Rant time for me

I haven't posted much recently. This whole thing is so terribly complex. Granted, much has been decoded/de-puzzled, but it seems like C. & L. just keep adding to the complexity, while the overall story arc isn't going much of anywhere in particular.

Honestly, I feel like we are the ones getting played, rather than us playing the game!

I much prefer ARG's where the players help to actually create the story's content through their creative input, instead of just jumping through hoops to follow the PM's pre-determined trail. I've passed on some suggestions OOG, but they have been ignored; and, of course as the creator, that's his prerogative.

Anyone else here able to relate? If not, I'm pretty much going into lurker mode. Good luck, and have fun!

As an aside, do we think there is any significance to the fact that Callum got the spelling of 'Knight' wrong (it was an 'N' rather than a 'K') with our gold letters? Maybe it was just to differentiate from the 'King' initial?

That's exactly what it was, and it's a standard convention used when notating moves.

I'm afraid I don't recall who it was, but one player definitely said something to Callum about being in (or perhaps only near) Milton Keynes.

Dagada is in the UK. I don't much like putting people's Facebook names here if they haven't already posted them on the "Players who's who" page (http://callumfelderi.wikia.com/wiki/Players_who%27s_who), but I will tell you that he has participated in the "Those of note" chat and that his work has been undelightful in its busyness.

She wanted us to look at the letters three places behind the stars in her poem! Those are NIMIT URI NVETIT UMS EM PER; spaced properly, NITIMUR IN VETITUM SEMPER, which is a quote from Ovid's The Loves, Book III, Elegy IV, line 17. Roughly translated: "We always strive for the forbidden."

Edit: Sent my answer to Lucy. I'm confident, but we'll see what she says.

But how does that lead to a station that had it's name changed?

On a whim:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Book, Elegy, Line = 3,4,17 = CDQ = Cardiff Queen Street railway station - which was previously called "Crockherbtown"

I too have emailed Lucy

Now... Back to the pet name.... 2 questions left at /Almustafa

And any sites we've linked to Callum's Facebook profile -- other than this unfiction forum -- could be looked at / accessed by people from Callum's work. We have linked http://www.yourworldoftext.com/lucylime there. Perhaps not all the introductions made there are ours...perhaps the Knight of Wands should be investigated further, or Caylus Ark, or anyone else we don't recognize.

Someone also posted most of the '16 voices' on Facebook so those are likely 'unsafe' as well.

For those who don't check all the pages, a few pages have been updated, youth and elder. Scholar also says to think harder but I think that was already posted.

Notably, Callum also did not respond to Priestess where it asks about God - could be significant. Maybe not.

As for Lucy's sweet name, I have thoughs:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

She added a quote about The Sun Does not Shine Forever which is a Duran Duran song. So maybe her sweet name is the name of a Duran Duran CD?

Duran Duran (1981)
Rio (1982)
Seven and the Ragged Tiger (1983)
Notorious (1986)
Big Thing (1988)
Liberty (1990)
Duran Duran (1993)
Thank You (1995)
Medazzaland (1997)
Pop Trash (2000)
Astronaut (2004)
Red Carpet Massacre (2007)
All You Need Is Now (2010)

Liberty jumped out at me, there is something interesting stuff on (http://www.yourworldoftext.com/Liberty) but I don't think it's related to us but maybe???

ETA: And then RedHatty reminded me that you have to put things backwards to get to a new page and ytrebil is a blank page so that's probably a bust

ETA: Maybe ask if there is a year that is significant to her sweet name???

Rich posted the 2nd question on /Almustafan (so much for just lurking, eh?)

He asked, "Is it a name from ancient lore?"

I hope that helps, as there was no discussion on the next question(s) yet & I hate to have it wasted.

Lucy Replied:
Quote:
Welcome second of the three...

On /lucylime, I had asked if the missing portion in the sun symbol (from images she sent earlier to others - and the venus symbol I would infer) had special significance. Lucy replied YES.

General observation, though possibly too late to do much good: Nowhere did Lucy limit us to yes-or-no questions. *sigh*

Playing catch up

Sorry to have been absent. Very busy weekend and coming week, but finally got a chance to catch up a bit tonight.

First, great work on all the cipher solves! You guys are an inspiration. I lost count of how many different keys I tried Embarassed lol

Just double-checking that I'm on the same page as to what's still active:

1. /almustafa and finding Lucy's sweet name. Moving forward, we still have one more question, which hopefully, we will all be willing to work together to come up with.

2. /almitra. I'm still not sure what answer she's looking for.

3. /scholar. We have to think harder. Does anyone remember Lucy specifically talking about thinking? Might be a clue we've missed....

4. I emailed Lucy the station name (with proper credit to RedHatty, of course) so waiting on the next stage of knowledge.

The question has been deleted. Either by him, the PM, or one of the characters. Either way. We still have two. Any thoughts for a second question. I still think asking for a significant year(s) associated with the name might be helpful.

Also, on the page Lucy has AT LAST>>> IT BEGINS>>>. This keeps jumping out at me. But not sure what to do with it.

I hope by him; otherwise that sucks. Sad

I like that idea. Given her answer to the first question, I think it's probably a musical reference, so I'm sorta inclined to ask her which song... but that's a bad question if my assumption is wrong.

Alternately, we could go totally wonky and ask her something that has nothing to do with Callum's pet name, like "How do we read stars the way you do?" Mr. Green (Not recommended, because I suspect she's unlikely to answer.)

Arbad69 wrote:

Although I didn't see exactly when it appeared, I assumed it was in response to us finally asking a question.

That's a good question. I had been thinking of asking what kind of animal it references (cat, dog, person, etc), but that's probably too obvious. I also considered asking by what artist the reference comes from since we're not completely sure its Duran Duran (I remember someone found out that she's a fan of Placebo in particular). But that also falls under the assumption that it's a musical reference.

Well, we know it's animal & I'm pretty certain that it technically stems from a CD/DVD. Does the animal walk, fly or crawl/slither is an option. How old were they (Lucy & Callum) when the sweet name was coined (gives an idea of how juvenile/mature it may be) What color is associated with the name, if any. What size of animal (bigger than a breadbox, etc.)

Just some of the ideas crawling around my grey matter

Re: /almustafa

So although the question was erased by someone (I'm guessing not the PM), Lucy has graciously honored us with an extra answer, although we shouldn't be erasing questions:

Lucy wrote:
My name is not ancient, first used in 1710/1720 or so…as a name anyhow

On a whim, I searched for female names originated in 1710-1720:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Kitty was one that jumped out at me. Going to http://www.yourworldoftext.com/yttik brings up...interesting results associated with the sun. I can't tell if it's meant to belong to us or not.

She also added a few more lines of text:
Lucy wrote:
the sun does not shine forever; the moon glows in darkness but not in daytime

Notes:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's a line taken from this book. I believe the Whitehead referred to is Alfred North Whitehead, an English philosopher who designed a theory of perception.

Oh, and I also thought of another question we could maybe ask: what is the meaning of the name? Could narrow things down some (just like how Lucinda means light/illumination).
