This has a lot of good information about the viral campaign that went on at SXSW.
You can also seach #fsociety on Twitter
Also, as a side note, the provided IP address on whoismrrobot.com, 172.331.255.255, is apparently the highest 20-bit range for private IP addresses.

I found this when SXSW was on, and put in my email then. I've yet to get a response.

scroll down just a wee bit on this same forum page to find
whoismrrobot.com thread already started (perhaps a mod will merge the two?)

Here's some source for clarity:
http://www.usanetwork.com/mrrobot/home
[Can find a full version of the trailer on the site here]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Robot_ (TV_series)
Quote:
A ten-episode first season will premiere on USA Network on June 24, 2015.
http://www.nbcuniversal.com/
The context is an upcoming television series based around a hacker. Looks decent enough to give a watch.
The affiliation with NBCuniversal means that they are probably running the campaign.
Running through the page source turned up this: https://plus.google.com/+WhoIsMrRobot/posts
It might not lead to anything, but it's there.
Interesting note-
After the site leaves the message of 'we will be in touch' one can press enter repeatedly, which iterates the command line and retypes the text.
This repeats, and doesn't seem to go anywhere; my attempt to push it crashed my browser due to the calculations.

It looks like the web site has a little more interaction now... anyone found anything beyond the question, wakeup, join options?

I haven't dug around the site at all. I must have given it my email address and forgotten about it. I just got an email from mr.robot which was in binary.
not bothering to paste the original
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it decoded to:
enter "420" at the prompt
so that might give you more to play with.

Tried running what it says myself. Interesting result, quote by Bob Marley. Might be a little easter egg, perhaps, given the date.
The functionality doesn't exactly add much. 'Wakeup' plays the initial video. 'Join' brings one to the original email entering screen. Question is new content though, linked below. Also preceding that is an image in the page source.
http://www.whoismrrobot.com/images/fb-share.jpg
http://www.whoismrrobot.com/images/question/jefferson.jpg
http://www.whoismrrobot.com/images/question/steals.jpg
http://www.whoismrrobot.com/images/question/madoff.jpg
http://www.whoismrrobot.com/images/question/owned.jpg
The names simply corespond to the content. No notable pattern or puzzle.
The images don't bear any puzzle content themselves, far as I can tell.
Looks to be just progressive teasers, but that's all fine. No matter.
Of note, the site is a little...lackluster in function, heh. Pressing the enter key when it's loading skips a line, and it simply continues the typeout from there. Playing the video with the 'Wakeup' command and pressing enter while it's playing opens another iteration of the video, and both play, ad infinitum. Not exactly fully debugged. The clear way in which it's done in the page-inspect is a bit odd too, especially since it acknowledges those that look through it with the message at the top. Ah well, the trail at least looks nice from outside the curtain. :)

The Fsociety groups seem to be a medium for the show's campaign. Searching for the group shows it to be used for many related posts.
https://twitter.com/hashtag/fsociety
Given the in-show and out-of-show context, I'd imagine it stands for Free Society. It may also be an entity of the show.
As for the new images, they all correspond to recent events. The Met Gala of course was only a few weeks ago, and CC use in the Mid-East has increased. The other two relate to Tom Brady being suspended as part of a group caught deflating footballs to sabotage games, and Elon Musk's recent SpaceX launches and their testing of a manned payload.
The points made are fine, except for Musk; he's currently sending the world into the future faster than anyone else, and is the rare example of a businessman being amazing. He also doesn't sell much in the way of 'plastic trinkets', and a proponent for free internet should like him, given his objection to censorship and him making Paypal a success.

Couple of thoughts after the latest email..
"Read Between The Lies" (the email subject): I misread it at first (as "between the liN es ", and kept looking for hints between the lines of text below each of the images (none found)... if anyone wants to play with the images and try to increase the contrast, just in case.. could it be between the lines in the articles, rather than the lines of text added by mr. robot?
I'm quite annoyed by the fact that each paragraph under the images starts with either "10:46 <mr>" OR "<mr> 10:46".. is this a hint as the incipit changes? There is ONE starting with "<mr> 10:46 <mr>" (first paragraph under the "Billionaire Secretly Launches Private Rocket Into Space" headline). is this special?

I thought it mean F*k society as they did a viral campaign using that word - but again, as you mentioned, a lot of groups use the fsociety moniker.
