Hmm. "The lesson is in the crawlspace". Two possible interpretations here:

1) Noah needs to look under his house. I know he said his house doesn't have a crawlspace, but that doesn't mean someone-or something- couldn't have installed one when he wasn't looking.

2) He's going to have to use a crawlspace to get into someone else's house. Like say, a certain grandpa that has a certain journal his grandson needs.

For the whole lesson is in a crawlspace mystery.

Shot in the dark, maybe we're getting the wrong idea for the word crawlspace?

Like instead of thinking about a basement where we can't stand up in, what if the lesson is just in a "space in which we crawl?" Like the air duct from die-hard.

Might not even be that, maybe it's something symbolic like this "rabbit hole".....Habit's house maybe? Evidently he IS some evil rabbit demon and the house could very well be is his "hole."

And we can't say that HABIT giving Noah the "how-to" on the mark of severance wasn't a lesson of some sorts. So I believe Noah does have everything he needs, he just needs to take what he learned/recorded from that "lesson."

Another shot in the dark, Maybe he needs to add a second mark of severance to Milo's journal and the key to cancel out the ones that are already on them? Like since the journal and the key are being controlled. To put it simply, the key isn't unlocking the journal BECAUSE the symbol is on them. maybe putting another symbol on the journal AND the key will rob the control of the journal and the key from the person who wrote the symbol on there and allow Noah to use the key to unlock the journal.

tl;dr version: I think putting a second symbol on both the key and the journal will cancel out the 'hacking' done by the 1st symbols on the key and the journal, there by, allowing the journal to be unlocked and opened.

(I am just writing down ideas as i come up with them so I maaaaay not entirely make sense in this post. If i don't, I apologize.)
