chessboard
think I got something

so the numbers in the black squares at the to and bottom are (as a set of dates)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
07/03/1792 (top)
11/05/1871 (bottom)

These are teh exact dates for the life span of John Frederick William Herschel, Astronomer.

Conveniently enough the letters in the white squares spell:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
HERSCHELS NAMES AS se S SEND KNOWS MOON

The letters in the black squares
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
IGNORATIO ELENCHI - a fancy name for Red Herring

Herschel is credited with finding and naming Titania and Oberon (moons of Uranus) and Enceladus and Mimas (moons of Saturn)

And that's all I have so far

Re: Facebook thread

@mr_eklektik - FYI, this game's PM, Callum, created the FB message group to communicate with the most active players.

/lucina was updated with a quote from Julius Caesar.
Quote:
"MEN AT SOME TIMES ARE MASTERS OF THEIR FATES..."

A bunch of asterisks were scattered throughout the text above it, though I have to wonder if that has more to do with the following line in Julius Caesar than anything else.
Quote:
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars
But in ourselves, that we are underlings."

It would make sense in context, I think, but the asterisks are still worth looking into. They seem to replace letters wherever they are.
The replaced letters are:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
aiwsn/mfo/atussa /tre/is/ctd (with slashes separating the verses)

It's pretty nonsensical, so I don't know if it's relevant or not.

Haha, back in the day MySpace and blogspot were the ARG pages for characters and player communication.

I noticed the missing letters also, but I got something slightly different:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
aiwsn/mfo/atusna/tre/is/ctd. The 'n' is missing in 'given'.

My initial thought was that it might be an anagram. The speaker of the quote is Cassius, which the letters can spell, but I'm unsure.

ETA: I removed a lot of wrong info so as not to confuse. I was confused myself with who was speaking on /lucylime Laughing

I believe this is just someone else introducing himself, and not a message from Lucy. I could, of course, be wrong.

In unrelated news: My envelope arrived! (With a big chunk missing, sigh.) Pictures as soon as I figure out how to get 'em off my phone.

Hey all,

Sorry I fell off the grid for about a week or so there. Got ill and it knocked me on my butt for a bit. Just now catching up. I got the same e-mail. I'm guessing all the jury did? I put some thoughts on a few of the 16 new pages, will add more later.

Focusing on the e-mail for now:

I have no issues understanding what she's saying but no idea what poet she's referencing...

Going to keep listening.

pretty awesome recording! I started transcribing RedHatty, this is as far as I got (I stopped around 4:41) and there were a bunch of words I didn't understand so I put question marks

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
dear reader you have sought knowledge hence you will receive it of course just by asking we sometimes receive and sometimes we have to translate the ideas into our own thoughts both will be required but my job in the universe is to show not unlock doors but what sort of gatekeeper would I be if I did not at least ? to have a key ? word slash word would I be?? enclosed is the first step to understanding numbers can be used for letters and vice versa a simple translation example would be a name or a word for example Ovid each ??? O is the fifteenth V the 22nd and so on therefore translates as 15 , 22, 9, 4 or should one want to write it onehundredandfiftytwothousandtwohundredandninetyfour this could be done the other way of course if one wanted to but you probably know this already ???? nor is it forbidden ??? the stuff you voted for well doors are locked for a reason and this is your last chance to turn around because once the door is opened it can never be unopedned should you want to go to the website a the end of this message you may not want to you may want to reason this is all just a silly game that twelve people blindly sought something they didn't know anything about no one offered any resistance an argument against ?? explored this idea in one form ?? stanford champion did you chose your vote or feel pressured into it by others may be explored later psychologically alone by you or not you may think that all of this all of life is a game it may be ??? gatekeeper not a doorman I will not open the door your choices are yours ??? proper the religions are theirs I like many seek facets of the diamond or many diamonds depending on your view there is at least one diamond and to see it clearly your eyes need to be opened the key thing to do is think it is to look and read and talk and discuss and feel and be not just by yourself but with others and then reflect alone by yourself someone mentioned and idea ? posts something to you all read the source or at least around it don't just hear those words but find out the context as well take for example what has been declared for every war was waged?????? war was also waged when neccessary to win gold mines to attain power conflict brings pain and suffering but also new developments please be assured that i am in no way ? nor of those who perpetuate war suffering or bring about such pain yet I would be naive not to acknowledge the advancements technology science medicine and the very items we are using to communicate now all come from war

On listening to this closely, I realize there a few parts that are super garbled and that I did not understand as well as I though. My American ears struggle with the british accent. So, I'll mark the places I'm really unsure by with a *. The rest should be fairly close but feel free to double check.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm pretty sure the voice came from here (http://www.acapela-group.com/) if you go to UK, there is a Lucy. Also big thanks to Singer for helping me with this. It's tedious to type it all out.

Here we go:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Reader,

You have sought knowledge and so you will receive it. Of course just by asking we sometimes receive and sometimes we have to translate the ideas into our own thoughts. Both will be required, but my job in the universe is to shut doors, not unlock them. But what sort of gatekeeper would I be if I did not at least hint where the keys are slash were slash will be.

Enclosed is the first step to understanding. Numbers can be used for letters and vice versa. A simple translation for example would be a word or name, for example, Ovid, o v i d. Each letter has a place in the alphabet. O is the fifteenth, v the twenty-second, and so on.

I will therefore translates as 15 22 9 4 or should one want to write it 152,294. This could be done the other way, of course, if one wanted to.

But you probably know this already. How is this new? It isn't. Nor is it forbidden. We want the most sweet* ideas with stuff you voted for. Well, doors are locked for a reason, and this is your last chance to turn around, because once a door is opened, it can never be unopened.

Should you want to, go to the website at the end of this message. You may not want to. You may want to reason, this is all just a silly game, but twelve people blindly sought something they didn't know anything about. No one offered resistance, an argument against. Milgram explored this idea in one form, (atone the mass which argued in)* stanford did choose your vote or feel pressured into it by others. This may be explored later psychologically alone by you or not.

You may think that all of this, all of life, is a game. It may be a game. My role is only a gatekeeper, not a doorman. I will not open the door for you. Your choices are yours. You can explain that with *these prophets. The religions were theirs.)*

I like many see many facets of the diamond, or many diamonds, dependent on the view. There is at least diamond in the world. And to see it clearly, your eyes need to be opened. The key thing to do is to think. Just to look and read and talk and discuss and feel things* not just by yourself but with others and then reflect alone by yourself. Someone mentions an idea or quotes something to you. Read the source or at least around it. Don't just hear those words, but find out the context as well.

Take war for example. War has been declared for everything. War was waged to increase trade. War was waged to get other people addicted to opium. War was also waged when necessary to win gold mines, to attain power. Conflict brings pain and suffering, but also new developments. Please be assured that I am in no way for* pain nor of those who perpetuate war, suffering, or bring about such. Yet, I would naive to not acknowledge the advancements in technology, science, medicine, and the very items we are using to communicate now have all come from war.

And magic. This is where I usually lose people now. Magic became alchemy became science became superfast technology. But just as understanding that the Willow tree gives medicine that gives scientists aspirin which allows people to purchase some super-fast caffeine added drug that targets pain fast. Willow trees grow still though. The moon still influences boats and astronomer alike. Some claim that the phases affect mentality. Horoscope readers align the gravitation and fluxes along meridian lines and bla bla bla. You've read all of this before as well. Haven't you?

But magic works. Not Paul Daniel's or David Copperfield illusions. Not cold reading Darikia Karzor* or Derrin Browns. This idea of exerting your will upon the universe works. Children know it. Parents harken onto ideas of childhood imagination and fantasy to illustrate ideas. But the imagination gives it the power. The shadows become darker, more evil. The light becomes more bright and containing hope. We use this as adults. I have come to open your eyes and bring back to that time. All you have to do is trust me. Open your eyes. We will speak soon.

Lucinda.

(music at 6:20-ish)

(Starts fading at 6:35-ish)

(fade fade fade)

Track ends at exactly 7:30

Notes:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ovid is a poet who wrote metamorphosis, where Adonis comes from. If you treat 152,294 as coordinates you get 407 9th Street, Craig, AK, USA which is a state forest and not a station. Seems a bust, unless I'm missing something.

Milgram did prison simulations experiments set in prisons, about strong authoritative figures at Stanford, they had to be stopped early because the guards became too brutal. The idea that under social pressure we will do things we are not normally okay with.

Did a huge paper on the Stanford prison experiments last semester. That was brutal.
Thank you so much for doing the transcription!!!!

I keep thinking that the poet is Shakespeare, but I can't manage to convert the letters into coordinates to a station...

The simple letter conversion for shakespeare is 19-8-1-11-5-19-16-5-1-18-5
