Question: What do you think? So I've been doing some thinking(which at times is dangerous for me ) but I was wondering what you guys thought.
Question: 1.) When you find a new slenderseries/mythos type channel what are 3 things you look for first in a video(s)??
2.) In a series what do you find to be the most important? (Scariness factor, creepiness, humor, characters, plot, camera style, editing style....etc.)?
3.) This may tie in with question 2, but would you like to see a mixture of those listed above? Because yes, I know slender/monster series are suppose to be scary but even scary movies contain some humor----or just the fact that any of these series aren't immediately labeled "scary" but just entertainment in general.
4.)What do you want to see that no other series have done yet??? I am VERY curious about this question because for one...I'm looking on how I may end my own series one day, but also because I know many of you may have really cool ideas. Do you want to see slender die or do you want him to live? --- This is an example.
5.) The End. Do you like good endings or bad endings or endings that leave you curious or perhaps with a new beginning???
REMEMBER : I want to hear from YOU. So yes I know this depends on what channel it is and all that jazz, but I wanna hear what YOU think. Don't speak for the ppl, reply what your thoughts are!
edit in : I quickly wanted to add that this is not about my series but series in general---doesn't even have to be a slenderman series. Also know that if you answer four and I like the idea for down the road in my series then I will ask permission and give you 100% credit if I decide to use it---I'm just saying this because I don't want anyone to get mad thinking I'm fishing for ideas because I'm lazy, I'm just generally curious about these questions. Thank you!

My personal choice is this
I like at least some confusion
Inventive plot twists and Mind fuckery.
Decent pacing as well.
Immersion is another biggie that I look for in a series/ARG.
Old and New together also gets some nice results
i.e a series with a MH-esque start which revolves around a lovecraftian entity made of eyes and tenticles and builds into something different
I find that pretty impressive.
Editing style means fuck all to me as well as Acting as long as it isn't too terrible or overdramatic.

I feel like i should add since this DOES make you a better YouTuber in general, and it will likely let you score more views.
RECORD ALL YOUR SHIT BEFORE YOU START TO RELEASE VIDEOS
Maybe record 2 or 3 videos in advance, but waiting a lot of days between uploads will kill you as a Youtuber, there is a reason so many series get so little amount of views, because whoever got hooked on your series lose interest after a week, not because they don't like it, because our brains need a constant refresher. It doesn't even have to be videos, you can use Twitter aswell.

NewMerchant- Wow, I'm surprised to hear about not caring on the editing and acting. Interesting. When you say immersion does that mean trying to decode something or to get really into the plot and stuff...maybe you can explain better?
Ristar- I would say that does depend on the person who's making the series. I personally don't do that, but I don't want to be a good youtuber, I simply want to tell my story. I personally don't want to rush to film everything...sometimes I get ideas with walking through the parking deck or even looking up at the sky on a rainy day. But I do agree with that if you are trying to make it as a youtuber and trying to get views. I also personally agree on quality vs quantity (now I do anyhow) and that means time and commitment.

It's not just a verse thing though, reverse engineering is proven to improve writing in stories. J.K. Rowling, Vince Gilligan, George RR Martin and our own Adam Rosner, Hybrids and in some cases the MH crew use it. Making a series should never be about views, but if you want to tell your story well always have the story written at least 4-5 videos ahead of the one you're currently working on. This allows you to do 2 things: place hints and forshadowing for viewers to spot later on and it gives you the chance to tweak the story before you write yourself into a corner as over half the verse have done. If you write it as you go it really starts to show in your work. Every film I've made and even my own series I've written from the end back to the start.
If you care enough about your story you may as well do it good.

Getting deep into the plot and finding out more i.e finding hidden details and shit from videos dating from the beginning.
I find that very immersive.

Cyan507- Vince Gilligan is my man, haha! But not just the writing but mostly where the camera goes, he is definitely an inspiration. But yeah I took your advice a bit confused at first and then slowly molded the ending to my series so I guess there is something to this reverse engineering
I've asked some of my friends on their opinion of killing off slenderman and all of them are saying to kill him. The problem is that I brought up The Totem's channel, PhantomVoices, and if I did kill slender then I don't think it would be very fair ...or more so make no sense that he's in this other channel.
The Totem...maybe you have an idea??

Hm... Well, since we seem to share some form of continuity... Let's discuss this in PMs, I have a great idea.

The acting isn't super important but it gives a series glorious moments. For example, acting at a moment of suspense will keep your audience on edge. You want the audience to ask if this is real, in the back of their head.
Editing is very important. I did my first project on Movie maker with hacked expansions and 250+ effects and I barely managed to get by.
Download
"Invest" in some "expensive" software.
The plot is important, because this genre is so saturated that all the new projects have literally never seen most of those before them, thus their ideas tend to be the same old same old "slenderman shows up and then we run away". Or things that don't make sense canonically and ruin immersion.
Unhappy endings are notoriously annoying but realistic, and often happen abruptly in found footage movies. The slenderverse has a great opportunity to change that. I have yet to see a slenderverse series end on a good tone, and I still wait for the day.
Humor is always good to remind us these people are real people. An adult knows when humor is appropriate and when it is not. So I usually expect humor at times where it's golden, not in the middle of a scary video to kill suspense.
Also, you little kids, stop cursing in all your videos. Do it. Stop cursing. That goes for you too, you old dudes. Stahp cursing.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Stan Frederick BTS and ICANSEETHEGIANT both end on pretty good tones.
