I wonder if any of the games featured are hints about the guise of Frog Fractions 2?

Prince of Persia, Gradius, Deal or No Deal clones?

It seems a little obvious, but in hindsight so does 0451!
For what it's worth... Jim has been appearing on the Video Games Hot Dog podcast for the last ~several episodes... he does confirm a familiarity with Gradius on the latest one. VGHD is from the Asymmetric Publications gang... and they also shipped the Frog Fractions 2 Kickstarter physical rewards. They deny any other connection to FF2 in this thread, BUT WOULDN'T THAT BE WHAT YOU WANT US TO THINK?? They have been doing mysterious contract work for the past several months, and they keep hinting at being something which will not quite be "released", not quite be "sold" but somehow will be "delivered" (when jig is up??)

frogfractions2.com

I just watched all of the video - after about 10 minutes, it becomes a (quite interesting) Q&A with Jim and Rachel. I didn't notice anything weird, other than it ends mid sentence.

Unrelated, but frogfractions2.com is slightly bizarre (literally fractioned frogs).

The description tag is "Learning about fractions 2 is fun!"... the YouTube account of the video has been around for years, and has quite a few really weird seemingly educational style videos featuring a bad CG frog.

It might be nothing to do with any of this though!

When I go to frogfractions2.com, I instead get linked to this game, which is reminiscent of the original frog fractions. Does frogfractions2.com just link to different websites at different times?

The person who made the linked frog in prauge made it in 2008 and has a host of other really weird games. I'm not really sure if it's directly related. It would be useful if we could know all the other websites frog fractions 2 linked to.

Whoa, holy crap! frogfractions2.com DEFINITELY didn't used to link to a kongregate game. Unless I just missed the specific times, I remember because I checked that site many times, trying to look and the source code and find out who made the video and stuff.

forgfractions2.com used to just link to plain old "frogfractions2.com" not somewhere else. It used to have a single youtube video embedded in it, which was some crappy "educational video" by some weird Dr. so and so guy. Can't quite remember his name. Looked like he might've been a real person or something though, I think I googled his name and some university stuff popped up. So maybe the site wasn't made by him? If i remember correctly, the WhoIs data for frogfractions2.com just had bull like "123 abc lane" or something for the addresses and the like.

Below the embedded youtube video was the text "3/4"

The background on the site was a picture of a bunch of frog legs chopped up, like sliced in half so that you could see the veins and stuff. Uncooked by the look of them. The picture itself seems to have been taken from some Wikipedia thing.

About the game you sent, at the "end" of the game there is a reference to "$exxy and Zyzzle" clothing or something. And another game by that user is "Sexxy and Zyzzle Attack" which, on the opening screen thing, says to email "sexxyandzyzzle@yahoo.com" to buy their products. Sent off an email to them in the hopes that it leads somewhere.

Just found this tweet by Jim.
Quote:

Here I am trying to decide what amusing .moe domain to register and I discover that somebody's already registered http://frogfractions2.com .

This was back in November.
So, we know that Jim was looking to register that domain, and we know that since November the domain has changed to something frog fractions related.
Coincidence? We'll see...

I think we might be on to something with this frogfractions2.com to kongregate thing.

On the profile of the guy who made the game (37 male acccording to his profile) he has a fan and a friend named "EmilyG" , i mean the same person, just that they are a fan and a friend of blahdada.

On EmilyG's profile, her description says

"I founded this site with my brother Jim. Playing games and calling it 'research' is the best job I've ever had. Oh, wait, I don't get a paycheck. Maybe it's not a job. Anyway, it's fun. Hope you like the site."

Hmm, could be a coincidence, but...

Also note that at the end of "fog in prague," the only name that shows up as a high score and a 'comment' is "S&Z" with a high score of 690.

Damn, nevermind, I think that "EmilyG" is "Emily Geer," who, according to wikipedia, founded Kongregate with her brother, "Jim Geer."

Just a coincidence after all... :'(

Whois Lookup

The Whois look up returns a bunch of bs information, like the zip code being 12345, but it does have a huge clue.

The email address the website is registered under is jimSPLATgoombas.org and goombas.org is jim crawford's blog. So it's definitely not a coincidence. I'm not sure if he's just messing with us by redirecting the website to random frog-based things, though.

Ooo! Nice.

Hmm, I don't think that jimSPLATgoombas.org was the admin name before the website changed from that education video thing, so maybe Jim purchased the domain name from the original owner? Darn it. This ARG seems to have more red herrings than I don't know what. Could also be a clue though I suppose...

Damn, the old version of the site isn't up on archive.org any more. I might have a cached version on another computer, but all I can see from my history now is that the title was "Fractions of Frogs". Anyone still got the link to the YouTube video that was embedded?

Prodly the puffin

During the video, jim had a nametag with the word Riccardo on it.

This is a reference to a game he made: twinbeard.com/118_prodly-the-puffin

Prodly the puffin is itself a reference to this web comic: https://web.archive.org/web/20070505104459/http://lightning.prohosting.com/~prodly/
which is unfortunately down, but still available on archive.

Prodly the puffin is, in turn, a reference to pokey the penguin, which is available here: http://www.yellow5.com/pokey/archive/. Also, in pokey the penguin, riccardo is instead called gustavo.

I'm not sure if any of this is related, but can one of the genies here check if the prodly the puffin game is hiding anything?

Secondly, I took a closer look at stinky.mp4. During the video, we can see the frogs working visa, and there are a couple things of note.

First off, it says that the frogs name is Bartholomew Salience. I'm assuming this is referring to an important person named bartholomew, but I'm not sure who that would be.

Secondly, it says the he lives on 129(4?)5 Bug Street, Insectopolis. I doubt this means anything, 1295 may be a clue though.

Lastly, and most importantly, his signature says "Prout". I looked up the name prout, and I came up with Louis Beethoven Prout, a biologist. He was the foremost authority on geometer moths, which I'm guessing are the moths depicted in frog fractions. His father, ebenezer proust was also a musician, maybe one of the songs in the arg is attributed to him?

Can anyone recognize the song in stinky.mp4, I was unable to, and knowing the song title may be an important clue.

Interesting connection. I decompiled the game and didn't find much of interest, but I really only ctr+f'ed for things like "bread" and "frog". Feel free to search through the code.

Frog Fractions 2

So uhh... I got an email from humble bundle with a download page to Frog Fractions 2. The game download isn't available yet, but the Remix/Tribute album was. I just downloaded it, and as far as I can tell, I don't see anything with information, but I'll upload the album cover. I'm not going to upload the soundtrack though, out of respect to Jim though, and I hope you guys understand. http://i.imgur.com/tiEpz9Y.jpg

It definitely looks like Jim purchased frogfractions2.com from the previous owner. The whois entry didn't have Jim's goombas.org addy before.
It looks like he also purchased frogfractions.com, as that used to be a very grey site with no frogs. The internet is a strange place.

Gradius features in both videos. In the original Frog Fractions, the boss just after the asteroid section is a Gradius homage.

This is probably stretching it... but Gradius has a sister series called Salamander - and Salamanders prey on insects. A rival amphibian to our lovable hero?

 Origin of Recipie13

Please dont die on me! ;(

Anyway, I found out the origin of the text in recipie13. Have no idea why its there though. Confused

Info retrieved from http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/180668#poem

from Rubaiyat: "A Book of Verses underneath the Bough"
by Omar Khayaam

"A Book of Verses underneath the Bough,
A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread--and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness--
Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!"

Any idea if Rubaiyat could be connected somehow?

Spectrogram?

Has anyone considered running the Frog Fractions Reimagined album through a spectrogram?
