Best ways to promote an ARG?

Me and some friends are creating an ARG. It is mainly YouTube-based, but will expand to other sites like forums and the like. The problem is, viewers aren't just going to find the channel on a random stroll through the internet. Now, some ideas I have thought of are maybe placing some cryptic in-game message in comment sections of other ARGs to decode that leads to an entrypoint within the ARG as well as hanging up in-game flyers around my city that have vertical tear-offs with an entrypoint on it (i.e. the YouTube channel or a related link). I probably will do these, but are there any other ways to make the game popular?

You know, I understand it if you don't like Hunter--I know he hasn't made the best name for himself here--but the way the posts line up, it makes me wonder if you bumped your thread just so it would be above his. Given that, well, bumping a post so soon after it's made is unorthodox.

Now, again, not liking him is understandable, but if you did what I think you did, that's kind of a dick move--you may be more popular in that you don't have a bad reputation, but you're not more important.

I promised myself I'd stay out of things involving him, but that's just too blatant. I don't care what he's done before and/or what he may yet do, a dick move is still a dick move.

Uh, I'm new here, I don't even know who Hunter is.

Make something first, like a podcast or a blog/vlog. Then, once that gets followers, make it an ARG, and boom, you're popular.

Or at least, that's how I'd get followers.
