The 5ver? What did I miss?
Here ya go. If the direct link doesn't work, it's the third post down on the first page of the thread.
If Scumbag is interested, we need to include his as well.

You don't have to if you don't want to; I made mine to be an actual 5ver, so I'm more concerned on getting mine on the 5ver websie (given the reaction mine got here and all). Put it on if you want.
The extent of what I'll prolly be able to do for this is sign my name or summin, and scan it in.

An idea for the audio "thank you's": designate a central number folks can call where they can leave a message for the PMs. The person who volunteers to collect the messages can then record them off their machine/VM and create a WAV or WAVs of the thank you's. Include them on a CD with catch phrases from the site, or write-in thank you's.

Could angelo or buzzkill do it? They've only been our central docking station for phone conversations for what... twelve weeks now?

I've recently purchased a book of translated poems, and I thought this one especially pertinent. It's by a great Spanish poet, Antonio Machado, and translated by an also great man: Robert Bly.
Edit: Btw, i forgot to mention that the book is The Winged Energy of Delight: Selected Translations by Robert Bly.
Quote:
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt -marvellous error!-
that a spring was breaking
out in my heart.
I said: Along which secret aqueduct,
Oh water, are you coming to me,
water of a new life
that I have never drunk?
Last night, as I was dreaming,
I dreamt -marvellous error!-
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.
Last night, as I was sleeping
I dreamt -marvellous error!-
that a fiery sun was giving
light inside my heart.
It was fiery because I felt
warmth as it from a hearth,
and sun because it gave light
and brought tears to my eyes.
Last night, as I was sleeping
I dreamt -marvellous error-
that it was God I had
here inside my heart.
Today, as I was reading,
I thought -marvelous error-
that there are beekeepers here now
in my heart.

What a great find. Wow!
I used to trawl through Bly for stuff to do for verse reading at speech tournaments in high school.

i've made two ILB-related wallpapers so far - one is a general thank you to the PMs, and another is one I made specifically for Jane, a tribute to Dana. I want to put the general thank you one in any "pictures"-esque section of what we give out to the PMs.
I'm planning what I'll say in my voice message to the PMs. I can't wait.
Here's a link to the thank-you paper - I posted it in the ILB Desktop Themes thread previously. PMs and Beekeepers alike might enjoy it.

The recording does NOT have to be the widest frequency tonally, as long as it is free of white noise, etc. I would be glad to help anyone who has a desire to record a message but lacks the means. I work in a recording studio, so we also have a gentner set up for recording phone conversations very cleanly. If you want, I can come to the studio after work hours and record/clean up your call... all you have to do is plan what you want to say. Anyway, if anyone is interested, I am more than glad to volunteer. I love all the ideas suggested so far... the picture collage sounds great as does the thank you honey jars. If you want to record, PM me and we will try to coordinate a time to do it.

Would the Windows packaged sound recorder be able to record a clean enough .wav file? If not, is there a (free or cheap) one that someone could recommend?

I'd love to record a wav for the PMs (though I'd have to acquire a microphone, first ). If it's all right, I'd also like to include my 5ver... it was meant as an acknowledgment of the PMs' hard work as much as a humorous parody.
You got props for the 5ver in the PM chat.

what if we added a bit of production value to the thank you audio files? Maybe have one central contact take all the files and compile them all together into one giant thank you from the community, with underscore music, etc... again, I am glad to volunteer, if you all want to go that route... if not, hey I am glad to go along with whatever everyone wants to do to express gratitude... I just want to thank the PM's myself with everyone else for the terrific ride

Myself I can't really think of anything I can record, so I think I'm going to write something texty and use that instead. I'll send it your way when I'm done, Thoth.

since some prefer text to audio.. a flash presentation could incorporate both... just a thought. I know enough in flash to put one together, but nowhere near the skill level I bet a lot of you folks are.

I dunno about hyping up the production value too much...I think it might be nice to just browse and click through a CD full of goodies when they feel like strolling through our dedications.
Maybe we could agree to do one flash movie, or heck, just a DivX file, with a montage of pictures and an agreed upon voiceover speech, sort of a collective "Thank You From Us" at the root of the CD, and invite them to peruse through our individual gifts.
