Please don't call anyone honey. It's patronizing. And you've already spent your goodwill here.

And No. I'm not new to this. I remember. Lions, right?

This is actually pretty different because there is no ARG. (So far). Who knows, we may find something yet? But it's not looking like anything right now.

In previous JJ games, we were given a clue to a site that had a computer console counting down, an ad for popsicles that took us to a site under construction coming soon, etc.. In these cases we found the not yet activated pages and had to wait until they were 'turned on' so to speak.. We emailed them and got replies saying basically we would be contacted when the time comes or somesuch..

To this end, if there is a game brewin, perhaps the 'sold out' radioactive sign on SP's site is the link waiting to become active once the gazillion sodas are back in stock..What picture would go there when the supposed product is normally available? Perhaps when back in stock, clicking on buy now will take us to the next clue? It figures that anyone coming to SP's site would not be seriously interested in buying a 15 year supply of sodas for $4813 so why put it there? They did return some emails saying they would contact you when supplies resumed from the east coast,.. Perhaps that is what we are waiting for... or not.. Just a thought..

Sadly, I bought mine from the World Market. Putting an order through SP website now though!

If this is real then FINALLY! A lead we can follow! The game is afoot. Although, I must say, a literal puzzle - interesting touch. And if this turns out Swamp Pop doing it's own ARG with permission, kudos to them!

Puzzle is of the Eiffel Tower. Clearly. We should probably check White Mountain puzzles to see if they've done one that fits.

This makes me think SP is just playing along. But I guess we should put the puzzle together and see.

It's actually still kinda cute of them to do this on their own though.

RE: Puzzle

I only have three pieces--the backs are light blue cardboard. I think the photo tells it is the eiffel tower, look at the beams and wires. That being said, Reddit thinks I am faking so I need you guys to have ordered some so we can piece (ha) this together.

I'm uploading the shipping sheet in a minute for proof

I havn't gotten mine yet. It is currently set to be a few more days before it arrives, I think. That said, those puzzle pieces look an awful lot like a certain tower in France. Just saying.

How did they know your order was not just a customer who wanted some pop to send you puzzle pieces? Did you mention anything about the movie or game etc?

The Puzzle Pieces

Looking through the Eiffel Tower puzzle options. This would be my best guess to which it is (http://www.amazon.com/Re-Marks-Eiffel-Tower-Puzzle/dp/B0030CI28W/ref=sr_1_7?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1453488630&sr=1-7&keywords=Eiffel+Tower+puzzle)

It's not 550 pieces...

Couple of new trailers up on Paramount's YouTube site:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhNdH9H3x6A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUSqSORFGQE

Don't really see anything new, but haven't gone over them yet. Just seems like clips taken out of the original trailer.

Happy digging.

I didn't include a note because I wanted to see what would happen if I didn't. My theory is that the online shop doesn't get a lot of biz (especially because they are almost completely nationwide at this point) so maybe they are in all of them? putting the puzzle together would be really hard though, ha

Oh honey why don't you stop trying to tell people what to do. I'm grown and don't answer to you. Smile You also don't know whether there is an ARG or not. Neither does anyone else. I always said SP is IN GAME. I N G A M E.

It's barely been a week now. We've had a weekend, national holiday and serious weather. And a lot of debate on SP.

ANYWAY, was just looking over the products on display and thought I'd share this one while here.

See, everyone's real quick to dismiss it but it absolutely shows every evidence of in game trail head or rabbit hole, whatever term you might need to use. Some will find this just as hard to process because they think the sequence of events is that SP suddenly had their traffic increase and people sending them weird emails special requesting stuff so THEN they put up the ARG stuff to "nod" at ARG fans, and managed to sail over the part where the brand has to be rooted out first and then somebody finds the site, heads over there and THEN sees the ARG stuff on the shelter supply and THEN heads to their ARG community and tells people about it...and THEN the traffic increases and the orders start.

Otherwise they have the only traffic counter in history that not only knows the IP and browser but knows the motivations and groups these people are connected to.

I was curious about the other products that *are* clearly seen. Everybody saw that puzzle. There's a couple posts on it and threads on Reddit, IMdb and elsewhere. Same for the game of Life. People have been all over trying to find the tshirts and Eiffel tower pictures...anything for a website. Even for the book Threat Vector.

Plus, two props - the magazine and vhs box that apparently are outright fiction getting point blank up close and personal shots - in the natural course of the trailer.

But the product getting dismissed in its tracks for being just product placement somehow knowing ARG fans would show up because of the trailer - that happens to be the only real product whose brand is never shown outright like the others. Think about that.

Reeeeally think about it a minute.

Why is this beverage that is very real never actually shown blatantly on the table with the brand label visible? It's only shown, literally, in 8 frames. In every single one except where she reaches for it, it's always turned sideways, the label is never shown. Or the neck and top. The only time the label is in view is the rapid sequence she's reaching for it and then it happens so fast - in normal viewing - you never actually see the brand. The bottle is relevant only insofar as she grabbed it and smacked JG in the head.

All these products they do show, more than once, even fake ones, and this product placement that is allegedly what got people to their site never gets shown at all. And yet they're the ones who "nod" to ARG fans, nevermind what their actual real customers might think.

That all said, I decided to go check out a hunch....

White Mountain Puzzles is based in New Hampshire - extreme eastern seaboardish. I went to their website: http://www.whitemountainpuzzles.com/

I went through every single page and the catfish puzzle is not there.

I went to the serious puzzles site https://www.seriouspuzzles.com/catfish-550pc-jigsaw-puzzle-by-white-mountain.html

where it's shown as "out of stock" - just as the fake shelter supply is out of stock, and yet nary a mention of any monsters or Cloverfield, or even the trailer for that matter - it's like they don't even know that puzzle's in it. Or do they? Why didn't they "nod" to ARG fans showing up to see about that puzzle?

I used the product number and it doesn't show up on WM's site.

I went to White Mountain's facebook page - nothing there either.

https://www.facebook.com/WhiteMountainPuzzles/

So I noticed the artist is Lori Schori...found her website(s):

http://www.cypressfineart.com/index.html
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CypressFineArtLicensing

http://www.kenschory.com/ls/signs.htm
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lori.schory

Not only does this catfish puzzle seem to be out of stock, it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. It's now shown in any gallery for the artist, nor is it shown in White Mountains gazillion puzzle library. Neither of them mention having the catfish puzzle in the upcoming Abrams trailer.

Went to Hasbro's site just to see - knowing better - and of course, there's all sorts of things and yet nary a mention that the game is shown in the trailer. http://www.hasbro.com/en-us/product/the-game-of-life-my-dream-job-promo-pack-game:8F0B88A4-6D40-1014-8BF0-9EFBF894F9D4

Granted they're billionaires and don't need to worry about "product placement" but I wanted to be thorough and show that the visible branded game we've all played and enjoyed (or not) that's shown in the trailer like the other stuff has nary a mention of the trailer, Abrams, game, ARGs, Cloverfield or anything else. They didn't change their website either.

Visited Tom Clancy's page for Threat Vector: http://www.tomclancy.com/threat-vector-preview.php

Heh. Not happening.

I dismissed the peanut butter and marshmallow brands because it's only shown once and never again.

The books and TV are shown more than once in various shots in a natural flow. The puzzle is shown probably as frequently as the characters. The fake mag/vhs is shown more than once and up close so we could see the name pretty clearly. They're all blatantly shown in the trailer and not one of them seemed to be conscious of Cloverfield ARG fans showing up to see if it might yield anything, not even the ones - such as myself - who emailed at least two of them to ask about policies of product placement and being shown in the trailer.

The one product that is never once shown clearly is the one who managed to just anticipate a sudden flow of traffic to their site enough to motivate them to alter it just for us, for our benefit, hoping to make a hundred bucks off the ones who ordered stuff.

Why did it require somebody telling us it was a real brand and directing us to their site? Because it was not shown clearly in the trailer. ;-p

Let's play "one of these things is not like the others"....

I am curious about the puzzle though...it's like it doesn't exist either except for the trailer. It's possible it was a special request. And they fabricated a puzzle, a magazine, a video, genericized the peanut butter and marshmallow, and the one product that gives us anything to work with is the one whose product wasn't actually even seen.

Reeeally, guys? Come on now... Dunno
