I hope I hope! Smile

Btw., somebody at reddit asked about Japanese at Cloverfield Credits at the end. I haven't found any, but I found a phrase that frequently repeats, and has absolutely no sense in context of Cloverfield:

It's for example at 1:14:50 (T.J.Miller), but you can see it 3 or 4 times in the credits.

The quote:

Quote:
early hip-hop, and we got a mixed crowd of people at our (???)
(as our fans?)

What the heck?
Was it found previously?

AND: Vanessa Gwon => Vanessa Wong???

I assume, given the context of music and a crowd, that the last word is "jams". I see the bottom of the letter p is cut off earlier, so a cut off j would make sense.

No idea what this is, though.

I would agree with DougBThree, it looks like jams.

Do we know if this is only in the Japanese credits? I would assume not, but if it is that might be a clue pointing us to Slusho or Tag.

It definitely seems like a clue, or at least thematically relevant since it isn't an easily accessible quote (at least not by a quick google).

Very curious, but I don't think it will lead anywhere in terms of current ARG; but any new information from the old ARG could be helpful in getting us thinking on the right track.

This is what I'm thinking though. If there is an ARG, and it's from the Cloverfield universe, then it may not have to be nearly as big, or as quick to start. I know the movie is about 6 weeks away, but think about this. Anyone who's following the ARG already knows about Tagruato, Slusho!, etc. and people who haven't will look it up (as we've seen with newcomers here and on Reddit). Maybe they just need some subtle updates to those sites. They don't have to reintroduce everything if they decide to play off of that, and keep it in the same universe.

Rather than have some big new introduction, they could just update a few sites over the next few weeks, and I think people would really respond and be happy to watch the continuation of what was already introduced to us around the 2008 time period.

I mean I don't have any evidence to back that this could happen, but I feel like it doesn't need to have the same kind of start since all of those parts are already out there.

This is what I'm hoping for, as well...a few 'tweaks' here and there, and the ARG sites could be up-to-date and ready to go. Very Happy

I can confirm it's present in multiple places including T.J.'s credit on my US iTunes digital purchase. Will check my Blu Ray and DVD when I get home...

...why do I own like six copies of this movie?

Because there was a different promo version for each retailer... At least, that's why I used to own MANY copies of it. I gave away all but 1 or 2 of them after a while though, keeping only my favorite of the bunch.

In fact, that is exactly why, haha! Steelbook exclusive, TJ Miller behind the scenes bonus disc exclusive, Blu Ray which was released later I believe, and bought it digitally as I mentioned. I think maybe that's it, but there might have been another even >.<

EDIT: Yea, here we go: http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2008/04/cloverfield-dvd-buyers-guide.html

Paris, TX

Sorry if this is repeat information but I scanned through the previous 73 pages and didn't see any mention of this. I read on another forum that there is a Cloverfield Ln in McKenzie, TN which is next to Paris, TN, home to an Eiffel Tower replica. Maybe a little more research on this area is needed?

I've been lurking here; definitely an interesting coincidence.

Its a shame they went through all that trouble to show us the mysterious splash at the end of Cloverfield.. It was a perfect setup for the next chapter... and still could be if they incorporate it into this flick.. Perhaps it could tie into the poster showing the long "L" in Lane starting at the surface and ending deep in the water.. as if something is coming up from the deep..

One can hope..

My interpretation of that was as the conclusion of the original ARG. I took it to mean that the business with Tagruato and retrieving the crashed satellite are what led to the monster waking up. It's, in my mind, what tied the events of the ARG and the movies central plot together rather than the ARG just being background information inconsequential to the actual plot.

It would be really interesting if they expanded on the purpose of the satellite and why it was of interest to Tagruato. I remember the satellite being Japanese, and there was that Japanese Cloverfield manga as well.

Was the manga canon? I remember the monster being in the manga visually. A cult was sacrificing a girl to it or something. If it was canon maybe the satellite had information regarding the monster in Japan and Tagruato was desperate to get the information since they stumbled upon a monster while retrieving seabed nectar.

I am a teapot!
and some spanish

This seems to be a dead end but I thought the masses should have it anyway. While looking for any changes to the SP site today I noticed that instead of 404 a lot of non-existent directories were returning 418 (i am a teapot). Obviously this is not a common response code and I'm pretty certain they weren't doing this last week. Not relevant I'm sure, but interesting non the less.

I also noticed that drinkswamppop.com/~admin popped up. It is a contact page for a consulting and design firm out of mexico. I googled a bit and checked their facebook (www.facebook.com/Deleuzediseno/) and they seem to be legit, but my spanish is shite so... I sent them a message regarding the long term shelter supply just in case, and included a p.s. hows the weather.

Sorry for the delay.. I can also confirm that weird hip-hop text is present on both DVD and Blu Ray, although it was completely unreadable to me on the DVD version (but the shapes of the words look about the same). The Blu Ray is probably the clearest way of seeing it. I took some photos that I can upload if anyone wants, but they look pretty similar to the one above.

EDIT: I also found this text (image attached).. this lead me to a formerly Top Secret CIA document in the real world.. Weird >.<

CIA Doc (note that the text is identical including the slash-through the word SECRET): http://www.foia.cia.gov/sites/default/files/document_conversions/14/esau-42.pdf

That's really weird. What part of the movie is that in?

EDIT: I mean, what part of the credits, as I'm assuming that's where it showed up.

It actually pops up a couple times during the credits. That one in particular was at 1:24:40.
