I know you are just quoting the string as given in the article, but I see different letters when I look at the photo of the sword. The two letters they say are both 'R' look completely different to me.

What they say is a 'W' looks more like an upside-down 'M', which makes me suspect there is something else going on.

(I am assuming this is not a real museum piece, and that we are expected to be able to solve something which "scholars" have been unable to do?) Oh, nope. This is a real archaeology website, and the artifact is a real sword. I am spending no further of my time on it.
