Looking for some guidance from experienced PMs
Running an active game

Hi - PM here currently running an active game. If your players aren't collectively associated as yet, (no wiki started, etc) how do you get in contact with them OOG without breaking character? I don't want to rip the curtain at all.

I'm looking for a, or several, experienced PMs here I could speak to, who are relatively active. Who can I reach out to?

I'm not a PM, just wondering a few things in general. How long has your game has been out there? Have you given your players time to form a group and find their own solutions? Does your gameplay require a wiki, for example, or could players simply track their own clues offline? Have you provided an ingame forum, or are you assuming Unfiction is the only place where the game is being discussed?

If you are not getting the behaviour you want, maybe you need to rethink your expectations. As a player, I wouldn't respond well to a game telling me how it should be played. If you're only asking about increasing your numbers of participants, that's more tricky. Sometimes it's not the fault of the players you have now, but the audience you have not yet reached.

Trout? Did I use that word correctly? Been a long time since the Beast. I think it's probably used wrong, so sorry if I have.

I'll go in reverse order.

I'm not looking to maneuver my players this way and that; I'm looking for a way to inform those playing of a fairly important OOG thing that's coming up soon, which looks like it might affect the IG but doesn't, at all. I don't want them to confuse IG with OOG, especially as the OOG thing involves money, being a Kickstarter-equivalent, and the IG is and will remain completely free.

I figured out a solution, though.

And man my communication skills are poor. Sorry - on a completely separate note, I was looking to reach out to any PMs who're relatively active on UF forums, or for recommendations as to where I could reach out to anyone else's.

For the other questions, against in reverse order:
- I am assuming that UF is the only place where the game is being discussed. If I'm wrong, I'll be really happy.
- I have not provided an ingame forum, although that may be a possibility in the future. Thank you for the idea!
- Since this plot is partially chaotic fiction but mostly planned (no relation to Slenderman mythos), I suspect it may need a wiki at some point in the future. Players could track their own clues offline, but there's enough breadcrumbs to support collaborative work as well.
- You're right. I'm impatient. I'd still really appreciate talking to an experienced grassroots PM though, as there are some organizational issues cropping up that I'd like to resolve before it becomes an issue with the players.
- Game's been out there for quite a short time. I don't want to give the exact date as I don't want to break the curtain at all.

Thank you very much, catherwood!
