[Spec] Church Flyer contains New Age Thought

This is my first ARG, but they seem right up my alley.

Anyone notice that the church flyer contains new age thought in its poem? Look at the letter, in the communications topic (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=98543#98543). I'll also quote it below.

Tranquil Valley Church of God Newsletter wrote:

A short poem by Timothy Monarque

Sometimes I wonder why,
I feel the way I do.
So angry, so fired at the world.
Sometimes it feels as if I have nothing,
and the world gives me back nothing.
But then I'm reminded that I'm alive,
nourished by the Earth's
foods and energies,
astounded by the complex beauty of the
most microscopic of things.
The universe sings a song,
but you must listen,
to the harmonious melody
that we all can feel.
The energies within us resound as we are
illuminated by the light of God.
I dissolve within the thoughts,
and see but one thing.
Life, the simplest of beauties,
complex within the metronome
of my mind.

The poem begins with a very angry tone, similar to a psychotic episode, but then turns into a new-age happiness that is very out of place in a church newsletter. I've worked as a Church secretary, I know what types of things are appropriate. Granted, most of the newsletter is very hokey, but I have a feeling that the poem has an importance beyond its appearance.

Specifically, the poem mentions God only once, odd in such a fundamentalist church. Instead, the poem references "energies" and "Earth's foods", and "the universe"- all concepts that when equated to God's level cause the nature of the writing to shift from a Christ-centered to Human-centered world-view.

The last line also bothers me- a "metronome of the mind" indicates a drudgery that also seems innapropriate in this text, but fits well into the world-view of a psychotic.

Lastly, the name Monarque is close to "Monarch", meaning single ruler by brith. This is very odd speculation, but could it be a pseudonym for the leader of whatever cult or clique is murdering the animals?

Agreed, some of the spacing struck me as odd, but then again, I've never been one for freeform verse. Smile
