I know twins and co has been debunked...

But for some reason I was still playing around on it and found a link their listings for houses with bomb shelters. They use some weird pictures at the bottom!

Hah, that is really weird. I was trying to figure out where the image from the 3-11-16.com site was from. I was scouring that realty site. I'm glad someone figured it out haha.

Actually, all of the product stuff is what's killing me. In Cloverfield, the first thing that was found was the 1-18-08.com website, coming from that initial teaser with just the release date. In Super 8, the initial hint came from the phrase at the end of the first trailer. In this movie, we've only come up with clues from a product. I feel like something is being missed. Both of the other films I mentioned had products associated with them too, but they weren't what lead people to the movie specific site. I feel like something else in the trailer should lead us to something that's more movie specific.

There are other things that could be looked into for sure. Swamp Pop seems to be having fun with all the attention right now, but there's no solid lead there yet.

I think there might be something behind all the Eiffel Tower imagery. It could just be a nod to fan art that showed it being destroyed.
"I Think We're Alone" was chosen for a reason. It gives the trailer a creepy vibe, but there could be more to it.
The phrase "home sweet home" appears in more than one place (pillow & wall art).
I'm trying to make out the plaque on the wall behind MEW in the scene where they're playing LIFE.
Note to self: watch HD trailers on something larger than a cellphone. 😶

Happy grasping all. 😊

Hehe, yes, it's nature of human being to search! Smile
And that's real estate is really funny, isn't it?

A question to people, who's got the mail with "Dear John".
1) can you please postva Screenshot with the whole letter?
2) can you check the source code in the mail? Some Bad Robot ARGs hid clues in the source.

I know this is a real business so we shouldn't pester them too much but has anyone called the phone number thats on their facebook to flat out ask whats up with the long term supply?

[big ball of NOPE!]

i know people have been emailing but this is a pretty good way to have a live person either tell us no flat out...which id be ok with...or dodge the question which means we are hopefully onto something?

~~~~~ I can't stop you personally from calling a real business, but as you ALREADY STATE, it is a real business and we shouldn't pester them. So I ask that you not post the number here. Thanks! ~ Pixie
Nice idea.
If they are really professional PR, they should use answering machine Smile
I'm still at Dear John.
Sounds like beginning of a letter. I just hope you doesn't need to buy Swamp Pop order after order in order to get the whole letter line for line.
And now let's imagine.
Dear John is Goodman, he has crush in Paris with a femme fatal speaking about Eiffel Tower and urge to jump into the void.
Hmm... We should look for this French Madame.
Thats what i was hoping!! that its a recording since Im sure theyre prolly getting tons of emails and calls. If its a recording itll be pretty easy to pick out whats code and what isnt. thatll last us another 30 pages of posts
Edit: things to ask about...
1) long term supply
2) lapelle du vide. maybe like allude to a food allergy and ask if it was ever known by another name...perhaps seabeds nectar?
3) as how the weather in the east cost has been affecting supply delivery and whats been going on out there?
thats all i got for now
The numbers punched into the jukebox are clearly being presented to us as pretty important. That's what I keep coming back to. Why show them at all otherwise? It's an odd thing to focus on in a trailer for a thriller/monster movie. JJ loves his mcguffins, so they could be misdirection I guess.
But I also think you might be right about the song - Someone on Reddit pointed out that the lyrics are "there doesn't seem to be any *one* around."
It would be pretty clever if they were actually referring to the actual number 1. After all, it's skipped over when they punch in the numbers. That seems like it could be hinting at something.
So maybe we have to do something with ones. Skip, Subtract or remove it from another number we've been given (4813? Or even 10 - it's a pretty bizarre non-sequitur of a title). I've tried a few variations of this myself, and punched them in as dot coms but nothing so far.
I fraking love it. They didn't need to make an ARG, look at all the activity and publicity they are getting from people convinced there is one. I'm certain they just expected the way they dropped the trailer to create enough buzz by itself, but jeezy creazy - between here, Reddit, and a plethora of websites "reporting" - who needs to make something when the absence of that thing gets this big. I don't think you're wrong, that is exactly what one half of my brain is telling me. Since every major Bad Robot production has had some kind of trans media content, it would be odd if this one didn't. An intentional, surprising kind of odd. It would be the last thing people would expect, and we all know how JJ loves to surprise people. After all, why bother, when redditors are creating their own args inside their heads at this point?
But the other half of my brain... Well, this is going to sound weird but I actually found out about this movie a few days before the trailer dropped. I was initially just wondering what JJ was up to next after Star Wars. My path from there is convoluted and I won't get into it, but eventually I figured out something was going on with this "Valencia" movie. It was clear it was being suppressed - intentionally hidden & buried. I found the director talking about the trailer being finished & screening it months ago - yet it was nowhere to be seen and "Valencia" was clearly a codename. I was actually convinced it might have been a Valve/Portal movie, given the first time director's SOLE past film of importance, and JJ & Gabe Newell's stated commitment to make such a work, eventually. When the trailer dropped a few days later, I was pretty shocked, but pleasantly so.
All of which is to say there's definitely something weird going on here. Which is what makes me inclined to say it seems like there could be, SHOULD be an ARG. Or something.
People, you all are right. At the one hand there can be much ado about nothing, which can bring more spreading success than any financial heavy commercial.
But at the other site, Back Robot doesn't underestimate the power of desolution and frustration at the target group, when there will be nothing behind all those hints. People don't forget beeing fooling around, and Bad Robot does know it. So I hope, there will be something.
Re: Dear John Reply
Cut out the bottom of the email because it mentioned my personal information, but this is the entirety of the message before confirming the shipping info (which was correct)
Would upload to imgur but I'm at work, so sorry in advance for posting like this!
EDIT: Just realized the john being mentioned is John Petersen, the owner of Swamp Pop. Since they use ShipStation to ship products from a NE warehouse, I bet this is just their form email to let them (and the customer) know what's happening? The line 'forward the tracking number onto the customer' was overlooked originally, which would lead us to believe that these are form emails that are forwarded to us by SwampPop?
Point is, I think this is a false alarm. Embarassed
