Thought I'd look to see which of the downloaded thd's I have downloaded have ID3 data, and thd16 seems to be the only one I've seen that does have it when I open it in notepad. I'm not too familiar with what I'm seeing, but does it seem odd that the others don't have this info?
Also, under properties the genre is listed as blues.

thds I've looked at: 8, 12, 14, and 16-22
If we've not already done so, maybe it'd be worth checking 1-7, 9-10, 13 and 15.

Here's hoping we find something. Very Happy

Similar corrupted image to the "woman in gold" before. Maybe we need to piece them together somehow?

Corrupt episodes appear to be a bug

Reference to "Mire Exuberant Mushiness" but I don't think there's anything much deeper

Cool, I was just about to post these tweets! Very Happy

These are my hypothesis: 1) the first one (about mire etc.) was just to say "hey FF2 arg'ers, pay attention to this tweeter account, it's related." 2) The second one, about the corruption, shows that they're actually reading this thread; Mister's post about the podcast being corrupt was from Oct 08 if I'm not mistaken (2 days before the tweet). Of course it could just be a coincidence, but maybe they're saying "we're watching!". 3) The king card is definitely related. They both look like zombies with red eyes, with similar markings in their face.

Now, other than "what do these zombified images mean?", there's another question: "who's Herbie?"

Have you guys noticed this other tweeter account before?

Edit: By the way, where was that "www.gustavklimptuplink.com" url? I never found that in the ID3 of the podcast's MP3...

If you open the MP3 as a text file it's there on the first line.

Weird. I just re-downloaded the podcast to be sure and this is what I get:

Maybe something else changed in this recording?

The Great Gadsby starts with an ephigraph.

Quote:
Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry 'Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!'

I just went through the whole Ep. 55 of RPP (phew!) and noticed one part that I think ties in with the "username is the number six" anagram. The real interview starts around 1h03min with (roughly) the following exchange:

RP - what's your favorite number?
JC - I don't really have one.
RP - (...) were you going to say seven?
JC - No... There are a lot of numbers that start with ssss... Hm, but also what starts with ssssi... I don't really have one! (laughs)
RP - I was going for a 7th guest reference...
JC - Still can't think of... Still can't think of one.

I don't know, it feels like he was going for a six, but hiding it.

There's also a quick burst of static at 1:10:29, and in the final 2 or 3 minutes there's a lot of what seems like artificial stuttering, but I couldn't make anything of it.

The first tweet, "And Herbie screamed" is a line from Asimov's short story Liar (thanks jimmc3rd!) wherein a telepathic robot becomes catatonic after encountering a situation where it is forced to hurt a person no matter what it does (violating the First Law of Robotics). Could definitely be the Herbie from the RPP tweet. Are the images a symbol of Decay? Are both images supposed to be robots? There's Lady in Gold (Robot in Gold?) and the king of spades. King and Queen perhaps?

The second tweet contains the first line of The Great Gatsby with all E's removed. The novel Gadsby was written without using the letter E. My guess is that this is just a joke and not a clue.

No ID3 information in any other THD. I've checked 1-22, downloaded either today or yesterday. THD10 and THD16 contain some XMP information from Adobe Audition CC, but it's just metadata that didn't get scrubbed. Doesn't appear to contain anything relevant.

I'm still looking through all the other THD spectrograms. Nothing interesting so far. I think the notch filter at 2 kHz was just an attempt to clean up the podcast and not a clue. There are a few other THDs that have steady noise at 2 kHz that I imagine is annoying to listen to.

Herbie

Herbie is also the name of a famous bug... VW Bug that is.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbie

Just thought I'd throw that out there in case the waters weren't muddy enough already.

With such a strong time-travel theme, I'm surprised we've found (or rather noticed) little or no significant dates to move us along.
Here's a small list of time/dates that I was thinking that would most likely have any real significance:

"gadsby" printed 1939
Ashby page copyright 1999
Ashby founded 1777
Ashby comes to new world when abbey burns down during Blue Revolution of 1738
"Liar!" printed 1941
"I, Robot" 1950
Feb 3, 19XX

I'll probably get around to posting another composite list of our clues soon. My guess from the tweet including the Spooky King of Spades is that we have all the pieces of the puzzle and now need to figure out these logins.
The more likely scenario is we still have a ways to go, but we'll see I guess.

Very Happy

I also think we have everything we need, but haven't found a way to use the passwords or anything.

Herbie the Love Bug would seem to fit the Bug Porn theme - but that seems a bit of a stretch.

Has anyone tried logging into the Ashby site with usernames related to the Ashby characters, like Charles Foster Ashby, Hunter S. Gunderson, or Amy Rengstorff (from the original Kickstarter video)? I tried a few different usernames based on those and none worked, but it might just be because I had the wrong passwords. Seems like the Ashby staff should have their own logins on their site.

This does not seem to contain anything concerning FF2 sadly.
