I was looking at that picture and realised that the eiffel tower seemed like it was placed to block something. But what?

Well since I was already pretty sure it was the Hollywood Hills, there's only a couple of things we would all recognise that it could be hiding.

With the mountains at that angle, from that view the statue could be hiding Griffiths Observatory (and possibly the Hollywood sign) and definitely the big ass transmitter tower on the mountain.

I can't seem to find images of that exact view anywhere, but it could explain the blurryness because you'd have to zoom & crop a bit to get that exact shot.

This is the closest I could find, but damn if it doesn't still seem like exactly the same mountan range.

Someone with better google-fu could probably find a better image from the right angle to compare.

Also, there might be a star with laurels somewhere on site there. There's certainly this kind of star:

Edit: Warner Bros is exactly the opposite side of the mountains of the observatory which would explain why it reminded me of Stars Hollow AKA WB Backlot smalltown mainstreet. It's just the other side of that view!

Also, could the Laurel Star be a reference to the stars
that live in Laurel Canyon? It's close by too!

Laurels are more of a Roman thing, but I'll forgive 'em.

Now, I think there are movie showings at both places, also Forest Lawn on the other side of the mountain, let's see if any of these are showing Pretty in Pink!

Edit: It's showing at Chinese 6 behind Mann's, it's Hollywood Forever (not Forest Lawn) that shows movies, and the Greek only seems to do concerts BUT they do have a Pink Floyd tribute concert called "Which one's Pink"

I very much wonder though if the laurel star is a real location or statue that can be visited that they placed the little tower model on and took the picture from. It would be subtle, but once we figured it out, unmistakable. Exactly the kind of thing we're looking for.

OK looked through a bunch of pictures on Instagram taken at the Greek and THIS IS IT GUYS ITS DEFINTIELY THE OBSERVATORY TAKEN FROM THE GREEK THEATRE.

I can't think of any reason to do this other than lead us there. WHO'S IN LA AND UP FOR AN ADVENTURE!?!?!?

Hrm, this is cool but I'm also not clear on how this helps us. I've gone back to wondering if the 13th birthday question is more of a honeypot, and the 'real' clue is in the letter -- e.g., I like the morse code idea but can't make anything of it.

I'm allllllmost there, but I think I may not be exactly right - the view from FAPT is just a touch higher up and over to one side. So it might not be the Greek Theatre but it's very close to it.

I just can't think of a reason you'd choose such the worlds most famous and identifiable mountain range without a reason - although given the distributer of the picture (ParaMOUNT) it's a touch meta. The distributer of this movie and PIP. With a mountain in their logo.

Edit: it looks like you can see the observatory from the Griffiths park golf course clubhouse. I forgot that this picture was clearly taken out of a window (you can see the reflection). I'm not sure if the view is right yet, but it seems like the correct location.
