If it's just a matter of the majority options getting picked, and we are not making any decisions here (besides going with what everybody wants), then there really is no difference if we send now or later, right?

That being said, I can wait a day or two. How about we say Friday, April 3 we all send what we got?

New E-mail

It is now Friday morning here in the UK. What with working for a church, Good Friday isn't the best day for ARG-ing for me, but I have a little access now so I'll e-mail my vote to Alexa.

Also, new e-mail yesterday evening.

It's quite long though so I won't post it here, unless someone didn't receive it and would like to read it?

The idea was that we would email the majority choice over today, as people have been sharing their votes on here.

By my count Seek & Find and Cipher Text are the clear winners so I'll email them over to Daphne now.

In her latest email, titled "Dead Scholars", Alexa wrote:
..."One more thing. He was born and died on the same day."

TY Billy Brown. Among more mainstream choices (e.g. Shakespeare) Prof. David Flusser, the author/academic and Dead Sea Scrolls Scholar, shares that commonality.
EDIT: Although he didn't wear "glasses" John Allegro, an archaeologist and more a well-known Dead Sea Scrolls popularist than a scholar, also died on his birthday.

In her email Alexa also wrote:
..."He wants you to find someone named Henri."

Got a hunch that"Henri"may be Henri de Contenson, the French Archaeologist, who in 1952 discovered the Copper Scroll which is known in academic circles as 3Q15 and has been associated with certain lost treasure claims. Going to wait on other possible research/identities and, naturally, input from y'all before proceeding further.

There is a new page hidden

It will unwind a new mystery

Its name is both ancient and modern.
It can be a noun and a verb.

The subtitle of the latest page is [virtual location: C U]. One CU acronym stands for Copper (Cuprum) so it appears "The Copper Scroll" (above) might be relevant.

The second picture could be the sign of the philosopher's stone.

after doing a quick google image search, the second picture is actually a (the?) sign for "Mental Alchemy".

Not sure how that fits into everything, but there you have it! Smile

after reading up on alchemy a bit, it turns out that alchemy is also a philosophy of sorts, meant to transmute more than metals. the philosopher's stone is needed to turn any kind of "crudeness" into "perfection". so not only elements into gold, but also "material" into "spiritual" (ie. enlightenment).

so it's both but i think this mental alchemy you mention may be somewhat more relevant combined with the image of the mental labyrinth above it.

Hi All. Below is the "squared circle" cipher Solve from the Scroll page
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's a Vigenére Cipher with the pass phrase 'mythology' reading: find what is hidden there.

Tried my luck with a few different things and had no luck with the first code on /scroll I'm afraid.

A reverse image search for the first picture doesn't have any interesting sources, but the repeated occurrence of 'labyrinth' led me to:

Solovetsky Islands, Russia - Bolshoi Zayatsky Island labyrinths:
Quote:
The function of the stone settings is unclear. One suggestion is that they may have symbolised a border between this world and the underworld and the labyrinth may have been used for specific rituals to help the souls of the dead travel to another world.

Not sure if that's relevant.

Also noticed that Michigan is referenced on the copper wikipedia page, specifically Keweenaw (part of 'The Copper Complex').

Most I could find out on copper re. alchemy is that it represents Venus and is used for something called 'The Net': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Net_%28substance%29
Quote:
Newton produced the substance by following what he regarded as a recipe, encoded in classical mythology, for part of the process of achieving the philosopher's stone.
...
George Starkey described his own synthesis of the Net after Newton and created a theory like Newton's, of mythological tales as secret alchemical codes.

Do we think the jelly beans and t-rex have anything to do with anything or no? I'm leaning towards no but I'm always suspicious!

Not sure if everyone saw, but Alexa posted the following on twitter a few days ago:

Quote:
Daphne asked me to post another clue: a room that has no doors

I assumed the answer was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
mushroom
but didn't find an url so not where to go from here.

Sorry for not being more useful Embarassed

thinking out loud...

Sorry just thinking out loud:

a room that has no doors?

First thing that comes to mind is a "padded room". Technically it has no door (at least not one that can be opened from the inside). Although you would need a door to get in there, in the first place.

Second thing that comes to mind is a "box" whether it be imaginary/invisible (think Mime), or whether it be an actual box, it is shaped like a room [with no doors].

Third...an Attic. It is a room, within a house, although technically there is no proper "door".

As for your answer JanetBreenJamFest: i googled the riddle and the answer is a "mushroom", but what about another word for mushroom? Fungus maybe? Fungi?

like i said just throwing stuff out there and getting the mental gears going!

I did try fungus and fungi! I also tried perseus (founder of mycenae), mycenae (mushroom city), myces, shiitake (highest source of copper in mushrooms), marina (Israeli [copper scroll location] mushroom supplier)... and a few other things! No luck.

I suggest maybe someone emails Daphne the 'mushroom' answer? It may be that that clue doesn't actually lead to another page in this case.
