So... I found something. Accidentally. Again.

I'm not entirely sure what it means. I keep ending up with more questions, not answers... Actually, maybe that feels exactly right for a JJ Abrams production.

Well, you know how a few pages back somebody made a joke about Google being in on this? We laughed, it was sillly, hilarious, right? Couldn't possibly be true? Well, there have been some odd things happening with Google and this movie.

I just woke up and clicked on the link in a Reddit post updating this movie's cast listing, but what caught my eye was not the cast.

valencia 2016 cast

So, in the little slider bar of related movies "people also search for" wedged between Star Trek and Star wars was an totally obscure old Troma B movie called Nightbeast. The interesting thing about Nightbeast is that the box art looks so incredibly similar to Cannibal Airlines I was startled.

http://www.avclub.com/article/don-dohlers-nightbeast-gave-jj-abrams-his-start-sc-228575

Interestingly, there are only two stills on Rotten Tomatoes for this movie right now. A closeup of MEW and John Gallagher holding up Cannibal Airlines.

And it seems Cannibal Airlines might actually be a little easter egg referencing JJ's first big break.

The same kind of big break he is right in the midst of giving to Dan Casey and Dan Trachtenberg.

There are also getting to be a number of similarities between the real companies referenced by this movie. - Swamp Pop, Troma, White Mountain Puzzles - all fiercely independant, American owned, operated and manufacturing companies.

Just like Cloverfield is the American monster movie.

This is increasingly seeming like a meta political statement by someone who's at the point in his career where he can afford to make one.

Oh, that's confusing and interesting!
Indeed, that's an ironic allusion to the whole entertainment industry in the US.

I'm feeling myself right now so:

(note the capture)

Btw. (Very Meta), Music seems to be very present in the Abrams Family. I am since yesterday huge fan by Gracie Abrams with her powerful voice and amazing music.

Hey, long time on-and-off lurker here, decided now was the time to stop lurking and start participating.

I know there has already been a handful of people voicing that they don't believe there is an ARG at this point, and I think I agree with them. I don't want to add another negative post that doesn't further the game, but I thought I would add a thought I had about how maybe not having a game makes sense in the context of the narrative. Most of the the previous ARG took place in relative real time to the movie, so as we participated we were actively working our way through essentially the prologue to the movie. Based on the trailer for 10CL I think it's a safe assumption that this movie takes place either during or after the events of the original Cloverfield. Would it make sense for characters to be uploading things to social media and clandestine organizations to be hiding clues on the web?

I think it's an interesting idea to think about, but here is hoping that this Tagruato business turns out to be something in the coming days!

IO9 Coverage

The possibility of an ARG for 10 Cloverfield Ln was just covered on IO9.

http://io9.gizmodo.com/cloverfields-old-viral-marketing-machine-is-up-and-runn-1756359650

They're just recapping the activity on Reddit. There's not anything new for people following this tread.

Sent off a second email to Tag from a different email account, since it is now Feb. If it was all automated, then the date should just change automatically.

Did anyone ever get an email back from SP? I'm kinda annoyed by that - if they didn't want a bombardment of emails from us guppies, they shouldn't have stuck their toes into the pond.

Good point.
Usgx hasn't revealed all its secrets back to the 2008.
Gonna check it out again.

I sent an email after 12 a.m last night and have yet to receive a reply. I may just try again from a different email.

Hello all! It is so good to see all of you (us) Cloverheads together again.

The username was Alyse Hanssen and password 11112014349. Also should report in and say I too recieved the Vanessa Gwon email. I replied with congratulations on employee of the month. Haven't heard anything back. My mind keeps playing with the anagram Swan Song Ave.

Lol, she definitely does have to, otherwise it can get dangerous Very Happy

All those sites and blogs bring back so many memories! Definitely Cloverfield ARG was amazing cooperative experience!

I have to agree. It's been so fun being back in it. I can't believe it's been 8 years. CloverfieldClues and IMDb were at the top of my hourly checklist back in the day haha.

I think we're looking at a good sign, since Tagruato hasn't been emailing anyone back yet. I guess people have been emailing since just after Midnight, and no replies. It'd be sad to get the same message with only a change in month.

Also, I tried emailing that CIA agent, John, from the Alyse Hanssen blog, but got a 'Failure to Deliver' message, so no luck on that front.

I never realized her last post had mentioned one more lead she had back on May 5, 2008. Did anything ever turn up with that, or is that still a mystery?

Oh yes, at Cloverfield times was "page refreshing" my most frequent action Smile)

Respective TedHanssen, I have a hypothesis. It was (along with usgx) a Cloverfield DVD marketing story which hasn't really any development. Sure, we came to the hidden files, which were also partly on DVD. But there weren't much more development, it was cheapily done (compared to the Blockbuster ARG Cloverfield).

As a sidenote, it was used by Gamejackers or Fanfiction writers for further development in 500rads, which party destroyed my trust to this blog.

500rads would be nice spinoff, if it wouldn't be so hysterical and pathetic. Far away from Lovecroftean subliminality of Cloverfield ARG contents.

Your hypothesis makes perfect sense...I just hope it's wrong haha. But yeah, I think we may have come to the end of the Teddy Hanssen situation.

This is what I'm thinking though. If there is an ARG, and it's from the Cloverfield universe, then it may not have to be nearly as big, or as quick to start. I know the movie is about 6 weeks away, but think about this. Anyone who's following the ARG already knows about Tagruato, Slusho!, etc. and people who haven't will look it up (as we've seen with newcomers here and on Reddit). Maybe they just need some subtle updates to those sites. They don't have to reintroduce everything if they decide to play off of that, and keep it in the same universe.

Rather than have some big new introduction, they could just update a few sites over the next few weeks, and I think people would really respond and be happy to watch the continuation of what was already introduced to us around the 2008 time period.

I mean I don't have any evidence to back that this could happen, but I feel like it doesn't need to have the same kind of start since all of those parts are already out there.
