I instantly think of Umberto Eco, author of Foucault's Pendulum and The Name of the Rose, among others.

Probably a false lead but found this

A book called Unthinking Thinking which compares & contrasts thinking between Umberto Eco & Vaihinger

If you ARE new to this PM (i.e., you didn't play Vanessa Atalanta, the Ministry of Argon, or Fifteen Days of Darkness, all back in 2010), feel free to ask about the gist of those games...not sure if those old threads are still around here.

I'd appreciate some background, also. I'm new to all of this so I think I'm officially confused...

Although part of this is my fault since I've been hesitant to actually add Callum on fb (I was just checking his page for updates/solving puzzles on my own before I decided to really join in). But since you all are familiar with the PM, I guess it can't hurt.

Also, thank you for the wiki Dreamerblue! Smile

OK, Callum messaged me yesterday to tell me that he had an extensive library and if i had any other requests to let him know. I asked for any other book/author recommendations similar to Armitage, and maybe some similar to those he first sent me. this is the reply i received this morning:

"Similar to Armitage - Tom Stoppard is a playwright you might like, whilst poets such as Byron and Shelley also are of a more romantic vein like Blake... AS for the really obscure, you'd have to talk to Lucy - she was less mainstream and more alternative".

since i mentioned i've been sick he also recommended me some more "natural" treatments and told me i should ask Lucy, who knows "all the universal cures". a google search for this phrase gave me a hit of Panacea, the Greek goddess of "universal remedy" but wasn't really able to find a link between her and the other Roman gods and goddesses previously mentioned so not sure about that.

i edited the wiki to reflect the conversations that have been going on on my end. thank you dreamer for starting off the wiki for us!

Re: Klondike

Keep checking klondike, by the way, because Lucy is still updating it when new people ask questions.

WWW..., 2015...

"Kernow" is Cornish for Cornwall (where Armitage's "Eclipse" is set). Also, none of the three eclipses that took place in 1666 were visible from London, so it's definitely the Great Fire.

Say, did anyone see the total lunar eclipse early this morning?

I am so tempted to start asking more questions under fake names... but I won't. Truth is awfully important to Lucy, after all.

Ok, taking a break from peeling potatoes...

If you want to know about the previous games, check out these wikis:

http://vanessaatalanta.wikia.com/wiki/Vanessa_Atalanta_Wiki

http://argon.wikia.com/wiki/Ministry_of_Argon_Wiki

http://15days.wikia.com/wiki/Fifteen_Days_of_Darkness_Wiki

Each contains a link back to the relevant unfiction threads, if you feel like wading through them!

I got too busy to keep them up to date, and dropped out a lot sooner from the last 2 games than the first, but that will give you an idea.

I notice the Fifteen Days wiki mentions the PM specifically nudging someone that, while it had connections to the Ministry of Argon, it was to be considered its own, standalone game. It's pretty much official that the same goes for this new game (Callum Felderi).

Ok, going away again for several hours...

Shad0 - I still haven't used my one question yet, and am open to suggestions if there was something in particular you want to ask. I hadn't decided between asking more about what "beach" to find her, the chanting, or about "THE DAY THAT SOME LOSE A PROPHET, OTHERS GAIN A MARTYR OR A FIGURE OF HOPE."

From Lucy's description, I believe the beach can only be the one in Cornwall that is the setting of Simon Armitage's play Eclipse. There were originally six children on the beach; the adults were up on an offstage cliff preparing to observe the eclipse; Lucy Lime was the seventh child, and she "died"; two of the children, Polly and Jane, were twins ("Gemini")...

As for the reference to a prophet/martyr/figure of hope, I can't help thinking it has something to do with the fact that yesterday was Good Friday, and therefore not much to do with the ARG proper. I could, of course, be entirely wrong.

Re: Callum Felderi
Re: Klondike

I agree that most of Lucy's answer to Frazer's question was in direct reference to Armitage's play. The "WWW..., 2015..." had me thinking that there might be another figurative "beach" that we'd have to find (such as another hidden world of text website). When Sayame/A.A. asked if there was another way to contact Lucy, she said we should "Find some friends/Go to the beach/Chant...." I figured we'd have to parallel a lot of what the kids do in the play, especially since her last answer seems to imply that we'll eventually have to do a "chant" once we are given the right tools/directions. But that was just my crazy theory and I'm probably completely off lol

And of course, Good Friday Rolling Eyes Laughing I hadn't thought much about the holiday while reading her responses, so I didn't make the connection, but I think you're absolutely right.

It seems as though I did find the right book, at least if I am interpreting Callum's reply properly...

Callum, have you ever read "Unthinking Thinking" By Floyd Merrell??

Parts - I prefer my mathematics to remain in the classroom and the philosophy to be stretching my mind in the tree-lined groves... Good that you are reading more about the Riddler though...

What we do with that information... welll...

And apparently, the play comes from the book, CloudCuckooLand, which lists a ton of chapters/possible characters

And, I ordered a copy of it, should be here next week

First, I hope everyone's having a good Easter/Sunday in general. Found a few moments to break away and check for updates:

Lucy's still having a discussion with K-087 on /lucylime. Her discussion of time includes a quote: "the timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness." Her most recent response prompts us to
Quote:
ask yourself more than just the source given of a quote - examine more the ideas, the questioner and the answer-er. Look more.

And that's how I came across:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

http://www.yourworldoftext.com/almustafa

The quote is from Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, a book of 26 prose poems. The titular prophet is named Almustafa, and he apparently discusses several themes about life with a group of people while travelling home from a foreign city. I feel a bit silly, because I had looked up the quote before, but hadn't thought to pursue it further.

We have a new challenge from Lucy: find out Callum's sweet name for her. We're allowed to ask three questions (except for the obvious, of course).

As a suggestion for the questions, we may want to ask about Callum's favorite book or character. Maybe even his favorite constellation?

On the bit.yl:

It links to this picture:

The time on the clock looks to be 07:23 or 19:23.

ETA:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lucy also stated that Callum identified himself and her more so with the questioner than with 'A.' The questioner referring to those who questioned the prophet and 'A' referring to Almustafa.

ETA:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Found a second website:
http://www.yourworldoftext.com/astronomer

In The Prophet, it's an astronomer who asks the prophet "Master, what of time?" Here, Lucy prompts us to keep the number 88 in mind. I checked http://www.yourworldoftext.com/88 but it doesn't look to be relevant. Lucy also wants us to share our thoughts on....I don't know. The number 88? Apparently anything except Neo-Nazism.

Lucy wants us to look into the questioner, answer-er, and the idea. Meaning there should be at least one more website, presumably concerning the idea of time.... I've tried various forms of the time on the clock, but no luck yet. Will keep searching...

No clue how the other 2 should be phrased Sad

This may be relevant to what you were searching for [sic]:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I am very confused by these worlds of text tho (in a delightful way) so unclear to me if the above is part of the game or not.

My other guess (re one of the themes of Jubran's The Prophet) is prolly for sure not part of the game but I include anyway because I just can't tell
