if that's the right word. If it's in-game, it's up for discussion. The only thing off limits is meta/behind the scenes stuff.

Anyone still active/lurking?

I'm a noob, both to the site and to Oakland - hoping to get involved!

Following sparkbugg's clues about the side hatch, went back to nonchalance, and found their "side hatch" website, but no rabbit hole to fall down...what am I missing?

Haven't been any posts for a few weeks...did everyone get inducted? Very Happy

Laissez faire...

I have to admit I've already spent way too many hours following leads from this board, conducting my own searches, scouring CL, forcing mental connections, etc. all with the end goal of cracking the 4/10/4 code on the latitude site - as I'm sure many of you have done as well. It finally occurred to me that nonchalance gave solid clues for the jejune institute, so it's unlikely that we will get it just by (even very educated) guessing. Anyone else still trying to crack it, or did others already switch to the waiting game?

I'll be near the Mission this week, so I'll scout around and see if there's anything that appears nonchalancey posted around.

Bored

I, for one, haven't been inducted. And I own www.thelatitudesociety.com.

Earlier, I tried to entertain myself and others, so wanted to see if others could figure out that the 4th website that Everly Tsay registered.... was Dabblewood.com.

Yes, it is the name of their production company, but it is also sounds like a place.

Now either it is part of The Latitude Society, or it is a distraction from it. My guess? Jeff has moved on to other things.

The emperor probably has no clothes.

Yet the longing continues.

No longer bored

Turns out that I spoke too soon with my last comment.

That same day I posted, the FB page and nonchalance blog drew attention to this article:

http://www.popmatters.com/column/186575-neither-here-nor-there/

It is written by Josh Gryniewicz is a "fictional journalist, which is not just to say a journalist who writes fiction." Which may be to say that he is not a real journalist. He never posted on popmatters prior to that, and his blog was only started last month.

His linked-in profile (http://www.linkedin.com/in/jgryniewicz) puts him in Chicago, working for National Runaway Safeline.

Jeff Hull has connections to Chicago (note the address of his family's foundation: http://www.hullfamilyfoundation.org/about.asp)

Wasn't Eva a runaway?

Anyway, the article calls a lot of attention to The Game, and even conveniently reminds us when The Institute came out (notice below the poster image: Oct 11, 2013).

The Game started for Nick on his birthday, which happens to be Oct 11th.

Perhaps the Institute is the start of the game for us viewers.

Nonchalance even tags the article with #CRS (the name of the game company in The Game).

Whether this article is a clue or not, I am choosing to view it as such.

I may have to watch The Game again.

There is no spoon. Perhaps we are the spoon.

I posted a link to that same article down in the UF archives for The Institute. I did go looking for more articles under "Simulacra" just because I like that sort of thing. Came to a dead end and thought nothing more of it -- until you brought it up. I've just spent the past few hours digging around and found this fellow's family, old photos, and a ton of writing. If this guy isn't "real", he's certainly based on some deep cover.

I sure hope this was a good use of my afternoon.

To 01<import

Dear 01<Import (I will PM you next to invite you to come read this).

I am posting this publicly so the community has a sense of what is going on.

I am not sure what your intent was in posting photos of my sister-in-law and my daughter without their (or my) consent.

Please remove them.

I assume you googled SparkBugg and figured out my name is Matt Fleming, then found my Facebook page and pulled a couple of photos to post in here.

Perhaps you were trying to be funny, or clever, or provocative. Perhaps you are upset with me. I am curious to know more if you are willing to be more explicit. My initial experience is one of being violated, and my urge is to be angry. But I want to reserve my anger until I am able to gather more data.

However, both individuals didn't give you permission to post those photos publicly, so I am uncomfortable allowing them to remain posted. So I am asking you for a favor in removing them.

Because you created this profile the day you made your post, I suspect anonymity is important to you, and that your post must have required some courage. So I wouldn't be surprised if you don't respond. But if you were trying to make a point, I am thinking it wasn't so clear.

Anyway, it does seem noteworthy that the forums were down for about a week, and then went back up on the 24th. You created your profile and posted that very day (I think perhaps a few minutes after an admin made a post). To me, that seems like great timing, or maybe suggests a sense of urgency.

I have noticed you, and have responded. I hope that even if you don't share more with me, you kindly remove the photos.

Thanks,

Matt

Edit: After getting a PM from Everfalling on the 16th (just read it), i have decided to practice what I preach: I have gone back and removed some info from my previous posts that could be unrelated to the game.

I will go back to drinking my latte.

More Edit: I think I see now. I mentioned Jeff's sister and his kid in a previous post. So I have it done to me. Touche? Perhaps. But perhaps this is a warning to us all....be careful where you tread. There are clues, and then there are secrets, and you will only be able to determine which is which after the fact. And probably in a publicly shaming and intimidating way.

This could also explain why no Society members are talking. If I get treated this way for searching and sharing, imagine what could happen if you know something and share.

This is reminding me of the reason why I didn't try to join the Freemasons.
