Equation and Carta Blanca Okay so I have completed Da Vinci's Secret 100% a while back. I have obtained scrolls from puzzles 1-5. however I can use a little further assistance.
I could use some additional guidance on solving the 'Riddle' for the equation puzzle, and how to use the piece from Da Vinci's secret in respect to the puzzle.
Also any guidance on opening Carta Blanca, I have tried twisting, turning, spinning etc all to no avail, any thoughts I have missed???
Thanks

Carta Blanca Puzzle Solution Do not despair, the puzzle is solvable without a drill and a saw ... The puzzle is solvable - although my version had no scroll inside. I think the guy that sold it took it out to make sure I didn't destroy the box to get to the scroll. Kind of like grade school where there are no points for the answer and you have to explain how you did it ... so, I will give him a call after Christmas and make him give up the scroll. I can't in good faith give out the answer as the solution is quite ingenious. But here is a hint that should help get you on the right path:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As mentioned in another post, you unlock the top by moving the wooden block that keeps it place ... the key is to understand what is the mechanism that holds the wooden block in place. There are two popular sayings in the us when we move our clocks forward and backward based on daylight svaings time. Think about these phrases and you may understand the mechanism ... this is the first step.

Thanks for the tips Gotta say thanks for the tips.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Your tip you gave concerning daylight savings, and the sayings that go with them in the US, I am guessing you mean 'Spring forward, Fall back.' Let me know if I am wrong please. Now I just need to think it over and see how to apply that. Thank again.

On the right track You are on the right track... Remember, the hint was regarding the mechanism - not directly how to open the box ...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The next sentence could be confusing, but it is entirely true. I've played around with the box some more and confirmed there are two diametrically opposed solutions. While it may go without saying, physics concepts will play a key in getting the 'lock' to allow the wooden block to move and the top to slide out.

I try, and try and try again and again, without success. Perhaps is it due to my bad English which does not help me to understand your hints perfectly.
Really, any additional help will be appreciated.

Carta Blanca Spoiler SPOILER ****************SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER********************
This is the cube in the loaded position with the spring. The starting point.
This is the inside of the box with all the pieces.
This is a close up view of the pieces.
This is a close up of the spring mechanism.
I still cannot figure out how to get the cube out of position so that it opens. any help would be great. thanks.

I've made a lot of wooden puzzlebox mechanisms like this.
The spring is bimetallic so a little warm air from say, a hair dryer, blown into the holes would cause it to rotate counterclockwise.
I can't imagine being frustrated enough with something like this to warrant taking a saw to it, though.

The real solution ... ... is not cutting it in half wow - desperate measures for a desperate person ... and you still don't have the answer after cutting it in half - now that in and of itself made my day. I still won't tell you the answer, but I will tell you how to open it without sawing it in half ...

Bake at 200 degrees for 7 minutes ... or put it in the freezer for an hour or so.

Yeah or you buy it and get it shipped to you via air courier. Then when you get it, it's already open as the aircrafts hold was so cold!!!
I open the packaging and the lid fell off! I thought "hmm that was easy"
How can I reset it?
The cube has fallen behind the spring trigger any idea how to get it back in place?
Cheers,

Hum I try to bake like you said Puzzumba, and with a hair dryer, and nothing, the cube don't move and I'm desperate too!

For those who can't open it using the previous spoiled method, here's what you need to do:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Get a sturdy wire like a strong paperclip or clothes hanger and shove it up hole #3 in any of the above pictures. Use the hook to pull the coil mechanism back. The next step it to get one face of the cube flush with the hole, allowing the lid to slide out. Jostle the box toward the broad side with the smooth surface until the cube is flush with that side (this will be guess work since you can't see if you've done it or not) then tilt the box mechanism side down and then jostle it again until the cube is out of the way (again more guess work since you can't see that, either). Then slide the lid right off! Basically, you're trying to get the cube to align with the bottom left corner of the block with the hole in it. You won't be able to get the cube over the coil because a false ceiling will prevent that. That hole up there is where the false ceiling crews into the box, so imagine a tile there, preventing the cube from going where it shouldn't.

paswood anyone here got the password for this thing yet. i found the map on the boxes but apparently the name i enter is incorrect or mispelled(i'll take the spoiler rollover or a PM) i have also thought about the hairdryer option but am nervous about damaging the thing. i would like confirmation that this method works along with how long i should hold it there.

Carta Blanca solution
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Placing the box in the refrigerator for one hour worked for me. The lid slid open 3/8". This was enough for the paper clue to slip out. This eliminate the problem of how to reset the spring and cube.
