The number "e"

Extensive information on "e", the mathematical constant.

I just came across a lot of info on this while looking for a different reason, Phillip LeMarchand's history is very interesting stuff....albeit spooky.

We're just playing around in chat and from the image on indexB.html you can get numbers for each picture.

So far we reckon:

28 = 28 Days Later (the film) from Nik_Doof, we're definitely not sure on this though.
1 = Mention of One
7 = Number of Cubes
50 = £50 note as confirmed by Nik_Doof

If you use these letters as words from the initial Sente letter on the main page (excluding the quote) you get:

YOUR CYNICISM SAID SOMETHING

I suspect this is likely nothing and we are almost certainly just bored ;)

I read this a different way (but in a similar style). Ignoring the first "28 Days Later" image as a number I took:
1 = The one at the bottom of the letter
10 = The number of cubes (it's an optical illusion of sorts, and if you look at it the other way (as shown here) you get 10 cubes)
50 = 50 pound note as above

If you include the title and the quote (and the date as two seperate words) you get: THE CLOSE FRIENDSHIP

Probably more wheel spinning, but I felt like putting it in there until it actually launches.

Also, hello to everyone. This is my first ARG experience, but I did manage to find everything on the site myself. What can I say, I'm a geek. :)

Hello everybody. Like many others here, this is my first ARG, but I've been spending quite a bunch of time on this one so far.

1st: I can't quite put my finger on it, but I don't think it's the location of the first picture in indexb.html that's important, but rather the subject of the photo itself. Can anyone tell if it's a sunrise or a sunset? I want to think that the image itself is the clue, rather than some piece of information that it's supposed to lead us to.

2nd: We all know the logs are grouped according to 10-digit groupings of e. The filename of the false error 409 message is the first 10 digits. The names of the .cache files are (when rearranged) the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, and 16th 10-digit groupings. Only when the .cache messages are arranged in this order do they make sense as a narrative.

This leads me to believe that either we're missing the 3rd, 7th, and 15th messages somewhere, or they are supposed to be missing (anyone mathy able to work on the 3,7,15 correlation?). I believe that without these messages, we will not be able to fully and completely start the hunt for the cube.

3rd: Within the .cache messages, there may be parts of other messages that we're missing. The line in 9457138217.cache (the reply from Sarah to Henrik regarding the access data) that says "How carefully did you check the logs?" seems to indicate that the logs have the key to some part of a puzzle that we've either not figured out, or haven't seen yet. Has anyone seen anything pertinent in the message that hasn't been apparent to the rest of us yet?

4th: Regarding the logs, who's s. ling? I haven't seen any reference elsewhere to S. Ling, and it would seem that this person frightens Lyssa when Lyssa arrives to check in. The tamperer?

I'm (of course) still churning this one through. If anyone has anything that they'd be willing to share, drop a line.

JB[/i]

Hey, jwblase! Well, I did a follow-up on your idea about missing the 3rd, 7th, and 15th message and fond this in 6303535475.cache (an email from Henrik Tanner to Sarah Convington): "Sarah, I just looked over the logs for so far this month, and I've found three
distinct instances where the equipment wasn't shut down properly."

Those three instances could be behind the three missing messages, if we keep going along this line of thought.

Also, as far as we know, S. Ling is just Lyssa's sister and the impression I got from their conversation was that Lyssa was just deep in though tabout "them" and was startled by S. Ling.

This is my first ARG as well, so happy hunting from one new guy to another!

I agree with you guys about the missing messages, 3rd, 7th and 15th. If they are not the instances Tanner is refering to I believe they would shed more light on what is going on. I'm also wondering about the skyline photo on the index page. It looks like its gotta be the UK. I've done some searching but searching for a simlar "image" is next to impossible. Has anyone been contacted by Sente yet? This is my first ARG since the ill-fated Majestic and it is much more fun than I remember.

yup the missing entries of e were suspected as the next lot of messages or hidden messages, iirc the most recent message didnt fill this gap.

Also for a good overview of the relationships, check here

So what are the missing e numbers? Perhaps one can link directly to these files by name if they are not in the directory listing?

if you arrange the e digits in the order they appear in the whole e number then the missing ones seem to be subject separaters

ie

1 message about the zeller bio
missing file
3 messages about shoes
missing file
4 messages from henrik tanners inbox and sent box
missing file
2 messages of gatehouse 24 logs

etc

in other words i doubt the missing numbers are files at all
