That Craigslist posting locates to this place on the map: Downtown Chicago again (South Loop).
EDIT: maybe Megan's mom lives in those condos?

i enjoy seeing craigslist used to flesh out a story, makes it feel real. I'm less thrilled with invading a real neighborhood. I'd rather find more online clues, personally, but i understand the urge to go to a real-world location. Be careful, and be courteous. (And i'll poke the image for hidden meaning.)

knife Sent email.
One knife out of it's slot, ok, I see now it's just an illusion.
Ties to the poster carved "Megan 'heart'" on the rural mailbox.
and the typo "arey ou" need to be added to thread.

I don't see any of the 12 knives out of their slots.

Yep, made me nostalgic for 'bseeingu'
I have to admit that I did NOT see this storyline taking a turn toward antique heirlooms. I'm sure they've gotten 100s of emails by now. Wonder what happens then?

Hi all - I usually just lurk but I noticed there happens to be a restaurant called Tapas Valencia down the street from the posting. I'm sure it's nothing and definitely don't think we should all bombard the restaurant but thought I would at least share. BTW - Thanks to everyone who takes the time to work through all these crazy clues!!

Wow, this is awesome!!!!
So, is anyone here in Chicago and can go check the location? I'm sure that it was added on purpose. I bet they'll find a mailbox labeled "Stambler."

Did the listing change, because I don't see a location or a map listed with the ad?
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. Although there is specifically no map added to the listing, you can still see the location, if you "show results on map".

Could someone briefly explain to me how you get an address from that listing? I only see a blind email. I've seen location maps on craigslist job postings in the past, but nothing pops up on my screen in this listing. thanks.
(multi-posted! glad i'm not going crazy alone)

Okay so I had to go back to recreate how I found the map (I've used the map function in Craigslist before, which is how i knew it existed):
From the listing, click up top on the "antiques - by owner " category. Takes you to: http://chicago.craigslist.org/search/sox/atq
From that page, you have several display options: List/Thumb/Gallery/Map
Click on Map and zoom in.
Alternatively, from the display options, you can narrow down first by using the search box to look for 'silverware' and then zooming, which is how I think I found it the first time.
Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

danteIL I wasn't able to pull up a location when I checked Craigslist. How accurate do you think this address is? Those are private residences, but I can see at least one business listing there in my white pages (I live in Chicagoland).
Also, there's a UPS store in Dearborn Station right across the street, not to mention Dearborn Park.

National Silver Co Silverware w/Case - $500
I have an antique set of sterling silverware to sell. They're all in excellent condition. I don't know the exact age, but it's a service for 6, with a total of 60 pieces. It comes in a nice wood box with red velvet lining and was made by the National Silver Company from Sheffield, England.
$500 obo
I don't know that much about antique silverware, but a quick search tells me there is NO "National Silver Company from Sheffield, England." There is a National Silver Company of New York, NY and they did sell English/British silverware in the US. There's also a type of silver called "Sheffield Plate" which is basically copper sandwiched between 2 plates of silver - cheaper than sterling silver and was commonly used before electroplating was available (1840).
Sterling silver was also manufactured in Sheffield and would have had a crown mark in addition to the Lion Passant hallmark (first 2 hallmarks in the image below).
EDIT: Whoops, forgot the picture

I'm not sure how Craigslist does it's mapping, but I suspect it's by IP address of the computer used to create the listing. It has occurred to me that this might just be a PM location, and not IG. (somebody had to leave the phone, right?) There doesn't seem to be anything obvious nearby (also, Tapas Valencia is a bit far away to be considered close; I live in Chicago, too btw.)
