Lojack, what you want to do is look through this topic, find the Gamertags we've all posted (lots in the first 4/6 pages) and write them down. Now, it's painstaking, but when you log on you can go and invite all those names to be your Friend. When they accept, they become part of your Friend list, you can tell when they're on and what they're doing, and you can invite them to play with you.

As for getting in the clan, I think you have to be invited.

I need to sing Zanzibar more...

I like the fact that most beekeepers have used the wasp icon for their logo... easy to tell who's a beekeeper and not Smile

if you want to play beekeepers, change your logo! Wink

Yeah, that was the first thing I did when I was setting up my Halo 2 profile Smile.

Call me a freak, but I don't use inverted controls for walking/aiming, but I'd love inverted controls when piloting a Banshee! As soon as I get on a Banshee, I'm lost without the inverted controls.

Agreed. In the single-player campaign, I struggled mightily with the controls. Too many flight-sims in my past, I guess. Smile

One suggestion to all. Shouldn't we disable the radar? I'm so used to play without them that I don't even look anymore. It's a whole other game without radars ... much cooler!

Meh. I like the radars, mainly because I don't have surround sound. (Yet.) I can tell left from right by stereo, but forward and behind don't come in that way. I'd like to have some chance to know that there's someone sneeking up behind me!

Besides, that's where the shield meter is now so it should become second-nature to check it. That's a nice rearrangement of the HUD; much better world awareness!

-- Steve notes that the radar does give a slight unrealistic awareness for tank drivers... the engine noise (realisitically) drowns out most of local ambient noise, but the radar can still show someone behind you. Heave to, yon Wraithe and prepare to be boarded! Arr!

*sigh*

Last night was a slaughterfest. I think I'm going to try some matches with people that are more at my own level for awhile. I love you guys, but multiple 0 kill games in a row just get very frustrating. I'll be around though. Smile

From bungie:

Over the past few days, a number of players have been experiencing a few unexpected issues with Halo 2. The Bungie test team has been working to resolve and/or minimize these issues where possible. Here are the 3 most popular problems people are encountering along with the current status:

Halo 2 widescreen / 480p - HUD is clipped on either side of the screen
The test team is working on a potential fix for this problem and we hope to have more informaiton very soon. You can help us out by sharing your specs for your television in the post pinned in this forum.

Unusually long wait times while attemping to join a matchmade game
This is also is being worked on and a potential fix is going through additional testing.

"Dirty Disc" / "Failed to Load Map" errors
The core of this problem lies with bad or faulty DVD drives. In most cases, if you reset your box, there's a chance the map will load properly next time. While we can't create a fix that will alleviate what is ultimately a hardware related problem, we can hopefully make it so you won't have to reboot upon a map failure before you play another game. This issue is being investigated.

We wanted everyone to know that these issues have been heard and identified and we are working to find the best possible solutions as quickly as possible. As soon as we have additional information, I'll update this post.

We are also still evaluating our existing playlists and gametypes within each playlists based on activity so far and all the feedback we've been receiving. We will have some initial adjustments soon.

thanks

You should try playing with me....I'm pretty awful Smile. And I was wondering about those waits...I've sat waiting so long to join a not-so-Quickmatch that I just gave up....At least they're working on it.

I just don't get it. One on one I'm good (I just massacred Dane in a Ninjanaught game last night, and he was the Ninja), but once there are more people in the room, I panic or something. 9% accuracy. That's just embarrassing.

Oddly enough, I'm ranked a Level 6 (and angelo, you're a 2!!! WTF?). That must be from my King of the Hill, Oddball, and CTF play. I tend to win the strategy games, but when it comes down to Slayer matches, pure slaughter. That feels so very girly.

OMG -- me too.

I could so have written that post.

(Except of course that I'm not even ON XBL yet, so I'm not ranked anything. Sad )

No worries Kirsten. I am constantly being walked up to by players, whose hands are outstretched. I think that they are offering me help, then I realize that they have my ass in their hands and they are handing it to me(I have an interesting sense of humor, sorry if it doesn't make sense).

I still haven't had a chance to play with any unfiction folks but I have sent out some friends requests. Hopefully I'll see some of you soon Smile

I'm still trying to figure out the ranking system myself. Anybody have any insights on what exactly bumps it up or down? I seem to vary wildly, anywhere from a 2 to a 5.

I too am better at the strategy based modes like CTF (but i'm still getting used to the bomb one, that's much harder). I seem to be doing better than expected in matchmade slayer games though, based on expectations from my skill level in halo 1 multiplayer anyway.
