Clues and interesting things found in Natalie's blog...

LOST TERROR BLANKS ALL

Natalie overheard someone tell Xavier:

Quote:
I need some kind of context to decipher LOST TERROR BLANKS ALL.

BRA VEE TONG US

A note from Peter to Natalie:

Quote:
As I reclined, I opened the cork and read the note inside: BRA VEE TONG US. Yes, Peter Lindman is full of surprises.

Towel Monograms:

Quote:
Asked him what the monograms on his towels stood for. He claimed they were already here at the chateau when he arrived.

Dinner Menu

Natalie found these under a loose floor plank:

Quote:
In the box, I found an old photograph and what appeared to be a menu. I took the box into the light of the kitchen. Dusted off the photograph. It was this eclectic group of people seated stiffly around a formal dinner table. Must have been taken years ago. Behind the group stood Steinitz (I've seen pictures of him around the chateau) and a young man who somehow seemed out of place. Something about the young man seemed familiar though.

The symbol of a beetle topped the engraved menu, which read:

First Course

Specialty Salad (first originated in Mexico in the 1920s)

Second Course

Kippered Herring
Escargot
Paté
Aubergine Risotto
Antipasto

Third Course

Rosemary Pheasant under Glass
Pecan Encrusted Trout in a Savoury Lavender Butter Glaze
New Potatoes with Truffles
Green Beans with Almonds

Dessert

Fresh mountain cranberries with whipped sweet cream

Why would anyone save an old menu? I tossed it back in the box and it flipped over. On the back were the letters: OHPS LUNSHUK! OHPS LUNSHUK! Definitely some kind of clue. I snatched up the menu and picture, closed the box, and replaced the floorboard. Like Xavier, I can be selective about what clues I share.

BOOKMARK (see pic below)

Quote:
How apropos that I turned the page to the poem, "The Raven." Just then, a bookmark fluttered to the floor.

As I picked it up, I was puzzled by the dancing stick figures and the letters U L DS. Peculiar. I decided to keep it. Just in case.

Grid Piece

Natalies site has a red and white grid piece (see below) (original filename = 102904)

This may already be solved somewhere in the blog entries, I haven't gotten through all of them yet, but I believe the message of the dancing men is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The route leads there

If this is already posted somewhere, please be gentle with the trout. Very Happy

The back of the menu solve:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you ROT-19 the text, it reads HAIL ENGLAND! HAIL ENGLAND!

Looks like a new puzzle on Natalie's blog:

Quote:

I asked Xavier if he was familiar with the Caesar code. He responded disdainfully, "An elementary code, my dear. I hope your clue's more challenging than that."

I told him I thought he'd probably find it more challenging than he might suspect. Then I slipped him the final clue. Mike and Peter had created it and I'd copied it onto a napkin. It read: JR 47 PLOHV ZHVW WR 533 VRXWK OLQFROQ.

Trying to organize some stuff

Quote:
And when I do, I remember Keen and everything falls into perspective.

is this a hint for something?

Keen is the name of the falcon that Peter gets-- it hates Natalie.

There is a falcon in the commercial...

She did mention that she and Keen didn't get along at all.

Also another clue may be that Peter picked his name, Keen, because of his sharp eye
