I just wanted to say that I am now the proud owner of Halo 2: Limited Collector's Edition.

He has fought his way through trillions of miles of space...

The cute girl cashier at EB gave me her cool Halo 2 pin, too. It was like sex.

Speaking of which, you don't know what it is to be alive until you've played Halo 2 in 16:9 with 480p resolution, like I'm doing now at my house.

God bless Bungie.

I got Halo 2 too. I mean too. I mean, as well.

I went to Japanese class and there was a guy there who had been with us in the very first round of axon hunting... I went and showed him my copy, that I had picked up just before Japanese class, and he said, "wow, I got mine at midnight, when did you get yours?" and I said this morning, just before class, and he said "Dude, so you haven't PLAYED it yet?!"

I wanted to bash his head in and say "NO! I'M IN JAPANESE CLASS!" but upon realizing that my Halo 2 box is not, in fact, a Covenant beam sword and will probably break faster than an ILB DVD in the hands of a disgruntled Halo-loving tyke if I bash it over my fellow classmate's head, I took a few deep breaths and assured him I would play it when I got home.

(The freakin' shrinkwrap was still on. Oh, and getting the damn shrinkwrap off was nigh impossible. If my mom hadn't left her sewing kit out on the coffee table, I still would not have breached the inner sanctum of the DVD case. I was, you know, trying to cut the shrinkwrap, on Legendary, with only an assault rifle and dual-wielded tweezers.)

After class, I went then I went home, picked up some soda (bad for me) and did some homework (bad for me). At some point I was able to immerse myself in Halo-ey goodness. Ahhhh. Halo.

Then suddenly I realized I had to go to school the next day. Awww man!

(Oh, and by the way
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's a first-person shooter.)

It's... a much different experience than the first Halo. Much less sneaking around, more run-and-gun, lay-down-supressing-fire type stuff. Dual plasma rifles (esp. the Brute ones) own Covenant and mechanical things, so I end up using them a lot, despite the fact that I avoided the P.R. at all costs in H1. And the pistols (both kinds) kinda suck now.

Slops: The game has a bad tendency to redraw some of the textures at awkward times, like when you're running towards them from 10 ft. away. The insides of the humans' mouths don't move enough, so it looks like people are talking through clenched teeth. A couple fall-through-the-floor glitches. Sometimes difficult to tell where you're supposed to be going. Meele attacks seem less smooth. More than occasional "wtf!? I was at full heath and I just *died*?" moments, especially when [YOU KNOW WHO] are involved.

Props: Much more continuous feel than the first one, where the battles were a bit too artificially compartmentalized. MUCH smarter enemies. (Hunters will actually coordinate, which can be rather difficult to deal with on narrow bridges.) Ridiculously beautiful cinematography. Someone in level design decided they couldn't let Cyan have all the fun making gorgeous environments. More vehicles and weapons, none of which are broken. SHEER AWSOMENESS.

Edit: Okay, the ending was REALLY aprupt. Either there's more forthcoming over Live, or Halo 3 had better be coming rather soon.

(chirp chirp)

Ummm, does anybody still want to do the afterparty? I want to reach a consensus on how we should do it, but in order to do that we need another round of responses.

Personally, I would prefer to have it in a beekeeper's living room or thereabouts, mainly because of cost issues (I don't know if Feros is generous enough to give us a free ride, and I wouldn't blame him), and the issue of getting us all to Vancouver, and the general homeliness of having it in one of our homes or nearby.

However, I am absolutely willing to cave in on this point, and/or pitch in some money to buy drinks/group ticket.

Also, Ouro, where are you? Sorry I forgot you on the list.... you're totally invited too...

(Edit: I just wanted to note that I am free pretty much every upcoming weekend, but my one obligation is that the Nintendo DS comes out on Sunday the 21st, and I want to be there when the shop opens. But that's not a big deal, of course.)

So like, Halo 2 on legendary is hard and stuff. I never had this hard a time in Halo on legendary. It doesn't help that they CLUMP LIKE FORTY DAMN ELITES IN ONE SECTION AT A TIME!!@# Geezuz. You really have to stick those mofos with the plasma grenades if you want to get anywhere.

I'm currently at level ranking 5 on LIVE! (Edit- I'm now ranked level 7) There's some pretty hardcore dudes online, I'm kinda happy. Nothing's more satisfying than hitting a guy mid-air with a Banshee going turbo and watching their lifeless body sail helplessly like a baby birdie.

When it comes to a LAN though, I'm not sure about how I'd want to go about doing it. At my place there's really not enough room for a good-sized LAN that would include all of us, despite my mondo TV. Even split-screen down the middle of the big 16:9 is kinda lame because you really can't see all the action you could normally. Being on a limited budget, like I've said, I would really prefer to not have to drive up to Vancouver and spend 10 bucks when I've already got my Xbox and Halo 2 right here. I guess we could carpool, but still.

Maybe there's some kinda big room or garage-type deal that we could rent for a night or something? We could all chip in on the cost of the place and the cost for pizza, etc. I'd be fine doing that as long as it wasn't too expensive. It'd be easier for me to haul a TV and my Xbox some place rather than driving up to Vancouver. Then again I don't know how much that would cost.

In any case, I'm still up for a party whenever. We don't even have to play Halo, we could just go have dinner someplace I guess.
