ARGFest-o-Con 2015 July 23-26

EDIT: The ARGFest-o-Con website is now live!!!!

Greetings community - producers, players and lurkers alike. First, an apology about the length of time it has taken to address the issue of ARGFest's future. I am sorry to say, that future is still undecided. The outcomes of the survey, comments on various media, and discussions within the industry have left us with no more certainty about what is expected from us than before we asked. While our long-term future remains in flux, our immediate future is secure with a return to our roots.

ARGFest-o-Con 2015 is going to be a throwback to the purely social events of our past. From Thursday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 26th, we invite you all to join us in Philadelphia, PA for party and play, booze and schmooze, a bit of sightseeing, and lots of community fun! Pixie Kearsley and Michael Andersen are taking the Project Manager positions this year, and are greatly looking forward to seeing you all.

There will be no panels, however we will attempt to schedule events based on sign-ups (to help facilitate possible discounts). Of course, you can do your own thing instead if you wish as well. Possible events may include an Escape the Room (maybe even with Zombies!).

Want a bit of US or local history, then we have stuff for you! There is Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, a Segway tour of Historic Old City Philadelphia, or perhaps a trip to Eastern State Penitentiary.

We have amazing and creative museums such as the Art Museum (also known to many tourists as "that's the steps Rocky runs up!"), The Franklin Institute (one of the oldest science museums in America), or perhaps The Mütter Museum (a quick trip through the mysteries of medical history including the famous "Soap Lady").

Looking for something more nature oriented, there is The Philadelphia Zoo, Longwood Gardens, or Fairmont Park.

Something or someplace else in Philly you want to go or do? Let us know!!!

There will be a group dinner, and possibly a trip to a tiki bar! There will probably be Rock Band, or other types of gaming opportunities at the hotel. And of course, possibly most important, it would not be ARGFest without a FestQuest!

Because of the non-conference setting this year, there will be no conference tickets. It will be on you, the attendee, to pay your own way. We will, however, be helping to organize events. Our hope is that we will be able to get group rates on most activities.

We are also currently looking into a couple hotels for group rates, using feedback about previous locations attendees have given us in previous years.

We will have more details about this year's event soon.
Any questions (or suggestions) can be directed towards pixieSPLATargfest.com

Oh pooo. I am actually going to be in Seattle that weekend (would have jumped down to Portland if ARG-Fest was there this year).

Maybe next year. I still have half the ARG Museum on a bookshelf in our den.

Oh Kona! You will continue to be greatly missed!!! I'm not sure what the future will bring, but hopefully we will all get together again!!!

Aliendial - yay! Me too!!!! (Hahaha)

Dav- you better be! I too will be bringing games, and there is a good chance someone staying at the hotel will have to host our RockBand setup for us.

Celina - woot!!! Please do, I miss you like crazy sista!

Definitely have this marked off now!
And it'll be nice to go to an argfest without trucking along a suitcase of precccioussssss items!
Flaming Nutter
Gotta check what I'll require if I want to drive there, since by then I should have my G2 license (finally!), which isn't quite a full driving license; Ontario graduated licensing, blah!

Philly does have a lot, but it depends on what you like.

There's Escape the Room, Watson Adventures Scavenger Hunts and Stray Boots Tours.

Hidden City is a group that might have things going on around then, but it's not on their event schedule yet.

There's other things besides the history/scavenger hunts too, like the City Food Tours or Concerts in the Park (they've been going on in various parks for a few years now in the summer).

Surprised that it's been so long since I went to ARGFest--last one I went to was the one in Boston! Embarassed
