Monkahboy - 1. What are some ideas from Marble Hornets that ended up getting scrapped?

MHTroy - "Skully" was originally going to be the masked version of Jay. We instead scrapped that. Skully is still out there though.........

Old news. We learned and discussed that months ago. (Not to be a dick, just saying, this is already in another thread somewhere.)

The fact that they say he's still out there makes me think he could appear in the new series.

Although I'm pretty sure they intended to scrap the idea forever and said that just to preserve the ambiguous atmosphere, I can see them reintroducing Skully in the new series just to please the fans. So, guys, we should start trending #GiveSkullyAChance or something on Twitter.

Did we ever ascertain why in the hell anybody was depicted with masks at all?

As a matter of fact, all Skully fans out there, my brothers and sisters, let's all add #GiveSkullyAChance to our Unfiction signatures!
I bet Troy will check Unforums when the first episode of the new series is released.

On the reddit thing they said something along the lines of them not always wanting to be seen.
It seems like basically the Operator alters your mental state, and then if it does it enough you lose who you originally were. In Tim's case he fluctuated between a stable self and a lost self, in Hoody's case it seemed permanent. Why there's a difference is never explained, although I have a couple of theories.
Basically though, the mask probably represents a loss of identity.

Which is ironic when you think about it, the mask is the most distinctive thing separating Tim and Masky. It's Masky's identity.

It's Tim's lack of identity in that state.

Well said DHawk! These are basically my thoughts on the masks as symbols in the story.

Thats what I've always thought too.
Thats why Entry#84 was actually a really sad one if you think about it. Brian held onto that tape the entire time because it was the last thing he could remember himself by. It was the only remaining way to have some sort of identity.
And him watching that tape and seeing the traffic lights light up like eye holes is what made him mask himself and hint at stuff with the same type of light.

I always thought Masky was like Jekyll and Hyde. Both Tim and Jekyll can turn into their other selves without taking anything and they have to keep taking something to stay normal.
