"The squirrel is in the basket."

Does this mean anything to you? "The squirrel is in the basket." Colbert slipped that sentence in while he was introducing Abrams. During the interview, the wall screen behind them flashed the image of a squirrel, barely visible for an instant when they switched camera angles; later, an image of a wicker basket flashed on that screen and caught Abrams by surprise. He didn't mention it specifically, but he acted like he was confused. I wasn't sure whether he was genuinely distracted by it or was just playing along.

Anyway... clue? or hoax? and by Abrams or by Colbert?

I saw this too. Apparently Colbert used this same phrase a couple of years ago when interviewing CIA operative Robert Baer. I think it's just Colbert's pet 'secret agent' phrase.

Hey guys! I got the book the day it came out, I am sad to say it took me this long to open it and start. However I just finished the main chunk of the story up to the Interlude (I am going to point out some spoilers)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The last sentence of the main story depicts the main character "S" getting his mouth sewn shut. Just like the second book trailer!
I have yet to discover the use of the code wheel in the back, does anyone know? Also my personal view on the book so far. One of my favorite stories I have ever read, every aspect and detail just amplifies the greatness of it! (It felt almost like one huge episode of Lost and had aspects of Fringe, defiantly a J J project.)

I have yet to finish the book, so I've tried to avoid some of the spoilers from the blogs out there. I have however been following Eric and Jen's twitter accounts. Over the last couple of days, they've been discussing two paragraphs on pages 195 & 196...I've posted the tweets in order.

Jen wrote:
The paragraph FXC complains about in Fn5 - followed by the one she probably inserted - need a serious look (195-196).

Let's compare manuscripts again tonight.

After nothing on those Ps last night, something hit me today when thinking about how you squeezed my hand when I left.
What if we "interlace" the two Ps the way Corbeau interlaces fingers with "S"? The Ps are exactly the same length if you...set aside "and yet it seems the most confounding of mysteries." Kill punctuation, too, to match length.

Jen wrote:
So, have FXC and VMS "hold hands" textually, in love, the most confounding of mysteries. And then see what "falls." On it!

So if you take both paragraphs eliminate all punctuation and leave single spaces you end up with the same number of characters with spaces. Putting the paragraph that starts with "Corbeau" above the paragraph that starts with "Strange" and taking the letters that "fall" in the spaces I came up with the following cipher text.

Code:
TATRFGHIAIAEOEWGETEYTTIAOLAHENEWLTATVEGTMLTLIRF

Putting paragraph "Strange" above paragraph "Corbeau" I came up with this cipher text.

Code:
NSOTETDYBNAFHEOEIAEDIRIYOSUNROIWPHPOHATEOICBSIETHP

I'm not sure if this what Eric was talking about.

Hi all,

It's been a while for me, but I just got the book yesterday and am working my way through a basic read though. Am following the tweets and just checking in here so far.

Just wanted to check in!

Also peeping up and say hello. Just joined the forum because I saw the book, bought it, looked up info and found myself roundabouted to here. So great to be aboard this sailing ship.

Book contents

Hi all I'm new but just got this book and really enjoying it,

This is a big ask but would somebody mind listing all of the contents included within the book please and what page each file is attached to?

I was bought S. for Christmas but it arrived with the seal broken and I am worried I have missing contents. I contacted the store but they were useless, they didn't even read my email properly and they have no phone number.
I've looked online but can't find anywhere that lists all of the documents inside the book.

If somebody wouldn't mind doing this for me I'd really appreciate it, I keep thinking 'what if there's meant to be something in this page', I don't know how I'll ever go back to regular books! Smile
It isn't just wishful thinking either, once or twice the characters have been talking about a manuscript or document for example and usually when that happens, it's there for us to read too.

Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Bfc

How did I not find this?! Thanks a bunch. Brilliant website too.

Doesn't look like I've missed any inserts yet, thanks again I really appreciate it.

You may also be glad to know we got a refund for the book and I can keep it Smile shame about the seal though.

Something embedded in Sommersby Confession audio

The audio is in dropbox here:

Another seeker of S. figured out there is something going on at 22 khz, but I don't have the skills myself to figure it out. This may be just a fan driven thing, but thought I would at least drop it here to give other people a chance if they are so inclined.
