Don't feel shitty about it, friend. It's unproductive.

Besides, I have something of a reputation for being acerbic to people. It ain't you.

The simple fact is that there are a lot of good things about the way videos have been done, and a lot of bad. There have been some spectacular failures in my time here, and more than a few actual gems.

I suppose even my reaction is tempered by the fact that the single largest reaction I have heard in regards to EMH is "post videos quicker!", and I happen to know for a fact that the guys all have full-time jobs and lives, and EMH is a hobby, not a career. (That's one thing I have to highlight.)

I mean, it's not like the internet is undergoing anything approximating a content drought. There will always be more things to watch online in between video releases.

For what it's worth, your ideas were very well thought out. I also think that if you have the free time, you should try to do some video work yourself. I've done some, it's quite fun. And who knows, maybe in four years I'll be passing along this knowledge to someone who thinks your series doesn't have enough answers.

Thanks for the response. I was a bit neurotic as I was writing that last post because I've been having a bit of a bad day already, but now I've resolved that real life stuff so I think you're being pretty reasonable. I'll just work on the tone of my posts so that I can avoid my chronic foot-in-the-mouth more often. And really, recent updates (in-character and out) have me convinced that Everyman HYBRID is getting there just as Marble Hornets did after experiencing similar update lags, so I don't really mind it as much now.

(And I have no immediate plans to make a series, but I do have plans to write about the mythos, so...)

Is this seriously a "complain about the series" post? And it's at the top of the forum? (Probably because it's a poll, but whatever.)

Does everyone need a new reminder that the creators of the series owe you nothing? Christ.

They owe me nothing, but at least i can critizice and share my opinion with others, can't i? I mean, is not like this is a forum where we discuss about this kind of stuff, isn't it?

Anyway, some points:

Dude, were you not around during the first two seasons of Marble Hornets? Twitter usage was common, and yeah, sometimes, it was in lieu of another video. But you know what? That was just what happened. This is nothing new.

MH did update with tweets but that was between entries and TTA videos that didn't come so far from eachother. I'm talking about those that update between months just to throw a bone to the followers

Not if you know where to look.

This is a problem that plagues many series. Most people don't want to follow things outside YouTube, because the videos are the most entertaining thing about VLogs (Surprising enough). Is not clear if it's the viewer's fault or the creator's but i will admit i'm on the bunch that only keeps track of a series if it's on YouTube.

That's your problem, bro. What do you do in the summer when weekly television shows aren't airing new episodes? Do you just stop caring about them entirely?

What a dumb point. TV usually has signed contracts with shows that have content ready for all the season once episode one shows up. YouTube and TV are like oranges and glass, you can't compare the two

And man, get down off your high horse. This is not a professional's game. The closest thing we have to actual professionals in this thing is the brotrinity. Everyone else is doing this as a hobby in the breaks from their actual life and jobs.

I think that's what bothers me the most about all of this: people seem to think that they've signed some sort of implied contract with the creators to create more work at a higher pace, but really what is happening is the creators are putting things out there and saying "this is here" without the promise of anything. If every Slenderman creative work were to stop right here, right now, you would have the same guarantee of new stuff as if they were all to continue: zero. And I don't know why you expect it. Or expect to have any say in what they do. It's simple: the creative direction of a series is not up to you, and if you don't like it, the door is over there.

I really think the ''don't like it, don't watch it'' thing is really dumb. If i see a series that show a lot of promise but makes stupid mistakes, woudn't they like to know instead of all the viewers just leaving without telling you why? Wich of the two is more disencouraging? How would the creators know what was good or wrong about their content, without the opinion of their viewers? What a dumb arguement to come up with

I know I'm lagging way behind, but well that's because I don't often come around here, since the things I was following either don't update, deleted themselves when I was only halfway in, or whatever.

Sure, I guess you can say I'm "not owed anything," & should just "not watch" if I'm dissatisfied. Personally, I don't see what the point in making a series is if people don't care whether or not they actually have an engaged audience, but if it makes them happy, whatever.

Also, I don't really need to know how to do something to know if it's not quite right. I am fairly mediocre at drawing, but I can still spot things like inaccurate body proportions or poor depth cues. Because perception & production are largely unrelated abilities.

Sure, there's "no shortage of things to watch," but once you account for Sturgeon's Law & find something you actually want to see, it's not really encouraging when we're now wondering whether or a lot of the most successful series ever in the genre are even going to finish, let alone some quirky series with a shoestring budget, half a dozen videos, & a double-digit audience. It certainly doesn't help that there isn't a lot of variety (name me a series without the "Proxy" Trope, for instance).

The big five will eventually have resolutions, just forget about them and let 'em surprise you when they update. These dudes changed their priorities in life, and vlogs are at the back of the bus. Shit happens.

Also lol CL44 took such a nosedive haha.
