Not sure if it helps, but Jan Termin is a nine letter word - it might be translatable into ascii, and then back into a three-letter word.

...yeah, that's a bit far-fetched. What happens in January that deals with a skull (and, perhaps, hair-raising?)

About the 160.jpg

it's already been noted that there are images with 0 added to the name, as such I think it is meant to be 16, referring to pollux being the 16th brightest star in the sky.
It's part of the Gemini constellation... dunno what that looks like...

I doubt thats much help, just an fyi ^_^

BTW......added "strangelove" to the list of words that take you to nocigar.htm

--------------------------------------

And did anyone notice this reference to the qwerty keyboard on the main page? I did fool around a bit, but didn't get anywhere with the qwerty code:

center>
qwertyuiop
</center

--------------------------------------

And I don't recall seeing this before but the "i" in David I. Bickenstaff 2004 at the bottom of the Login Successful page now links directly to castor.htm

--------------------------------------

And just for ref. I think this:

"red snapper, very tasty"

is a line from 'Weird Al' Yankovic's movie UHF:

*******************************

[On the game show, "Wheel of Fish", Phyllis Weaver has just spun the wheel and landed on a red snapper]

Kuni : Ahhh, a red snapper. Mmmmm, very tasty. Okay, Weaver, listen carefully. You can hold on to your red snapper...

[Hiro-San emerges, carrying a table with a box]

Kuni : ...or you can go for what's in the box that Hiro-San is bringing down the aisle right now! What's it gonna be?

[Phyllis Weaver decides between the Red Snapper and the box. The audience points to the box]
Phyllis Weaver : I'll take the box. The box!

[the audience applauded]

Kuni : You took the box? Let's see what's in the box!

[Hiro-san opened the box, and the audience gasps in silence]

Kuni : Nothing! Absolutely nothing! STUPID! You're so STU-PIIIIIIIIIIID!

*******************************

So there is ref. to "a box" above and this line:

"What's your pleasure, sir?"

Is a quote from Hellraiser (which goes along with the "hair-raising!" quote:

Hellraiser (1987)
Hellraiser is the story of Frank Cotton, who in his boredom of Earthly pleasures seeks to find some other experience beyond his current understanding. This leads him to the Lament Configuration, a puzzle box that opens the door to a whole new world in which there is no border between pleasure and pain. Unfortunately for him, the experiences he receives weren't exactly what he was going for (you mean people don't like being pulled apart by hooks and chains?) and he wants to escape from this new world and reclaim his old life. The only way he can break back into our world is by consuming large amounts of blood, and so he recruits his brother's wife whom he had an affair with and has moved into the house where he solved the box. The only one who knows about what's going on and can stop it is Kirsty Cotton, Frank's niece.

Just for .....well....nothing really, here's the puzzlebox from Hellraiser

The only connection I can find between UHF and Hellraiser is that the First Asst Director for both was John R. Woodward.

Rolling Eyes

/me=stumped

Unlessof course "Thank you. Have a nice day Smile " from the "smile" page is a way of saying it's done.....but I don't think so.

Okay, well although I know we've left some paths unfinished as far as solves, entering "rebirth" in the main text box now nets you:

Not sure how much should be spoilered, so I'll put it all in.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://daemon.chaoseed.com/element0.htm

Instead of the smiley.htm/"jan termin" page.

It has a:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clicky green Chinese symbol for EARTH that takes you to:

Which is titled:

SC:

Which is referrring to the witch pic at the bottom.

Well we now know:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Who Jill is.....and the article is about her disappearance from Idunn, CT, an "Intentional Community"

It seems people just ain't talkin.....but she "was apparently known to people all over the world through her activities in cyberspace. Friends of Jill mounted an online campaign to show their support. "

From a linky provided by the article:

Intentional Community is an inclusive term for ecovillages, cohousing, residential land trusts, communes, student co-ops, urban housing cooperatives and other related projects and dreams...

From the article:

Idunn was founded several decades ago by a religious sect called the Way of the Millennium. They claim to possess a sacred Chinese text entitled Essential Arts of the Millennium, bestowed by their fonder, Zhang Bao, the "Master of Earth".

Idunn's beliefs are still mostly unknown to the general public. Vague reports say that the Idunians seek to discover the secrets of earthly immortality.

There's also:

A string of numbers:

Still don't get these numbers, but the weird thing is that when you convert what you can:

JEV? ??U O?T WU???R9 SJ? NKM?S OUSKG, ???'T H?RI?T TJ? X?R?

Check out the fact that by converting 040 to a space, it breaks the sentence up nicely. And look at the apostrophe.....a "T" comes right afterwards.

I can't make sense of the rest though.....and if it's a cryptogram the space does not equal space and apostrophe does not equal apostrophe .....does it?

BTW:

The image link is not working, so can't tell you what it is...other than it's title: earth0.png

It's alt is "hohnyonfytbitloduntotsvdssmroi" (which isn't ROT)

Text on page visible when you Ctrl+A: garzny

Also worth noting on that last page you got to is the page title is another string of 30 characters.

A couple of extra things to note:

element0.htm is a flash page, of all things.

30 (the amount of characters in those two strings) is divisible by three, making them possible ascii transpositions.

I see you're using octal format on the long string of numbers...the problem is, octal numbers don't have the digits 8 or 9. (See? My data processing class taught me *something*.)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Instead, try using normal numbering, but *subtract* eight. This gives us the string:

104 097 118 101 032 121 111 117 032 109 101 116 032 119 117 110 100 101 114 063 032 115 104 101 032 108 105 107 101 115 032 109 117 115 105 099 046 032 100 111 110 039 116 032 102 111 114 103 101 116 032 116 104 101 032 122 101 114 111

Which translates to:
have you met wunder? she likes music. don't forget the zero

I can't *quite* make it parse just yet - Google's not quite as helpful when relying on Germany for information, and it appears the singer is German.

Oh, and personal note: figuring out substitution cyphering on ascii, with all the extra characters it entails, is gonna be nasty.

She likes music. Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It sounds like it was made from a MIDI of the tune from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", with percussion tonal beat set to "do". The tune comes up in my XMMS player as "wunder - cq cq cq".

I didn't actually think that was a viable way of solving it, only tried it because nothing else was working and we haven't gotten anywhere with numbers. And posting in here's like talking to myself.... Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The mp3 is Morse Code and I didn't get much out of it except that it starts with the same 4 letters that come up when the player shows the title (cqcq)...so it's in code.

A couple of e-mails:

First, there was an e-mail on Friday that said:

Quote:
Congratulations on getting through the preliminary phase of DaemonWorks! The next phase is now open, try your final password again.

Which, of course, Caterpillar did long before I checked my e-mail. ^_^;; This does lead me to speculate we were just supposed to provide feedback to the PM in the text box of smiley.php.

Anyway, we have a new e-mail today of more importance:
Quote:
From: vis@chaoseed.com
To: neckert@buckeye-express.com
Subject: there is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path.
Date: Wed, 17 Nov 2004 12:30 -0800

bpqvs nwz gwczamtn

nwttwe bpm bziqt

zmtmdizb pkim zwn bvmzmnnql aq pbix mpb

"nwttwe" could translate as "better"...that's all that jumps out at me, though.

How come I never get any mail?

Crying or Very sad

First two lines are:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Think For Yourself
Follow The Trail

Last one doesn't hold the same pattern.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's backwards:
The Path Is Different For Each Traveler

Not sure if it's new or I missed it, but at gi0.htm this is the page title:

tdrsttedruexslleoaorsiireteads

Again 30 chars. (the same as the alt name of earth0.png and some text in the SC)

tdrsttedruexslleoaorsiireteads
hohnyonfytbitloduntotsvdssmroi
eoaoepeoohosicsycncshreonefeet

Solve:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Reading top to bottom, left column to right:

The Door Has Not Yet Opened
For You The Box Is Still Closed
You Cannot Cross This River
Doesn't Seem Fare Does It

Read that way it looks likes a wall, but read this way it looks like we just haven't figured some pieces out yet:

The Door Has Not Yet Opened For You
The Box Is Still Closed
You Cannot Cross This River
Doesn't Seem Fare Does It

Fare? Spelling error or clue?

The SC for in8.htm has been updated:
<!--p'sprl'itw'mpslz-->
<!--q(tqsm(jux(nqtm{-->
<!--r)urtn)kvy)orun|-->

Which still says:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I like bmp file, only thefirst has a plural "files"

Maybe this is a clue to solve the numbers present in the same SC?
211244242239238231160225243

The three lines above are ROTed in descending order (19/18/17)...??
