The fist couple letters are, I think, "La" then more letters - potentialy another short word (maybe vie or rue?) and then a third word that is something like Creole or Cajun? Last word definitely starts with a C and seems like it maybe ends in an N? Definitely seems like french to me. Although LA is also the abbreviation of Louisiana.

La vie Cajun, La rue Creole, both of those seem like they'd make sense as appropriate cheezy decorative kitchen signage in rural LA. They don't mean anything in particular though.

As for the whole "it's cashing in on product placement" let's put that one to rest already

And these, for curiosity sake Smile

honestly i see a truck, either a bread truck like this one http://imgur.com/xY684em

or an Ice/Ice Cream like cold delivery truck, atleast on the left of the object.

It looks like there's a gap, but of the trucks i've looked up for comparison none have that wide of a gap and look like the front end, so it's possible there's something else there, like a side of a building blocking the rest of the truck

Rue is a street designation in Louisiana, could be a street name/sign.....example Bourbon St is actually Rue Bourbon

Alright. New international TV spots. Everything looks pretty much the same, except there are a couple taglines. Hmm, interesting.

A detail I noticed, to bolster the idea of...

"3. It looks like yellow farm equipment, the back one looks like a barrel, hazardous waste barrel?"

As I mentioned in my post back on pg. 28, in the trailer you can see a yellowish 'hazmat' type sticker on the barrel the characters are standing semi-circle around ( sticker's on right side, down by JGs thigh).

And, about that 'close-up' in MEWs eye...

"...similar to Super8, there might be something in the tiny lens of her eyes…"

This here's a J.J. type 'joke' - look at the outline in her eyes...then look the logo for 'Bad Robot'.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c3/BadRobotLOGONEW.jpg

Coincidence...? Perhaps.

Wink

I looked pretty closely at the sign in the kitchen behind the tea pot and I'm pretty sure it says:

LA ICE CREAM

I think the reason it's confusing is because the teapot pour spout looks like a third letter. This would line up with the theory posted above that it's an ice cream or bread style truck outside the bunker door.

My general feeling here is that this is all a wild goose chase, that Swamp Pop is not IG and is just riding the tide (a little bit inappropriately IMO), and if there is an actual lead to follow, we haven't found it yet. But at this point given the timeline to the movie and the amount of time that Super 8 and Cloverfield took to build up to the release, I just feel like there isn't an ARG here. The only thing that makes me think twice is that the Swamp Pop store update for the Shelter Supply was supposedly before the trailer leaked.

But it's not very "like" BR to involve a real world product for this. The only way I think that this might be actually IG is if, because this was developed secondarily for Paramount, they looked at the movie *after* shooting and looked at the same things we would look at, and then reached out to Swamp Pop because it feels like Rocket Poppeteers and Slusho and asked them to play along. But even *still*, it doesn't feel like a lead so much as just a cute transmedia moment for Swamp Pop.

So… *shrug*?

Ok, yep I definitely see ICE CREAM now too, although looking at it again I'm actually thinking the cannister in front of it is blocking off part the first word and the part that looks like LA is the end of word - probably says something like "fresh ice cream" or "cold ice cream. I'm still fairly confident it's a cutesy generic kitchen sign.

Yeah. I'm not 100% sure on the L, but I definitely see:

_A ICE CREAM

I've done some googling around with NOLA, LA, etc. and various Louisiana terms attached to ice cream and I'm not coming up with anything.

I don't think this is a lead anyways. Typically the jump off point for BR ARGs isn't *obvious* but it's always *clear* once you find it. For example the Star Trek ARG started with those websites written on the wall behind the costumed girls in those photo albums… it was kind of hard to spot, but the information (once you spotted it) was clear.

So yeah, I think we're making our own game at this point.

Yes, "CREAM" was the one word that I thought I could make out. Doesn't seem to amount to anything, but I appreciate everyone taking a look.

The other thing I've been straining my eyes on are all the things stuck on the refrigerator, which is visible in the scene where they're making sandwiches in the kitchen. You can make out some photos, and a couple of printed documents of some kind, all of which appear to be stuck to the fridge using those colorful, plastic magnetic letters I remember having as a kid.

There just doesn't seem to be enough resolution to make out anything. I've tried to figure out what the 4 letters in the upper left corner of the fridge are, but even they're hard to make out.

By grabbing screenshots of the different places where it's visible, the most I can see of the text on the tshirt is either "The Gree_" or "The Grea_". Not much to go on.

I did some searching for the shirt last night, but came up empty handed. I don't expect it to be a lead though simply because they've already done that and it's nearly impossible to make out so far. If there is a lead, I think we'll find it another way.

Also, if anything does come of this I think it'll be to flesh out the story like before. We all know Cloverfield didn't have a lot of character development because we got that before (and some after). With this story looking to be more character driven, we might get information on what's out there, what's coming.

With nothing better to do, I searched for a pre-existing ice cream sign. This example's font would explain why the first letter looks like an L from a distance. (I believe I also saw it without the bottom portion, available online, or the bottom phrase could be blocked by the shelf from our angle of viewing it from below.)

Regarding the Eiffel Bunker

Just want to clarify something, when I posted that I found the Eiffel Tower had a bunker under it I never meant that it was likely to be the location in the movie.

It is however, a large coincidence with the number of Eiffel Tower items in the trailer bunker. What interests me more now is the fact that the Eiffel Tower is setup for radio and television broadcasts. To quote from Wiki:

Quote:
The tower has been used for making radio transmissions since the beginning of the 20th century. Until the 1950s, sets of aerial wires ran from the cupola to anchors on the Avenue de Suffren and Champ de Mars. These were connected to longwave transmitters in small bunkers. In 1909, a permanent underground radio centre was built near the south pillar, which still exists today. On 20 November 1913, the Paris Observatory, using the Eiffel Tower as an aerial, exchanged wireless signals with the United States Naval Observatory, which used an aerial in Arlington, Virginia. The object of the transmissions was to measure the difference in longitude between Paris and Washington, D.C.[67] Today, radio and television signals are transmitted from the Eiffel Tower.

Right now, I'm thinking that if the whole world is in chaos the tower may have been used to warn others or John Goodman may have overhead something on the radio from the military which caused him to start prepping his own bunker. Just a thought.
