So according to the Julian calendar, today is August 27, since the calendar is lagging 13 days behind the Gregorian...

I'm sure I wasn't the only person who noticed that Nep2ne's photo of his working out of Callum's cryptex reveals a big "X" in the middle. Callum's original Facebook photo was a version of the X8 Scrabble tile, and as Nep2ne pointed out, the number sequence reduces to 8. And, we all know that the MK sculpture on 88's page is named "Octo". I'm thinking we need to play with the Scrabble angle more. Do any of you have a Scrabble board lying around? For example, how many points would "awakened" net, and in what permutations? Could the letter R in the star position in the middle of the X be significant?

Also, the poem mentions a split person, and the whole Torchwood "Adam" thing has me thinking along the likes of "sleeper" personalities. Lucy had talked about taking new names within the organization, but I'm thinking that they acquired more than just agent code names. I think they were imprinted with agent personalities. I think "Sandwell's" does more than just mess with memories; I think it alters personalities or enables personality programming. That Torchwood episode had characters behaving in polar opposite ways, like reverse universe versions of themselves. All of which ties in to the whole reflection thing in this game. We know that Callum was also Dove/Columba, but Dove was "wiped" by 88 according to the page WriterNancy found. Callum is still around, but his Dove identity is gone - or is it? What if Dove/Columba is his real self, and Callum is the agent personality, and Columba is still knocking around inside the agent's head trying to get out? What if the same thing was going on with Lucy/Lucinda?

Edited to Add: The page WriterNancy found also talks about "Project Ultra MK", so I looked it up and found

This may or may not be relevant, but the Julian Calendar was the calendar most commonly used before the current Gregorian, and any day's given Julian date is an option on the site Callum referred to earlier: http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?country=23

Interesting! I was thinking maybe Ed was referring to a different calendar, but hadn't a clue which one it could be.

Also, been pondering the Solve Poem. I think the 'ark' might be in reference to the now disused (or rather dismantled) Argo Navis constellation. It's right next to Columba i.e. Noah's Ark and Noah's Dove.

The poem also mentions that only the one with a split mind will tread the older ways. In true Lucy-camp form, I'm thinking we might have to consider more the pagan festival of Mabon than the actual equinox? I had maybe a theory about what the poem could mean, but now I'm not sure how Ed's extra four lines play into all of this.

This all started with an Eclipse, so perhaps it is fitting that there will be a total lunar eclipse on September 27 at 7:51 p.m. Pacific time... and that it will also be not only the closest and largest supermoon of 2015, but also -- more importantly for that third line of the poem -- both a Harvest Moon and a Blood Moon.

Also, according to at least one site, to dream of "The eclipse of the moon, portends contagious disease or death" (although that does not appear the most common interpretation).

As for the fourth line, the Draconid meteor shower will be returning on the evenings of October 8-9.

This was my interpretation as well, although I would add that the "awakened" part could refer to the Draco character at 88 becoming active again. I'm relatively new to this ARG, so I haven't encountered Draco before, but others have mentioned him.

I'm continuing to try to figure out the "retort" and "postscript" comment made by E. Nigma yesterday re: the four-line poem included in his latest riddle. I went through each of the postscripts included in Letters to His Son, by Lord Stanhope (author of the quote re: whoever is in a hurry, etc., but so far, nothing jumps out as relevant.

More on eclipses

Some religious leaders believe that because this month will see the fourth consecutive lunar eclipse since April 2014, it is part of a "tertrad" - which foretells a meteorite destroying earth and the end of time.

Four

Is it a coincidence that the Dragon poem seems to refer to the fourth total lunar eclipse of a lunar tetrad in September, and that E.Nigma keeps referring to "four lines"? (tetrad: group of four)

Annnnd more on moons

Sep 28 will be the first blood/super/full moon (total lunar eclipse while the full moon is as its perigee) since 1982. The next occurrence will be in 2033.

PS... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postscript
Postscript - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A postscript (P.S.) is an afterthought, thought of occurring after the letter has been written and signed.[1] The term comes from the Latin post scriptum, an expression meaning "written after"[2][3] (which may be interpreted in the sense of "that which comes after the writing").

...still completely baffled. Very Happy

Some of you have asked about calendars and timings here at 88. We use the standard calendar, whichever states that today is 9/9/15 [that'll amuse the English/American divide!] and use GMT as we are in the UK. Though currently summer time... its [looks at computer] 9.25pm right now.

So that's a no go on the Julian calendar. Oh well, he did want us to go deeper, just not that deep Smile

I agree that the blood moon eclipse on the 28th fits the poem. I just don't get the 15 star-filled days in that case. 15 days from when? I mentioned Mabon because Lucy was really into paganism and it's apparently a festival celebrating the last harvest before winter. The eclipse fits more, but the timing seems a bit off...

More random thoughts
The poem

Quote:
All dreams will be death flooded
When the balance tips towards the dark
Again the great harvest becomes blooded
King dragon spits towards our ark
Ending fifteen star-filled days
No one will tread the older ways
Except the one whose mind is twain
Drawing on both sun and rain

To recap what others have brought up:

The balance tips toward the dark on September 23, the Fall Equinox
The great harvest is the Harvest Moon on September 27 (which is also the moon at perigee, and there'll be an eclipse as well)
The spitting dragon is the Draconid Meteor shower on October 8 (15 days after the Equinox)

I think the "one whose mind is twain" might be Janus, the two-faced god of doorways, gateways, transitions - who is also the god of both war and peace, the original Chaos deity in some interpretations, but definitely a deity of duality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janus

I don't know if this is part of it, but the northern shaft of the King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza aligns with Alpha Draconis from time to time. There is apparently all kinds of speculation to what this means, from the second coming of Christ to rituals of rebirth.

This one's just for fun:

No one will tread the older ways ----Mythology
Except the one whose mind is twain ----between Asgard and Midgard
Drawing on both sun and rain -----rainbow---rainbow bridge

Which leads to Thor's day (October 8th) Smile

Balance

"When the balance tips towards the darkness" could refer to the point where nights start getting longer than days -- the autumnal equinox. Found the following re: Libra (the scales, balance) "It has also been suggested that the scales are an allusion to the fact that when the sun entered this part of the ecliptic at the autumnal equinox, the days and nights are equal.[8] Libra's status as the location of the equinox earned the equinox the name "First Point of Libra", though its position ended in 730 because of the precession of the equinoxes.[9]" (Wikipedia)

Still completely stumped on the postscript comment.

Yet more randomness
Gotta love insomnia...

So, in thinking about the whole twain mind, and sun and rain thing, the word "paradox" occurred to me. One author who has explored and personified paradox is William Blake, who was referenced earlier in this game.
