kosmopol About brunging cryptography into mainstream - as I read your reply, I understood suddenly, that that's it! This is what we need in the times of total observations, governmental surveillance and ban of encrypted smartphones - we need Aufklärung, Enlightment about selfdefens via cryptography. So it's a wide field for ARG puppet masters, but a great one. Important one. Serious games at its best. Here is my hope.

I like this idea a lot, although to be fair, if you've done any reading into what Cicada is/was, it basically *was* this, but also seemingly went nowhere. It was inherently designed to target an audience of young Channers and Redditors, but even it couldn't account for their attention spans.

I also really the way you phrased analog/irl args as "haptic, olfactory and gustable" It's why I have moved from Video Games to Board Games. It's just more tactile, more physically immersive, while also allowing for more intellectual removal than... Well, where the technology is going. I'm not sure I want VR to be honest. I want to be able easily keep an eye on my kid or something in the oven while playing again.

The vintage game board puzzle

Hi All! Just registered here since the subreddit is... well, you know. Anyway, I think I have read the whole thread, but has anyone taken a closer look at the old game puzzle http://www.whitemountainpuzzles.com/Game-Pieces-1000-PC-White-Mountain-Puzzles/productinfo/1174PZ/#prettyPhoto mentioned earlier here? The Millenium Falcon feels like a "JJ was here" tag, and there's several things that looks interesting, including literally the word "Clue" with a bunch of letters on dice next to it. Also, "Dead end" with some numbers, "Case file: Confident" with letters and numbers next to it and on and on, I find more things the more I look...

...and Gimlet who posted the link to the puzzle also mentioned something about pigs I don't know the reference to, but if you look at the game puzzle the first three words from the top are "Pig" "Sorry" "Dead end".

Welcome to the theory-storm! I don't suppose you have a pic of this since I am on my phone at work? I fear my investigative skills are limited at the moment.

The pigs thing is two fold.

Firstly, there are pig themed knick-knacks in the bunker.

It leads me to believe something about the spec script is true:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The setting in the spec script is implied to be a pig farm

And really, really big spoiler that you really shouldn't click on unless you plan on reading the script or are ok with potentially spoiling an reveal in the movie:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
One of the times Michelle reaches the outside window of the bunker she sees a bunch of rotting pigs killed by chemical warfare through it.

Interestingly - and this is now spoilerish speculation - the Character designer I mentioned earlier has a new design on his site called "pig parasite." This could mean they kept the great script moment in, but adapted it slightly to the Cloverfield world.

Ok, now the puzzle stuff. I really can't tell you if I've got a bad case of Apophenia (the ability of the brain to find patterns - even if there are none - and actually I may). That skill can be very helpful to ARG hunting. It's also a curse if there is no ARG.

I'll tell you this though: if the Swamp Pop puzzle pieces are IG, I think the puzzle itself might be a red herring. Instead they could be conveying a simple message again in two parts:
A) We need to work together.
B) We need to take a closer look at the puzzle in the trailer.

Which is what has led me to believe that *maybe* something on White Mountain Puzzles is important. Like the help line or the bizarre puzzles themselves. Maybe both.

I'd call them and order up a puzzle myself, but alas, U.S. Only.

EDIT: also a third thing c) if Swamp Pop is in game then we need to be looking at existing products and websites - not ones made up for an arg. Which pretty much totally derails the argument of the Radio stuff being legit. It also gives the ARG a bit more security against Jacking, incidentally.

If memory serves, they have a help line for lost and found pieces. I expect to get my order of Swamp Pop today and can call it once confirmed whether or not I got puzzle pieces as I am in the U.S. Sound good?

It does! I mean everyone had to suspend belief and order Swamp Pop, and oddly, it actually panned out (well sorta, maybe). So I think it's *at least* worth an attempt. Someone actually did try the online help chat and came up empty, but the specific hotline still seems suspicious to me.

I'm fully expecting it to turn up nothing. But it'd be pretty neat if it did.

Awesome, I've added your link to the spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IC3214WjDhBNlXNDGoY_8XOgwZHRfs5uXRu4_DXozeM/edit#gid=0

If you get a chance to check your email, could you share your Swamp Pop Order # with us? Just helps us keep that thing organized a little bit. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I've updated the spreadsheet =)

If anyone else gets pieces today or later this week let me know so we can keep track! I'm hoping people start getting pieces that have some sort of message on them, maybe it will only be a small percentage of the pieces even and they'll save them for last... one can only hope there's something to this!

Would you, or someone, please link me to the script...? I tried a link earlier on but it wasn't working for me.

I have a humble suggestion: based on the pics and the fact that one of the users bought the original puzzle, it would be a good idea if you guys could collaborate and try and locate each piece as an x,y coordinate in the spreadsheet, that way you can keep a closer control of all the pieces gathered until now. Based on the shapes and colors, it shouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

Re: "The Cellar" spec script

I didn't download it myself, just found it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/10cloverfieldlane/comments/419rbo/the_cellar_script_pre_cloverfield_rewrites/?

If it helps, I'm usually mobile & have a Dropbox app that the file automagically opens in. Just checked it, and the file still works for me.
