Email Phyllis: Douglas Does Downer & more strange happen

Dear Sunny,
It's happening to Douglas now! ha. ha. While I passed the night in a drug-
induced coma, he fought the Battle of the Hall Light. As he told me this
morning, he went through a couple of rounds of on, off, on again before taking action. First, he used duct tape to hold the light switch in the off position. As soon as he returned to bed, the light came on again. After he discovered that the switch was still taped down, he went down to the utility room and shut off the power to the hall at the circuit box. Padding upstairs with flashlight in hand, he entered the darkness of the hall and ran into a "wall of cold," as he described it. Like me in the cold shop, he was overcome with irrational fear and dread. Fighting through it, he got to our bedroom and tried to wake me. (I don't think I like sleeping pills. I mean, what if the house were on fire?) I could not be roused even by his yelling at me. Well, that set off crashes downstairs but, Douglas would not go back through the frigid fear to investigate. He spent the rest of the night perched on the edge of the bed with the flash light in one hand and his handgun in the other. I had to give him one of my tranquilizers this morning after he discovered that his Rolex and Mont Blanc were missing from his bedside table. While he was telling his tale, I could not help laughing, a bit hysterically I admit, and he had to shake me hard to make me stop.
The crashes downstairs were my vintage book collection jumping off their
shelves. The Mont Blanc was stabbed into the heart of a first edition and the Rolex was strangling the neck of a Victorian bust. All day, things have gone missing and popped up in unlikely places, thumps have set my heart aflutter and I keep running into cold spots. But, at least I am not alone in all this strangeness. Douglas is no longer doubting my sanity and, from what I hear, similar disruptions are occurring elsewhere in town.

Oh, my keys: Of course, I relaxed my grip during the night and woke up with the outline of the P on my key chain impressed into my cheek from having slept upon it. If this were happening to someone else, I'm sure I would find it genuinely amusing. But, having your house invaded by this kind of mischief is not at all funny. Douglas is grim and ashen-faced and that frightens me most of all. He is under a tremendous strain at work and needs his wits about him. I think we'd take a vacation until all this oddity is resolved but, with the on-going investigation, I'm afraid it would not look right for us to leave town right now.

Your friend,
Phyllis

Dear Phyllis

Oh my I must process all of this..I have to go to Texas to see my mother
again..but on the road I will think about your letter and get back to you
later on this evening. It sounds like a spirit it trying to contact you. Could it be Sarah? I will get back to you later. Keep up that fighting spirit Phyllis. I believe you! You are not going crazy!!!!!
keep it quiet from your husband for now. He might want you in Klepsydra if you tell him. Do you have any connections there? Or does he? I understand that
Sarah use to be a patient there.
Well i will contact you soon.
Much love
Grace and Peace
Sunny

Well that was amusing. Poor Phyllis awakes with a P imprinted on her face from her KEYchain. And ghosts galore. Books and yet another mention of a statue...mmmmmmm

The idea of a "spirit" trying to communicate with Phyllis seems reasonable. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to ask Phyllis to video tape the lights going on or off (communication via Morse code?), or to take pictures of the room once everything "goes cold" (possibly to catch the specter on film). I'd say at the bare minimum we need a running record of what happens each night.

Thoughts?

Sunny,

With your permission, and using your name by way of introduction, I may try writing to Phyllis as a psychic investigator. I'll try and get her to open up more about her belief system and any strange objects she might have recently aquired.

Let me know if you'd have any objections to my attempting this tactic.

Some spec around the recent events...

There is still an outstanding question regarding "what" drove Sarah Wyatt insane. I believed it could be one of the disks that Wes had previously found and sold. Since Phyllis lives in the same house that Sarah used to occupy, I wonder if one of the disks isn't burried under the floorboards. Phyllis mentioned none of the "nonsense" happend until she starting thinking of Wes and his disk. Could the disks be "activated" by thought?

Might be nothing, but then again...
