Keyed Caesar

It's a 'keyed Caesar' cipher - you can look it up very easily, but basically you choose a keyword and write that keyword, then all OTHER letters alphabetically:

FIVEABCDGHJKLMNSOPQRSTUWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

And use that as the cipher - it can be combined with a shift as well. Smile

Thanks. So, just tested my key/sword in the stone theory, didn't pan out. The key in granite seemed like it was the right direction. Welp. Thanks again.

I haven't e-mailed yet, but if someone posts that they agree with me then I will.

If that IS the case, it really isn't a big deal, but I would urge the PM to take their time - I would rather wait an extra day for the puzzle if it means it is encrypted properly! Smile

I agree. I think you should email him, at least. That seems too close to be a coincidence. Also, I was thinking, maybe the 5 next to key is the shift?

I emailed him with my theory and got this response:

I noticed the same thing, but was under the impression that the extra letters were there to indicate that those letters are part of the message. So I would leave out the extra w and extra z (see how there are also two of the letter S, R, O, D, H, etc.?)

Thanks for your help!

So if we use: SROD HWALAZOM (like he suggests) then decode it using "explosive" as the key for the Caesar we do indeed get: FUEL OXIDIZER

So, if that's the solution, then maybe we just type one in on one monitor and the other on the other monitor? I will email noah tonight asking him to try pressing keys on the keyboard and see what happens. Otherwise,
Oxidizer: Mainly liquid oxygen (LOX)
Fuel: Liquid kerosene, Hydrazine, Liquid hydrogen...

Real fine sleuthing Nashman88 and everybody!

On to Level Two:

Level Two: If the key doesn't fit…
JANUARY 10, 2016
Thanks to those of you who helped out with Level One!

The key words worked in each terminal, and to my surprise the marble block released the key. It also opened to reveal Level Two of the cockpit, which is a completely empty room, containing only one lock.

They key from the marble block? Doesn't fit the lock.

So we are again at an impasse.

Soooo... from the previous keywords do we need to come up with a way to blow the lock??

Maybe there is still something to do with the terminals ?
