[META] For your consideration

Many thanks to those who submitted category proposals. Based on the responses I have received, nominations are now open in the following categories for the First (and presumably Last Crying or Very sad ) Annual I LOVE BEES Awards:

Game Awards, Creators
    Best Voice Acting
Best Moment in Recorded .wav File
    Best Moment in Live Call
    Happiest Game Moment
    Most Traumatic Game Moment
    Best Puzzle
    Worst Puzzle

Game Awards, Players
    Best Puzzler
    Best Axon Hunter
    Best Recruiter
    Best Moment in Live Call

Forum Awards
    Best Speculation (True)
    Best Speculation (Not True)
    Best Speculator
    Wildest Speculation
    Wildest Speculator
    Worst Trout
    Master Trout Ninja
    Most Patient Explainer
    Most Likely to Thread-Jack
    Favorite Poll
    Favorite Pollster

Meta Awards
    Best Technical Support
    Most Obsessed Beekeeper
Most Likely to Get Dumped/Flunk Out of School/Lose Job/Get Divorced as a Direct Result of ILB
    All-Around Favorite Beekeeper

Send me your nominations by PM only. In a couple of weeks, I will post the top nominees in each category, and voting will commence. Depending on the number of nominations, not every category will end up in the final award ceremony. Post any questions here.

Re: [META] For your consideration

Some questions already:

(1) Yes, you can submit more than one nomination per category. Try not to submit more than five, though.
(2) "Best Technical Support" is meant to encompass helpful OOG resources, like -- well, I don't want to give any examples, for fear of influencing the voting, but I'll bet you can think of one or two non-PM sites that you found extremely useful in the course of ILB. (Or look here for some of them.)
(3) No, Google is not eligible for the "Best Technical Support" award. Mr. Green
(4) If a category seems ambiguous -- say, you can't tell whether to nominate a post or the poster -- submit either or both, as you wish. If the nominations warrant it, I will split the category before final voting.
(5) Yes, you may nominate yourself. I won't tell.
(6) There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Rule 6.
(7) I'd really rather not accept new categories at this stage, but if enough people want 'em, I'll add 'em, so go ahead and send 'em if you want.

Arbitrarily deciding that the deadline for nominations will be 23:59:59 (PST) on Monday, November 29, 2004. To everyone in the States, have a happy Thanksgiving!

Vote for me, H. Ross Perot as your senior vice, I mean, what ever category you want me to be in.

Hi Shad0,
I was just wondering if this is a-gonna happen. If your response was not spectacular, perhaps you could move it to General Updates (or even the Halo 2 section, where not all threads are Halo 2 related). These two sections seem to be the ones people are still checking with any regularity.

Maybe the magical time has passed for it. I hope not. But what do I know? I know everything, except for all the things I do not know.

You may not believe it, but by a strange coincidence I was actually working on this Sunday evening -- and it occurs to me that weephun can confirm this, as I had to PM him a question about one of his nominations. Anyway, I expect to have the final voting list up before the end of the week.

(And thanks for the bump! Mr. Green )

I trust you, Shad0. I need no confirmation.

(psst, thanks weephun--actually I was questioning Shad0's veracity)

I KNEW IT! Mr. Green

Anyway, nominations are up.

(Gee, I wonder what it means when even weephun -- ILB's original acknowledged in-game "traitor" -- is now more trustworthy than I am?)

You really need to work on your sales pitch, then, Shad0. Weephun's been so good with his "but it was gonna happen eventually" line that everyones forgotten what the big hoo-hah was all about. Wink
