[Trailhead?] BMRF?
Something's happening at Black Mesa... Again

Probably nothing to do with Valve, but a recent tweet from L4DRedemption points at the following site:

http://bmrf.us

And while there's an EAS up on there (with interesting audio), the images folder has a few interesting things:

Anyone else want to take a look?

Interesting, shall we let the hype train commence now or wait? Because it seems to me like an announcement regarding HL3 is incoming.

I believe those images were already on that site and the only new thing is the emergency broadcast audio and image. Here is a link to the Wiki for the previous ARG - http://thepizzaisalie.wikia.com/wiki/The_Pizza_Code_Mystery_ARG_Wiki

Probably not. Black Mesa was a fan-made remake of the original Half-Life game. There's nothing connecting this to HL3.

So this is interesting. Quick inspect of the page revealed this:

Code:

                 ?MMMI
            MMMMMMMNNNNNNNN
         OMMMMNNN.  . ONNNNNNN

   DDD         $$77 III?         ,??~
   DD8        $77I.  ??++        =++
   D888      77II.    ===.       ~~~

     OZ$$              .      ,,,,
      $$7I?                  ....
       :I?++=             ......
         +==~~::,,    ........
            ::,,............
                ........

With the page formatting, that is the HL logo for sure. Lack of a 3 in the top-right is sad, but reasonable. Could be something fun regardless.

Will proceed for image-dump of files from the directory.

Okay, so some interesting stuff. Good graphic design on the images, implying a point to it all; probably not just a teaser.

Link to the wiki page about the dam in question:

Images of Interest:

The EASfile now on background-

The Headline files, info about BlackMesa-

HEV, an image of the Hazardous Environment Suit-

The headers for the About page and the Research page-

Sector C Labs, where Gordon works-

Some researchers working, could be filler-

A man holding the Gravity-Gun [Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator]-

This one is particularly interesting; the accuracy and effort put into ARG props is often indicative of importance.

I have some more background to share, and a request for assistance. The site is run by the Black Mesa Source devs, and has previously had a role in the long defunct/dead/stuck 'Pizza Code Mystery' ARG. These images found in the /img/ folder are from the prior version of the site (which was 'just for fun'), and probably not relevant at this moment (even the parts that were used in the old ARG were behind an 'employee login' screen).

What I want to ask some help with is an analysis of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC8sIXV2WeQ. This might be a 'hijack' or just a misunderstanding, or it could be the next step.

Okay then; ran both the files on the channel through SSTV and Spectrogram, doesn't seem to be anything that stands out immediately. It seems more likely that the two are videos put out by the sound-dev of the project, given the musical nature of the first and the SFX sound of the later. Likely for use in the game.

In the 'Act 1' audio, there is a mono sample used that somewhat stands out (found by tone cancellation, inverting one L/R side of the track). I feel like it must be extractable somehow, to some degree, but have no idea how (or rather, no idea what it is I'm doing wrong).
