Now I'm hoping this guy is actually in on all of this, because if not, then sh*t. Even though there's nothing terribly revealing on his questionnaire, this feels... wrong and unfair. Granted, this is the first ARG that I've been "involved" with, and I don't know if this kind of mess with privacy often occurs with them, and mostly the problem arises from that guy having his Reddit account and his real name linked to other stuff he's put up elsewhere... not that the ARG people should've done that at all, though.

 		Found something in TV Spot #8
This is my first time posting on unfiction, so hopefully I do this right (and forgive me if I don't). I was reading through this thread after finding out it existed via Reddit and watching the videos as I went. I noticed some binary in #8 that no one else mentioned. Me and a friend, CharlotteRibbon, translated it after awhile and found the message 'The tribute has been chosen.' Not that relevant anymore, but it might have been interesting before the announcement video. Also definitely points to something bad happening to the winner. Added the screenshot I messed with until the binary was easier to work with. If anyone's interested, this shows at 19 seconds in.

Also, that weird bit in the image is just the last line of binary. It got cut off in the image I was working with, so I just stuck it to the side.

 		GM Juice Label
I was looking thru the SpecOrg website and at the picture of the GM juice for various clues, and noticed some odd stuff.

The first being, why is there a no handicapped symbol? Is that found on any other food product, and I just haven't seen it? Is it maybe a clue that this stuff isn't safe if you have other health problems?

Second, I was looking at the vitamins that they promote, vitamins A, B-12, and D. I don't know a lot about biology like this, but from what I could understand (https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/list-all/) , vitamin A supports cell growth, and is critical in the formation of organs. Vitamin B-12 is necessary for blood cell formation, as well as DNA, RNA, and hormones. Vitamin D is needed for bone growth, cell growth and boosts the immune system.

Just thinking that it might make sense for GM juice to stand for Genetic Modification juice, like others have said. I would appreciate if anyone more knowledgeable could confirm this, or dismiss their choice of vitamins as arbitrary. (Edit - Just realized that if this theory is true, that non GMO sticker must be a joke, lol (Woah, edit part 2, is the butterfly on the GMO sticker the same as in the maintenance vid?))

Dunno if I'm allowed to say this since I still feel new here myself, but welcome aboard! Very Happy

I actually either hadn't noticed or just never saw anyone mention the binary, but apparently on the subreddit people had found that one out and it just wasn't posted over here. Still a good find though!

And oh man that no handicapped symbol. I forgot about that. I have no idea if anyone mentioned that anywhere, but it's hilarious. It's also definitely not a label used on food/drink products, unless I'm seriously mistaken. I don't know enough to comment on the vitamins, although the highlighted 20 and 16 may have been related to the year being 2016. The butterfly idea is an interesting connection and could be true, though I'm thinking it might be coincidence. That's the Non-GMO Project's label in real life, and in the maintenance uploads the butterfly seemed to refer to metamorphosis/"Making a Better You".

Sorry if I'm being ridiculous and in need of more sleep, but a silly thought just occurred to me: maybe they're not lying about it being GMO-free! Maybe it's just "GM" and there is no "organism" involved... somehow...

There's no reason to think that this mixture of added vitamins is odd. all perfectly normal ones found in your breakfast cereals.

One thing that is curios if nothing more - these are 'fruit' juices, vitamin C - Ascorbic Acid is not listed.

This is odd becasue
1 , fruit tends to contain an abundance of this.
2, its a natural preservative, an antioxident, this great for food production as they make the product last longer by adding in a GOOD ingredient!
3, very welcome in human food. Vit C is a big part in an active immune sytem......



Perhaps a fully active immune system will inhibit the alterations caused by GM juice?

With regard to the winners med file, is there anything there that runs along with this Vit C missing thing? does he get a lot of colds? Scurvy, Gaut, and other problems are all caused by a lack of vits n mins.



this one is more fyi than a major post, but if anyone has any thoughts.

 		The guy's GOTTA be in on it. I mean, his account seems fairly unusued on Reddit, and Reddit itself is an in-game website, unlike Unforum. I can't imagine anyone running an ARG leaving themselves open for legal liability, and publishing what they did technically would leave them liable.

Beyond that, his medical records are really REALLY squeaky clean...

But then again, I don't know what else to do in game at the moment.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I just mean the word choice itself. 'Tribute' isn't really a safe way to talk about a person, even compared to the sketchy title of 'Chosen One', which I believe SpecOrg also uses. Tribute seems to indicate some sort of sacrifice.

I wondered if there was something specific that made you say that bit.

The word 'Tribute' sounds very ominous to me as well. When you said also, I figured I may have missed a bit that was separate.

But I think you ment that the word 'Tribute' alone is making you feel creeped - yea, me too.



Seeing as I'm here and in a typing mood...

it may be worth noting the original meaning and etymology of the word, so here it is...

Late Middle English (in sense 2): from Latin tributum, neuter past participle (used as a noun) of tribuere 'assign' (originally 'divide between tribes'), from tribus 'tribe'.


'The Tribe has been chosen'

If that's a parrallel meaning that is worth considering, it's not a totally weird one for this game so far.

I'd want the medical records of the guy I was going to run a 'Moonraker / Genesis' project on.


the other meaning 'assign' in context speaks for itself. It takes the presumptive joy away from the usual meaning of the word 'Tribute' , but again in this game just fits fine.

So do you guys think this means something will be happening in the near future? I'd guess it'll be coming indirectly just from the phrasing, maybe from gwhitehurst. It feels like it's been weirdly silent the past few days after the commotion with the lottery winner, until this tweet, and it kind of feels ominous.

I keep an eye on SpecOrg's YouTube and Twitter, and check the reddit occasionally, and I'm curious if there's anything else you guys keep track of.

Uh, also looking back, hasn't it been awhile since we've heard from gwhitehurst? It looks like it's been a few days since his last post on reddit but wouldn't he be pretty active trying to figure out what's going on? And it looks like his last few posts are just him saying he wasn't at all okay with what was happening. Maybe he's already on that trip.

 		I sent an email to them just to see if they're going to replace Whitehurst or not. I don't except them to respond but Whitehurst suggested we email them so I did.

 		After looking over all the controversy, I'm prettty sure that gwhitehurst is a new character for this, used to build tension and interact with the player characters. Here's why:

Reddit was how we met with our last protagonist, remember? There was a QR code in one of the videos, which led to this:

And we communicated with him through Reddit as well. It's been an "in-game" site from the start. Gwitehurst has also been only communicating with us through reddit so far, and hasn't come to places like Unforum, which are supposed to be "out-of-game". Initially, I got confused because it was the first time I've seen someone who could be in-game acknowledge things like NightMind or Unforum, which treat things like Spectacular Organic like it's a sort of game. That threw me, since usually they don't acknowledge such things. They're not supposed to "Exist" in their universe.

But note that he hasn't posted here, and probably won't post here. If he does, I'll be the first to admit that I'm wrong. But he hasn't and it's unlikely he will.

In addition to that, it's worth nothing that despite being encouraged by several redditors, including myself, to consult with police or legal sources to examine his options, Gwitehurst hasn't ever replied to any such comments. Not even a "I don't think they could help me with this" or a "I already did." He's never acknowledged the possibility, despite it being a logical first move when you're concerned about possibly being abducted or attacked by a hostile entity. And also, Gwitehurst's protests are only over Reddit. If I were trying to spread awareness of something like this, I'd be proclaiming it everywhere I could, trying to warn people. This is just enough fuss to ruffle some feathers, but not enough to make it seem like a legitimate protest.

The Puppetmaster is using Gwitehurst to build tension by trying to blur the line between what IS part of the game and what ISN'T. Making it seem like Spectacular Organic is coming after an ARG player is their way of trying to convince us that no one's safe. Also, having the person refuse to participate after being chosen, and then made to participate anyway is a perfect way of building Spectacular Organic's infamy and visable "threat". It makes it feel personal. It makes us worry that one of us might be next.

Granted, I still COULD be wrong. But this is all mindfuckery that I'd expect from ARGs. I mean, it's still nowhere near as messed up as some of the stuff I've seen from other NightMind videos...
