But then you've gotta take the time to charge it up for the next guy, who is running up behind you ready to kill you. I know the weapon is effective, but is it efficient enough to be able to do back to back kills within seconds of each other?

I've found dual wield pistols rock at close range, dual plasma rifles, and dual smg..as well as shotgun. Some of these you need to be specific where you aim but they are effective.

I'm sure we'll have some time during a training session to be a target dummy so we can see the effectiveness of each weapon/weapon combo.

See you all later

Well, you can walk around with the plasma pistol charged everytime. And since the charged shot follows the target makes it even easier to hit.

If you're facing 2 enemies and both are shooting you, you might have some problems to kill them both, but that's probably true no matter what other weapons you're dual wielding. No matter which combo you have from pistol/plasma rifle/SMG, you'll still have a hard time to kill 2 guys shooting you without reloading/overheating your guns. If you're really good at head shots, you can kill somebody with 1 overcharged shot and 1 pistol shot ...

Now I agree that when there are 2 guys shooting each other and you go for the double kill, the dual SMG's or Plasma Rifles are the way to go.

Not on XBL yet. I have to somehow get an ethernet cable up the ductwork into my room (the router's in the basement).
You could get a wireless game adapter. Amazon has a LinkSys model for $50 after rebate. The Xbox's network connector is just standard Ethernet, so you could just use a wireless repeater, which would allow you to plug-in other ethernet devices. You can get a D-Link wireless repeater for $30 shipped. Of course, you may not have the required wireless access point in the basement, but you could certainly pick up a wireless router for under $30 shipped, these days. At the cost of a wireless access point and a repeater, you may just want to run a cable up from the basement.

Here's another thought: Your PC is probably connected to the broadband-in-the-basement already, somehow. How far is your PC from your Xbox? If they are reasonable close together, stick another network card in your PC and run a cable over to the Xbox. Then, run a routing program on your PC. In Windows, it's built-in: just run "Internet Connection Sharing". This solution is really cheap, since you can get network cards cheaper than long Ethernet cables.

Another Good One

Another good combo is dual needler's. Yeah, they were weak in the first Halo, but they have drastically improved. I believe one clip off of one needler will take a person down, so two needlers is just that much better.

I also personally love to plasma rifles, or an energy sword.

Dual needlers is good in certain situations. If your target is moving sideways, you're gonna miss a lot! If your target keeps moving backwards, then you'll kill him really fast! I remember that game we had on Beaver Creek that was a big pink fest, with needlers flying everywhere! Dual needlers were not that much effective in that game ...

Sat is a very expensive form of broadband. It has some great UL/DL speeds, but seriously... $600. I would suggest you call your cable company, and see if they offer high speed internet.

Your phone company is going to offer you DSL if it is available in your area, and although it is a good form of broadband, Cable is faster, and they cost about the same.

I've heard a lot of bad things about satellite for online gaming. Lots of lag/latency problems.

And the cable/DSL speed thing is a misnomer as well. It used to be that way, but no longer. We have both (we don't pay for either Twisted Evil ). Dane games on the cable, I game on the DSL. On cable we get 2 Mbps download and 384 kbps upload. On DSL we get 3 Mbps download and 756 kbps upload. The upload speed is important for hosting games. We could never host with the cable, but don't have any problems with DSL. If we were paying for it, it would cost $45/month for cable and $35/month for DSL.

Alot of that depends on area too... although I do agree with you, DSL can be better than cable, but that depends on what package you want to take. I was speaking for the standard DSL package that is offered by SBC. Also cable can take a dive depending on how many people in your area are using cable... so that is something that has to be considered as well. Regardless, it's all circumstantial depending on who is offering service, and what packages you take. And base price for DSL/Cable is the same here, $30, but that doesn't include the basic cable you need, or the basic phone line you need. Not an important conversation, but fun to discuss... btw... I want free broadband... hook me up? Twisted Evil

in a nutshell - research the broadband options in your area and find out which is better there. You'll get people on both sides saying on is better than the other - and they may both be correct... too many localized factors involved in deciding which is the better overall service...

personally, I'll be upgrading my cable connection to ultra very soon to get 5Mbps down and 800Kbps up... I've found rogers internet in my area to be very reliable, accessible, and speedy... the tech support sucks, but I rarely need it anyway Smile

so really, check your local providers, see if you can check with local consumers as well... guage which is better in your area.

another ISP option is to check if any of your neighbors are running unencrypted wireless connections Very Happy

I do pay for my own T1 access, but my laptop also picks up 3 wireless connections I could pick from if I wanted.

Now, last night, disappointingly, many Beekeepers were involved in games outside the family, so I went and followed suit, indulging in a few quick rumbles in the Pit before returning to Campaign mode to get past one of the hardest parts of the game.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Don't you just hate it when two Brutes charge down a ramp at you while fifty Grunts swarm around their ankles? Then you flee past them into a big room with more Covies than you can shake a stick at, including two MORE Brutes, and all four of them want your flesh?

But anyways, I only played two games last night, but I was really proud of the last one. I think that having a shiny triple-kill medal is something worth loving, and coming in second to the guy who only used the Energy Sword all match long is not bad, I think. (The 8 medals for Bash Kills tips anyone off, but the Game Viewer really shows his stuff.)

I don't think I have posted here yet, but I will now. My gamertag is same as here, l0rd0fm0rgul. I think I am pretty good at Halo, so I might be able to help out with the training, but I have to work tonight until about 8:30 (possibly later, since I am getting there late, I will find out soon) central time. I can play tomorrow for the training, but I don't know if the spots are all full yet. You can check out my stats here, and decide if you think I am good or not. The only mode I'm not very good in is team skirmish, I always get paired up with people who don't know how to play team games. Most of my finishes are in the top 3 or so, except on Waterworks. I suck on that map. Does anyone else hat it as much as I do? I have never gotten anything worse than 5th on any level except waterworks. We either need to practice on that level a lot, or somehow delete it from the game.
