I think that with the short nature of the entries, a line like the one about Jessica having dreams about being watched as a child isn't just a throwaway line. Now, whether or not they meant it to mean that she had been visited by TO as a child or not, it sure seems to point to that.

That would then bring up the question of whether or not Amy was also visited by TO as a child, like Tim and possibly Jessica. If so, I find it somewhat interesting that Alex surrounded himself with people that were haunted by TO.

I agree. The comment by Jessica seems too specific and uncommon to me - If the writers weren't suggesting that she'd been visited as a child, why did they mention that she was a child at all? They could have said that she was simply being stalked in the woods...which in reality might be more creepy, since that's literally what happens to her in Entry #76.

Off-topic, I always thought it would've been interesting if all of the cast (as children) had been haunted by the Operator, sort of like Stephen King's "It". Perhaps Jay could have gradually uncovered something they did in the past which 'summoned' the Operator. One of the creepiest qualities of the Slender Man is his abduction of children - a frightening concept I feel Marble Hornets could have taken better advantage of.

I don't think it's ever said how far it is explicitly. From Entry #27 we know that Jay doesn't know Rosswood or the area at all so I'd take that to mean quite far away (as in he doesn't recognise any route numbers.)

In Entry #69 Jay and Tim are driving back to CollegeTown, and they take a pit stop, and they both complain about being tired of driving The JayText then states "After a few days of driving, Tim and I finally arrived back in the area where we used to live." Unless they're really bad at driving, that's got to be around 1,000 miles or so.

It's never explicitly stated how far away the towns are. A few times Jay seems to suggest that it's pretty far. One thousand miles could be done in a day even with a small amount of sleep. But I also figured that the "few days of driving" were done to retrace their steps and find landmarks that may be obscure. You can eat up half a day even in a small area doing that.

My apologies if this has already been discussed.

OOG, was it ever confirmed why Trosephim used "The Operator" instead of "Slender Man"?

Yes, though I don't remember the source at the moment. It may have been on the season one commentary.

I see. Thanks, I'll listen for it next time I've got the commentaries playing. (One can only go so long without revisiting Trosephim's awful jokes told during the 'ToTheArk' entries.)

Going entirely on my memory (which is sometimes faulty), I believe Troy's official stance was that they wanted to use a different name, since it's not supposed to be a carbon copy of the original Slender Man posts, but instead simply inspired by them.

He says something like that, but he also says, "Oh yeah, we call our Slenderman The Operator, don't we?" at one point.

So I guess it's just cementing that Their Slenderman Is Different.

Actually, was it ever confirmed that the Doctor's office place was just a General Practitioners surgury, or that it was more along the lines of a Mental Health clinic? If it was the latter, then I can see an increase of likelihood that they may have gotten to know eachother from there than it would were it just a regular doctors surgury. And on top of that, if they were both going to a Mental Health Clinic, then it is quite plausable that they were both in the Hospital at some point too.

In case you're still wondering, I started re-watching Season 3, and in Entry #53 (1:50), Jay confirms that: "The only doctor's office down the street from there turned out to be a mental health clinic".

Thanks for confirming. There's still the possibility that the title influenced the story later on, mind you.

Thanks for that. Smile I'd completely forgotten. I really need to get on with my thorough re-watch. Coffee

I've always liked the therory that everyone (Tim, Jay, Jessica, Alex, Brian etc.) all grew up in the hospital. Their memories of it were shady because of TO. It would've worked because it would've explained the lack of back stories and families. Like how no one else could tell Jay where he's been for 7 months. He doesn't talk to his family? It would've worked and been one hell of a twist.

That would've been a really interesting direction to take the story in! Jay even says to Tim in Entry #75: "I don't remember what I did before all this happened." One theory could be that they were haunted by the Operator before they were committed to the hospital, which would lend substance to Entry #37:

Interestingly, in the 'Slender: The Arrival' universe, it's been confirmed that a woman summoned the Slender Man, and he in turn took her children from her, presumably to use as proxies, which is similar to the theory that Tim brought the Operator to the hospital and spread it to the other patients, perhaps proxy-fying them. (I understand that Marble Hornets is set in a different universe from 'Slender: The Arrival', but since they are both written by Trosephim, I feel this is relevant enough to mention.) In case anyone's curious, here's the confirmation of 'Woman <3 Slender Man' (15:45 onward):

Not a fan of the Final Fantasy VIII approach. Never was. Even in Final Fantasy VIII. "Oh, we all grew up together and Edea was our nanny!!"

Sorry, it was bad then and it's bad now.. But hey, you can have that little fantasy if you want because hey, those details don't matter to this series.

No direct evidence really, but it wouldn't be the first time Trosephim broke the fourth wall.

Just wanted to mention that in a way referring to the viewership is not really breaking the fourth wall, because the viewership is already built into the story. Tim himself goes onto YouTube, and so does Alex I think, to view the whole series; they're not pretending it's not a YouTube series; they're part of the family of viewers themselves.
Just to say.
