My initial thought was that it might be an anagram. The speaker of the quote is Cassius, which the letters can spell, but I'm unsure.

Anagram?

A Facade Mistrust Wins Not ???

Not getting any help with playing with that Sad

Re: Updates

So the checker puzzle refers to astronomer Francis Baily, and BAILY'S FAMED ASSOCIATION is undoubtedly the Royal Astronomical Society. Baily is famous for (among other things) explaining Baily's Beads, a phenomenon that occurs during total solar eclipses.

As for the email... I do not think the poet is Shakespeare. On /lucina, verse two refers to the poet in a context that makes it clear she means William Blake:

Lucy wrote:
Earth did answer to the bard
The poet acidly wrote

This is a reference to Blake's "Earth's Answer" (which is, you may recall, the source of the picture of "Earth" that Lucy gave me for answering one of her questions), so I believe Blake is the poet. And his name converts to 2121115, which looks much more promising for connecting to some sort of station. Although Lucy did also mention something about doing it "the other way"...

I'm pretty sure she just means, that you can go from numbers to letters. If I give you 4122015, that is also DLTO.

Of course! You genius. I was thinking she meant to read it backwards or something like that. So 2121115 could translate to UUAO, or WAO (ha!), which is a radio station in Panama...

Edit: Or Costa Rica...

'Nother Edit:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Or WAAE, which was a radio station in Georgia. It's current name is WRJY; before that it was WSEG. Giving that a try, and putting this in spoiler tags just in case it's correct.

Attachment to Lucy's email

"The station had a name before its current one..."

Here is a listing that may help:

Yeah, although we are following weird standards here. In theory D should translate to 04 and not 4 for clarity. So when we see 1 and 2 is that A and B or L. It's ambiguous...but it's how she detailed it out when she went on in the e-mail.

In other news, the game may be changing a bit? Callum has responded to some of these pages and his responses are interesting to say the least....

astronomer, now says "88 - this is your way of gtting at me is it - to get them to investigate? Fine, Lucy, bring it on - Callum"

There are other interesting things on mother, richman, innkeeper, merchant, judge, laywer, orator, teacher, elder

The most interesting, to me, is ploughman: "You told me that the oath was done in blood. You never taught me how to break those type of rites. How can I stop working? Callum"

Some of these have typeo's which seems odd to me. I'm also not sure why he responded to some and not others.

Random: But on Scholor I had posted something and now it's missing....odd. guess they didn't like it and cleaned it up???

Also Rich posted this on the Facebook chat which I am insanely confused by "Beware, all, of her powers: I am feeling oddly lightheaded and a bit dizzy, just now... perhaps a side effect of my medications, or .... ??!!"

One other note, in the e-mail from lucy, her picture is that of St. Lucy

Re: World of Text web pages

It would appear that the topics Lucy invited us to comment on had been issues between her and Callum.

Updates
Re: Station

Well...things are certainly picking up to say the least...

So I had a thought (and hopefully I'm not chasing down another dead end):
Lucy, herself, could be the poet to whom she's referring. She did write 6 verses, after all. Our missing letters aiwsn/mfo/atusna/tre/is/ctd would convert to:
1-9-23-19-14-13-6-15-1-20-21-19-14-1-20-18-5-9-19-3-20-4

But I'm stuck on how to convert that into useful coordinates or anything...

Also, I guess I was right to ask Callum about his job. Looks like he just returned from a conference on "timespace" (no biggie).

Oh, and if someone could also add me to the fb chat, I'd appreciate it. I feel like I'm missing out.

ETA: Ok, from Lucy's response email, it appears that we do have to use the missing letters somehow. But she also updated /lucina with another verse from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

Quote:
...constant as the Northern Star...

I'm having no luck finding a connection between Shakespeare, the missing letters/numbers and a "station" (rail or otherwise). I thought the 1923 & 1914 might correspond to years but yeah...still nothing lol

On another note, someone gave Callum Lucy's email? From all of her responses, it really doesn't sound like she wants to be found by him.

I only got one response from Lucy that started with "why bother me with it then" Has their been more than one? If so can you share them up here or send them to me via Facebook?

Re: Updates
Re: Station

Oh no, sorry, that was the email I was referring to. I was going off of what she said:

Quote:
The original poet WAS Blake in my poem. But you need to find the new rhyme, don't you?
The one which is tied to the stars...
If only I left a clue for you.. oh wait, I DID!

I assumed the stars she was referring to were the asterisks in the poem at /lucina. But I could be wrong.

or

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a poem by Blake. The only one I can think of offhand is "The Tyger" which has the line "...when the stars threw down their spears..." in it but of course perhaps there are other poems or even a poem with the word star in the title for all I know. Sorry I haven't had/won't have any time to work on this but that is my best guess for something to try with regard to that.

Perhaps the quotes are suggesting that the letters replaced by the stars make some sort of Caesar cipher? (I've tried Caesar shift and Caesar square without success, but someone else may have better luck.)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That is Lord Playfair....promoter of the playfair cipher...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playfair_cipher

My personal fav cipher ever. That said, I've never broken one without some plantext to match up the first few lines with. I'm going to have to research how to attack it unless anyone else has any ideas/thoughts about the key.

Also, Callum gave us a clue to this in the FB chat when he told us to play fair...which set off red flags in my mind (cause fav cipher)

That's how I found this guy. I did send Callum a private message to confirm my playfair theory and was gonna wait for a response before shareing as I didn't want to send you down a rabbit hole but this guy being Lord Playfair makes me thing I am right.

On an unrelated note, Lucy told us to look for the poet in the stars, both of those Shakespeare quotes are star related - northern star and master of fates (some people considering our fate and our starts to be the same thing). So I think it's very likely that Shakespeare is the poet but I haven't figured out how to find a station yet. It's possible the *'s play into it as well.

Still musing but I'll probably shift my attention to the mailed stuff now. I tend to work better when I have someone to bounce ideas off of which I currently don't have, they keep me focused and limit how many rabbit holes I fall into. Any other codebreaker interested in setting up a chat for live brainstorming?

Also, we might want to be mindful of how much we share between Callum and Lucy. Specifically we might not want to talk to much about Lucy's puzzles in the group chat with Callum. Possibily vice versa but Lucy doesn't seem to care about Callum except that she doesn't want to be found by him.
