 		Good question, NetLurker. I was hoping to host my audio files somewhere other than Dropbox, so let me know if you find a good site to host the video.

Random news:
  • AMNA-A broadcasted a few existing tracks with the author as "Ascend" instead of "Nick Lyons".
  • Some of the recordings Absurdus and I left on the phone were mixed together and then broadcast, so that's kind of awkward. They're the ABSURDUS mp3's. D=
  • New forecast! (#11) "One Storm Today,Light Storm Tomorrow"
  • SOLITARE and a new player (ASSIGNMENT?) have joined the forecast!

 		While trying to skim around for information on how to use RX-SSTV to pull out the new images, I remembered that in Forecast 3 Floki was listed twice. Do we still think that was a mistake or does that have possible meaning considering we have seen others multiply before?

So that's strange that he spliced our audio in there, maybe use a voice changer in the future haha. I already tried to make my voice sound different in case it came up.

As for the new player it's not ASSIGNMENT it's DISCIPLE. That's me I forgot to post that I changed it. So we didn't have me floating around and then my two dead bodies. Easier to keep them in order this way. Anyone able to get the SSTV images? the method I was using before doesn't work with the new distorted broadcasts

I don't have any of the recordings before Forecast8, so I'm not sure. I leaning toward WhatIsTruth's earlier guess that the new Absurdus position was created after winning that combat with Wriggler.

It's a pretty confusing puzzle, but we're gathering the pieces slowly (I hope). I tried to create 2 slight storms last night at 11B and 11C. If it had any effect, it was probably the cause of "One Storm Today, Light Storm Tomorrow". Maybe each player can only submit 1 per day? I guess it's possible that I didn't submit it correctly either.

Haha. I thought I was already having trouble transcribing, but the newer distortions make it even tougher.

 		The SSTV program I am using still works but you can't mess with the playback. If you are speeding it up to understand the words you have to play it back "Normal" to capture the SSTV....If that makes sense. The distortion they are using is effecting the quality of the picture I get but it still works.

Here is what I pulled out of the file. Need to transcribe the positions.

On the Floki twice. That was my mistake. I reviewed that forecast and he is only in there once. I can post the recording if you would like.

 		So here's a question for everyone.

We don't fully understand the Forecast puzzle yet, but it looks like we can now alter the severity of storms. I'm not sure if that permanently changes the map yet. Any ideas for what we should try next? Forecast updates aren't very frequent, so I think working together will make this go a bit more quickly.

Ideas
  • Butterfly Signora is located in a Rough Storm. We can try to change it into a Slight Storm and then land on it. Butterfly Signora could be the actual goal, a source of super powers, or maybe it gives you another tank. Who knows! Smile
  • 4 out of 5 players who have landed in a Rough Storm have become butterflies. I don't know exactly what that means, but I assume it's bad. There are a couple players (Lazenby and Yugito) who haven't changed their direction in a long time and will continue loop through the same positions forever. We can change one of their future squares into a Rough Storm as a test. It would be especially interesting to make the change 2 or 3 forecasts in advance to see if the location remains Rough.
  • We can try to kill each other until there's only one of us left standing. Given that WhatIsTruth was able to return immediately, I'm guessing this isn't the goal of the puzzle, but who knows.
That's all I've thought of so far, but I'd love to hear other ideas.

Currently, I'm one square above the "Snowless Alpha Sharp {noise}" spot, but only by accident. In the last forecast, moving East sent me in the opposite direction from what I predicted. We don't have a reliable way of moving south by 1 square, so it's very possible that I'll be a butterfly in the next forecast.

 		Honestly I'm not even sure how the movement works so if anyone has any ideas for which directions I should move that's fine.

I had the same idea about making Signora slight and I agree with that.

I also think the rough on one of the points of someone who quit as a test is a good idea.

Haha, I know how you feel. Only the PM knows at this point, but we have a fraction of it figured out.

Click [here] for the Google Doc that Endzo put up. Endzo has been keeping a lot of useful information up to date on tabs 3 and 4. Tab 2 is where I'm trying to track everyone's movements in the Forecasts. It's a bit of a mess, but I'll try to explain what all the tables are for.

1) History (top right): Contains each player's location and the direction he/she moved to land in that spot. The third group (Map 3) is for the players who landed in a Rough square and became butterflies. So far, only THOU has survived landing in a Rough square.

2) Maps (top left): It looks like player movements have correlated to are wrapping around the edges of a map with 3 columns. This layout makes the most sense given what we've seen, but it could still be wrong.

The first map contains the original weather conditions (Slight, Moderate, Rough) and the other 3 maps are used for tracking player movements. For example, Lioness at the top of Map 2 has been in all 11 forecasts. Lioness moved North for Forecasts 2 and 3 (resulting in moving Up 4 squares each time). Then, Lioness switched to moving West and have since been cycling in the same region (moving up one square at a time, but jumping Down 3 and Left 1 whenever they were on C# row). Confusing! Yay!

3) Move tables (center): The hardest part is knowing what each direction means, so these tables are keeping track of all results for each direction. North and South will move you Up or Down 4 squares respectively. Unfortunately, the other 6 options are still unknown and it looks like each move has its own rules. Moving East and then West doesn't mean you move back to your original location. The NE/NW/SE/SW directions haven't been chosen much, but they seem very random.

Usually they all just have the triangle eye picture for Ascension but that one track had a different picture. I downloaded a larger image from its source.

 		OK, I have had a busy night. Sorry for posting so many things above.
I was looking at the Google Docs spread sheet. Thought I would have a go at mapping this out. And thanks to the layout already up there (thanks to whoever did the "Forecast Map" tab), I think I was able to nut out something that seems to stand up.

Now at first look it doesn't seem to hold up for everyone and not for every move but I think it does. You have a think outside the box to realize it.

The forecast's are weather conditions which I believe are for sea states as described in an earlier post. So have you every wondered.....are you on a ship/boat. Different boats move at different speeds. The directions I have worked out seem to hold but some people move 1 space and others move 2. Could be that you are in different vessels moving at different speeds? Anyone care to email and ask what vessel/vehicle they are in?

Two people who crossed paths in the same move, on my map did have a "fight".....

So the question is should I post it? Would that ruin the game?

Maybe PM me if you are interested in discussing it? (I am going to bed it is 11pm here. I will check back about 8am my time, 9 hours from now.)

That sounds familiar, but I don't know why.

I compared the Ascend image you found with other online versions, but I couldn't find any interesting differences. Maybe Radionomy thought Ascend actually wrote the new tracks and pulled images from some database (that could also explain why the artist was changed again today, but this time to Ascensionism).

And feel free to share any ideas about the Forecast map. It's definitely a fun one to puzzle over.

 		Not that this matters at all but I recorded all of the voice stuff that we've ever gotten from the phone calls. I know Afternoonofthefaun posted one but that was after I gave it to her.

She's not really involved anymore sadly. I think she lost interest.
