Someone alerted me from Discord when the update happend and a few of us automatically recognized the SSTV sound, it was in ROBOT72 mode, reddit user Kinger was the one to first upload the image.When I hear SSTV signal I come'a runnin' here is the source image as well which was found by reddit user DinoDracula - https://www.tineye.com/search/fa2f3d45b6c952852cb0ac50fea094cf82f647cb/

Yeah but I mean the process, how was the encrypted image found? That's what I still don't understand. Where can I see that user's findings?

The article at fishki.net is about Russian meteorologic satellite "Electro-L" making satellite photos with resolution 1 km/px.

The photo of interests was send by research facility to the blog writer (coincidentally named Nikolai)

SSTV audio is very identifiable if you are familiar with it, we noticed it was an SSTV signal and then Kinger, I and a few others were putting it through some free SSTV programs. Kinger was the first to try it in ROBOT72 mode on a program called RXSSTV and then he posted the image, I was able to duplicate the process in a similar program called MMSSTV, hope that answers all your questions.

Ah, there you go, thank you very much for the explanation. I had to go to Reddit and find the post to understand (the user wasn't Kinger by the way, it was kinger9119... The difference matters), and I was able to replicate it using the program you posted, not the one used for the proof since it doesn't load in my computer for some reason. Here's my results:



This is actually very interesting, the whole deal with stenography. I was asking mostly because I wanted to learn something new, and there it is Smile

Which progam have you used? Interface of RX-SSTV http://users.belgacom.net/hamradio/rxsstv.htm looks quite different.

I was looking for a free Mac version decoder about three weeks ago. I haven't found one yet, but I haven't been looking too hard since the ARG kicked in.
