There's nothing better to do right now, and while I am unsure about the rest of the faces that one IS absolutely Evangeline Lilly's, so I'm not sure why it's so abhorrent to check the rest of them out too. I doubt they're anything more than Easter Eggs, but it's fun to take a look.

Also: people can be interested in things you're not interested in and it doesn't hurt you, or the arg.

Why is it that everytime there's a lull you all start nit picking each other.

We're NOT locked in a bunker together. You all can leave any time you want.

As far as I can tell, Dmax was the only person nitpicking. You are taking personally my pointing out an example of what knowing who the team is can do to the player base. I didn't say anything at all that could possibly lead to the leap you took in deciding that i find it abhorrent. It was a constructive comment, not a nit pick.

Abhorrent was sarcastic/hyperbole I know that can be hard to tell in text.

Also if you don't want someone to take something personally, you probably shouldn't address your criticisms *directly* to them. Yeah?

Again, you made the assumption it was criticism. It was merely a statement, and observation, a constructive comment. Adding to the conversation as to why I prefer an iron curtain, which we don't often get these days. I could pull many more examples of how knowing the team is Bad Robot we as a community have grasped at any possible straws. Sometimes those have panned out, other times they haven't. Grasping at straws isn't always inherently a negative aspect of something. I gave neither a positive nor a negative opinion of your efforts, simply stated that the efforts exist.

[EDIT] to those who previously missed it, you'll get to know me over time. I'm very wordy, I over explain things to try to be as clear as possible. I assure you, despite the "angry midget" title, I am very rarely actually angry. Lack of inflection can make things tough, and the fact that off the forums I have what some call "a potty mouth" lol but yeah this ^ so not me being upset at all.

Whoa, calm down you guys! Brownie

Let's all be friends, gather around the campfire/barrel full of unknown substances in the bunker and drink some swamp pop together. Very Happy

Fwiw, I was willing to give it a shot, but after the initial inquiry, never thought that the misspellings would go anywhere. They just seemed like a way of fleshing out the character. A paranoid guy about to seclude himself in a bunker isn't in the most right of minds, I think we can all agree (?).

Like Dante, I'd love to be proven wrong, though!

It is really sad that everything so far has ended in a dead end. I too hope that there is some big payout awaiting us, perhaps the day before release. If not, I'll be disappointed, but still glad that I was along for the wild, strange ride. It has been really nostalgic being back here at UnF, and if nothing else, I think I'll stick around and play more games. No more disappearing for 9 years for me! Smile

My one brownies-worth...

Agreed that we seem to have hit a lull...but, that might be because the PMs didn't plan on/for having people deliberately hack into the ARG, trying to insert false info (for trollollollish reasons, mind you, not to aid in unlocking anything pertinent). That alone might have 'caused the pause', so to speak... Confused

I'm personally glad to have unForum, and like hinoai, don't plan on disappearing anytime soon.

Now, back to those brownies... Brownie

I rather prefer knowing the pedigree of any given online experience, if only to know where to set my expectations. I bailed out early on the original Cloverfield "experience", as it seemed to have as its main purpose to "leak" stills from the movie. I get the same vibe now. Although there may be backstory, and there might be a hint of a promise of post-movie extension of the story, I just want to go into the theater and watch the story unfold the way the director put it together for me. (But I truly enjoyed the Swamp Pop side game.) Even with the name of Bad Robot attached to both films, I don't really know whether we are dealing with the same creative team as the last one.

Speaking as someone in the borderline-elderly demographic, I am probably more offended than most people on the Internet by the gesture your avatar makes at me with every post. You might not be angry, and you might even be saying the friendliest things, but that image adds a certain inflection. I've learned to slide my browser window to hide the avatars, but then I sometimes miss who is saying what in the conversation. These days, I am held responsible for my own reactions, and thus cannot accuse you of presenting a certain attitude, and I cannot ask you to change the avatar. You keep doing you, Pixie. It's what makes Unfiction the open and welcoming place it is, for all segments of the population.

Ahahaa!!! I am pretty young (30s), but I have had the same thoughts about Pixie's avatar. It is definitely not my cup of tea, but I accept that it's hers. Love you, Pixie! I'm more the type to have unicorns and rainbows in my avatar. In fact, hmmm....

I did a quick search and on forums using phpBB3 there is an option in the user preferences to turn off both avatars and signatures (or just one of those). This one runs on phpBB2. Not sure how hard it would be to upgrade to v3 but it sounds like a PITA to me after reading https://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/INSTALL.html#convert

This conversation reminded me of this from the Eiffel Tower thread:
