I also believe that the missing calendar's are referring to the launch of the game in Q3 this year.

This seems to line up with approximate dates given previously.

The Steam Hot Dog episode is I probably a clue that the game is on steam now or will be out soon the reference to Steam Powered which is also the steam website but here is the problem where is it released? Steam store or greenlight

Maybe it is a Mod for Skyrim if you search 2023 you get Spy Bugs but I don't think that is it Search for fractal and you find Crashed Lander.

The guy who made crashed lander posted on on of Jim's videos here http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/214969/Video_Frog_Fractions_creator_finds_value_in_keeping_secrets.php

So far I'm thinking the podcast is unrelated and just another of Jim's projects

There are a couple of reasons I don't agree.

1. In THD 9 The background train audio is reversed and the podcast is recorded after.

I can't think of a logical reason to do this.
I can't reduce Jims voice enough to hear the people speaking A LOT in the background.

2.THD 8 can not be downloaded at all but has a transcript.
http://shows.kingdomofloathing.com/ahd/thd8.mp3

THD 9 transcript is just this:
"[This episode transcript is flawed]"

There is almost always strange rider mail from the 321 area code the space coast.

Physical objects from April 5th event

Does anyone know how to contact the people who have the physical objects from the April 5th event?

Train Hot Dog 12

SUPER INTERESTING BIT AT END of THD 12 this week, with someone spelling something out, and then some sort of crazy audio glitch. Listen from 22:50 or so: https://youtu.be/3QeXpbLrVzc?t=22m50s

Addition:
@uberhacker this is a puzzle for you Smile

Isolated burst at end of Train Hot Dog 12

Hi everyone- it's a little dead in here, but there is a mystery afoot!

There was a strange noise at the end of Train Hot Dog 12 ("Stay on Your Toast") that merits some attention.

If you can't get the mp3 from the kol site, you can get it from youtube in the link I posted previously.

I brought in a friend with audio decoding experience and we were able to pull together these 4 clips (3 unique clips, 1 is amplified). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m4tr3rtc4m8gce5/AACUaHU_0fwIL57XBz21Qlyca?dl=0

Here's a description of what's in the files from my friend:

"The spectrogram doesn't show any text or anything. To my ear it sounds
like the tempo and pitch have been increased but fiddling with those
settings doesn't give me anything that sounds like speech, forward or
backward.

"I'd expect very distinct bands of energy on the spectrogram if this was
some kind of encoding scheme like SSTV or PSK31, which I don't see here.
I don't think it's output from some kind of analog modem (i.e.
old 56K PSTN units) - normally the output from those sound like
Gaussian noise (after the initial handshake at least).

"Admittedly looking for a digital encoding scheme is a bit far fetched
as this came from a YouTube video and was encoded with the MPEG
AAC audio codec. It's a lossy encoder meaning data is lost during
compression and that usually wrecks havoc with clever ways of
transmitting data through sound.

"I also tried importing the clip as u-law and a-law (logarithmic
encoding schemes to get more dynamic range out of a given bit depth) but
no luck, looks a lot more like random noise than the original sample.

"One interesting thing is that burst of noise is mirrored perfectly
between the two channels. If it was a mono sound clip converted to
stereo, the standard way to do that is to just copy the data to both
channels; the waveform would be identical. If it was stereo the
waveform in each channel would be very similar but not mirrored.
Here the data in the left channel appears to be the exact inverse of
the data in the right channel. Strange.

Whoa, I take that back, I merged the two tracks and instead of silence
I got a little bit of audio. Still not the solution to the
puzzle though. This clip is much more interesting on the spectrogram -
instead of a wall of noise (like it was before) there seems to be distinct bands of
energy. Doesn't look like speech either though. Maybe it needs some
more processing?"

Now this is interesting! It seems the podcast really may be part of the ARG.

I too fiddled a bit with the clip at the end of THD 12, but with little success. The part in the middle sounds like speech, and when I slowed it down it definitely is speech, but I still can't make it out. Also, the beginning of that clip of audio before the muffled voice sounds to me like a robotic voice saying "Brought to you by"

Hot Dog Train

Hot Dog Train has to be part of the ARG. There are too many overlaps with the FF2 ARG so far to ignore it. The recent episode is titled "Stay on Your Toast"-- more bread references-- the Time Travel one ("Hot Dog Time Machine") is also special in some way.

There was a recent episode of Video Games Hot Dog (incidentally, a really good podcast http://videogameshotdog.com/) that came out right after the Train Hot Dog time travel episode was posted, in which Jim talks about how he was reluctant or worried about posting it, and almost didn't. I don't think anyone's listening to Video Games Hot Dog for clues to FF2, and I also don't think Jim is putting any clues in there. But he was saying, pretty informally, that he had some reason not to post "Hot Dog Time Machine". I think that episode and maybe the others need more attention.

By the way, the text that accompanies the transcripts for episodes on the Train Hot Dog Wiki may be important.

Different URLs

Been reading progress so far, and I got to say, I'm impressed with everything you guys have figured out so far. Looking forward to some Fractions 2! Very Happy

Not sure if it would help much, but I did notice that when I'm on http://trainhotdog.cool/ and click on the link pointing me to Hot Dog Network, the url stays the same, even if I choose any of the 4 options.

More podcast stuff

I'm too lazy to decode it but Jim was on another podcast called the Red Pages podcast. They had an extrasode that had some obviously encoded stuff. May or may not be the same stuff that was in the train hot dog. Also I think one of the guys said he's now working with jim so there's a high likelyhood that there's something useful in here. http://redpagespodcast.com/episodes/

Edit: Hm I had it downloaded to my podcast app on my phone but autodeleted after I listened as per my settings but I can't get the version on the website to load right now. I swear I'm not just lying about this.

Which number of the Red Pages podcast?

Edit:

Found it, the "Extrasode"

Direct link is here, and you're right, some obviously encoded stuff Smile

Can someone post timestamps of the suspicious bits in the "extrasode"?

I haven't listened to all of it, but the main suspicious bit is from about 37:30 until about 40:00. Spectrogram of that bit here: http://i.imgur.com/QAffgAI.png

There's some noise which could well be encoded data as well as what sounds like morse code.

The morse code translates to:
Quote:

RPS SSENIHSUM TNAREBUXE ERIM SSENIHSUM TNAREBUXE ERIM

which backwards is:
Quote:

MIRE EXUBERANT MUSHINESS MIRE EXUBERANT MUSHINESS SPR

Strange.

Also, the speech in the background is an excerpt from"I, Robot" by Isaac Asimov.

The full quote:
Quote:

"You can't tell them," droned the psychologist slowly, "because that would
hurt and you mustn't hurt. But if you don't tell them, you hurt, so you must
tell them. And if you do, you will hurt and you mustn't, so you can't tell
them; but if you don't, you hurt, so you must; but if you do, you hurt, so you
mustn't; but if you don't, you hurt, so you must; but if you do, you-"
