 		1. Howard was in the Navy, he wasn't a Marine.

2. Taking place in Louisiana - my only support for that would be the Spanish moss hanging from the tree in the last shot of the trailer, and the fact it looks like MEW is running through wetlands from the car.

3. I have a feeling the thing under the Eiffel Tower in the picture isn't an emblem other than it being a star. It's a disc with a star on it. It's once piece, and looks to me like a lapel or hat-pin. That suggests an insignia, but I pored over the lists and pictures of Japanese, American, and even Soviet insignia pins, and didn't find one that was truncated the way this one is (I.E. isn't spread out like a compass rose), and would be big enough to place as a support under this replica Eiffel Tower.

I don't know what it IS but I don't think it's a pin, tack or belt buckle. My original thought was it was the winding component, or a thing that would rotate in a musical snow globe. Disc with a star on top. It really could be anything at all, and that's what's maddening about it.

Hi there, family!

So since it seems we are not advancing or somebody has planned their ARG in a very... doubtful way, I guess we will have to keep on waiting and see what happens.

I was talking yesterday with my boy about Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane. He had no idea of the fact that something like ARGs exist, and he was quite shocked. Anyway, I tried to briefly explain all the background to the films, and showed him the trailer we have. Then he came up with the following theory, which I think is interesting because he is not inside the ARG as we are, and looks at this from the outside:

"I think they did not kill the monster in the first film. They tried to nuke him but they could not kill him, and the monster escaped. He has been since haunting people and destroying cities in the USA, helped by his parasites, and people had to start hiding and building bunkers. The girl in the car in trying to escape from the monster but when she has the car accident she hits her head and now she does not remember anything. That is why she does not feel comfortable in the bunker. Turns out she was hiding from a monster and she finds a worse monster, because monsters come in many forms and that Goodman is going to be the monster in this film. I think he lost her daughter a long time ago and he sees the opportunity to "recreate" his daughter in the girl in the car, and that is fucked up but it would make sense. The Japanese company is just a cover up, there is something else behind it, they are just blaming it on them. Mark my words, when Goodman reveals his real self there are going to be a lot of WTFs in the theathers. He is not what he seems to be."

So, for a person who has no idea about what is going on, I think he may have a point in some of the ideas he has... I cannot wait to watch this movie, I am getting crazy already!!!

This sounds very possible! (I haven't read the script, so no idea how the monstrousity of Howard could be confirmed and manifested). But this way of thinking sounds for me very interesting.

We haven't read the script either, but I have to admit he may be right in some of his crazy ideas, especially that there is something dark behind JG. I am not going with the "abusive father" theory I read a couple of days ago, but I think he hides something we are not going to like and will mean the twist of the story. I hope for monsters and destruction, but I have come to accept the fact that if they appear in this film, they are going to be just a decoration to the story, some wink to the fans. I believe this story is going to be more dramatic and personal, more around the main character's lives that about running from a giant monster destroying the city. I hope I am wrong, because me likey some monters!!!

Yeah, I know, he's in the Navy, not the marines, that's why I clarified. So much information swirling around I just got confused.

But yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I think the shape and scale of most badges & medals are too small, and not three dimensional enough (the point on that star would take an eye out). Something like the texas crest I found, but with an 8 pt star/compass rose seems more likely.

As I said a while back, at least it's definitely something we'll know when we see.

Also via r/arg someone mentioned that 11.22.63 had a micro arg that used instagram filters. Seems it was a much more functionally designed and consistent little puzzle than this has been so far though - although it was pretty meta, if you don't like that sorta thing. Unlocking new clips via social media that doesnt exist in 1963 :/

Which is actually great news because it means they aren't just trolling the internet stealing private citizens photos (the ice cream parlour I found connected to the guy with the sundae recipe is remarkably similar to the one in the picture, but can now confirm from additional pictures on that site is a different place). I mean it's nothing, but it's something in that it makes me feel better about all this.

And I mean, maybe now that we know a stock image site they have access to, we could reverse engineer which (if any) of the FATP images are originals for the ARG?

 		HAHAHAHA I feel like they specifically wrote in the locations to shut everyone up about that, since people have been going INSANE about it.

FYI - The website for the bugout bag is a REAL website {as are all he other survivalist links there}. I would recommend we don't invade their forums {although I'm sure redditors will}.

 		Random thoughts:

The prepper stuff just mostly seems like flavor/background -- those links all lead to real external sites. We have more misspellings and bad grammar, but so far that just seems to be in-character for Howard.

Way to scare the bejeezus out of your daughter, dude. "If you see a nuclear flash, just calmly find an unpopulated area." Sure thing, pops.

I still can't tell if we're supposed to be able to guess Megan's 13th bday gift. Judging from this, I'm guessing no. I'm betting that Howard is going to get increasingly desperate to contact Megan as time passes with no word from her.

I agree with this. The original Cloverfield arg was mostly a drip feed of information and sites, not a 'game' as such. This will probably be the same thing.
