It feels weird to me too. The Parisian file seems to be an edit of the other. Not only is it scaled down a bit, but it's also cropped a little bit (which is why you can see part of the underlay in the Grain Extract image I made). Then it seems like they applied the map over top of it and re-saved it. The extension is also jpeg on that file but jpg on the other (not that it means anything). Anyway it seems like edits made after the fact, and not even from the same working copy or I would expect to not see stuff like that. I could be wrong but "forensically" it feels like the one image existed and was then modified to add the map (and scaled and cropped) and re-saved. I don't know what exactly I'm getting at other than it just feels like the map was really intentionally embedded in there (like a clue would be), but of course we can't rule other possibilities out, this is just my hunch, or "gut" feeling.

Also the file being named Parisian obviously resonates with us, but of course it could all be coincidence and just an artistic choice they made for a creative they plan to use on social networks. I'm just asking myself what are the odds? Especially that the map is centered around the Atlantic ridge where Clover comes from. Anyway, could be coincidence or it could be a cute little nod to us and nothing more... I don't really see the map being a clue in itself, at least as far as getting any sort of lead. Maybe we should take a closer look at the image in general? Like run strings.exe on it or something (lol).

No problem! If you like a clearer trail of how we came up with this check out that other site that starts with an 'r'. It's currently the top post, and it was a collaboration of users that got us to the map.

Side note, for what it's worth: I consider these forums as my "home base" for ARG playing, and I understand some of our members disdain for that other site, and I agree there is a lot of -let's call them low quality- posts to wade through. However, with an ARG(-hopeful) with this much mainstream attention, I find that site better for reaching the masses (for example I have gotten 90% or more of the puzzle piece Spreadsheet data from there). Things just tend to move faster at the expense of it basically being a clusterfudge. So while I do find it useful for "crowdsourcing", it could never replace what we have here. Home Sweet Home.

I agree. The one thing that's been bugging me about Swamp Pop from the beginning is that it's a real drink, which is also utilized in the movie. For instance, if Slusho! were something you could purchase and drink it'd be one thing. Same with the Rocket Poppeteer things from Super 8. But with this item it's real, and I just find it hard to believe that they would be the launching of the ARG for the movie.

It seems much more plausible that they would just be having some fun with it, between the .Long-Term Shelter Supply, the puzzle pieces (which we now know don't have to do with actually having communicated with them), and now this.

Let's just say that this map is some kind of clue, and let's also say that it was done purposefully with the orange slice over the Chuai Station. Well that would take it out of IG anyway, because they'd be looking at it from an audience perspective.

Anyways, I guess I don't know exactly where I'm going with this, other than it's not farfetched to think that there is a map overlay, and it could have to do with Cloverfield, but I don't think it's anything official for 10CL.

 		maybe this actually is a post for IG and we just caught it really early? Like hopefully they post this image and the caption gives us a better clue as to what we are looking at. i do think its cool that its the atlantic but im not so quick to accept the orange and chuai connection is intentional

 		man that original ARG was so fuckin good lol...that GIF brought back all the memories of the morning we found all those news clips. There was sooooo much and man was it way easier to decipher wtf was going on.

Oh yes, I found these news very very high-quality. In various languages, but not just translated. There were interviews with victim relatives, etc. etc. I loved them.

The underlay sticking out is because the 2 original images are actually slightly different sized for some reason, and I used both images to get that result (one was a blending layer for Grain Extract).

EDIT: My explanation sucked reading it back to myself.. In shorter terms:

Yes. I originally posted the actual image before it was edited by unclear to show the map better. But I replaced it with his/her version after I found it on Reddit, because I figured it would be easier to see. I pop back and forth between here and there. Sorry for the confusion. I probably should have credited unclear in that post. Thanks, unclear!

 		It definitely seems like the Poptails image has been around for a while. It's on their Instagram from a year and a half ago (I'm not familiar with a way to fake date an Instagram post - although I'm sure there is one - I don't think it would be easy).

I also checked out the hashtag on Instagram and it seems a bit of failed attempt. Plenty of people are using it - just for other things. Most often cocktails with whole popsicles stuck in them. Which - woah. Yum!

Also jealous of everyone who's got to try these pops out. They sound delicious!

This kinda still feels like them being cute. Like they're playing us instead of us playing a game.

 		I was just checking the directory again, and they *just* deleted the two images in question, in the past ten minutes that I refreshed the page.

But I should have heard of it. It's a place of immense strategic importance. And check that ominous name! Fits right in with a certain other arg being played right now.

Well this is just turning out to be a big pile of nothing. Only the puzzle pieces seem like a real 'thing', and they haven't gone anywhere so far.
