a couple extra things:
Pg 12 - The mounds the notebook writer is referring to are the Monk Mounds in Cahokia, IL (also referred to on pg 13). He took the I-70 to the 55 then off exit #24.

What I've started to do is map out the trip that this person took. I work for CAA (Canadian version of triple A) and have access to every state, and town map in North America including little side roads and exit numbers (which I notice this person is using frequently). I don't know if it'll come up with anything important, but I've got the weekend and it should give me something to do... Smile If anyone who lives close to some of the landmarks or towns being referred to has any extra info that hasn't been posted it might help a bit.

New Mail and I know the area where this guy ended up:-)

Hello everyone Very Happy

I finally took a break from greywethers and looked at the rest of the notebook pages. And to my suprise, on page 21, I see 695 and Glen Burnie. I couldn't breathe. From my house, I can see the 695 beltway. (I have to put up with the traffic sounds all the time). Then I saw Glen Burnie. Which is where my husbands house is (he rents, we do live together Very Happy ). Then I see Rt 70, and Red Lion. Red Lion is in PA. Then he mentions 72 and 642, both are routes in PA, but near Lancaster.

But then on page 22, he mentions I95, (exit) #16 3 and then merges 495 head to. 495 is the Capitol Beltway which goes around DC.
Then he writes 95N, then it's #11 (the exit) to JTP (Jersey Turnpike), Del Mem Bridge (Deleware Memorial Bridge). Then 295, is written near JTP. That is another freeway once you get into PA. But it's near Philly.

After page 22, there are no more directions. If anyone sees anything else, please let me know. I'm going to go driving tomorrow to see what I can find. Dale keeps mentioning that someone needs to go and find the disc. Which brings me to the newest letter from Dale:

Ursulla:
I managed to get the ClueSearch site fixed today. Seems it had some problems in
its usual scanning and sorting of information, but I think I've got it worked
out now.
Wes is due back in town tomorrow and both Sam and I are anxious to get with Wes
face-to-face and determine once and for all if this is really him. I'm also
very anxious to hear or see whatever he's discovered on his little trip.
Speaking of trips, I managed to make some more progress on the disc notebook.
Besides the information I provided yesterday, I've been looking at the numbered
triangles that are on the final page of the notebook. As you know, nine of them
are left visible when you fold the page over as I described. Thinking that the
strange symbols on each page have to have some meaning, I pulled out the ones
on the pages marked with the nine numbered triangles. At first they didn't make
much sense until I noticed that there were basically three sets of three
different types of symbols. Take a look at the symbols on the pages marked with
the triangles left showing. Three of them have markings near the bottom of the
individual squares, three of them have symbols in both the bottom and top areas
of the square, and the remaining three have markings only in the top area. This
led me to believe that we were dealing with three rows of symbols, so I
assembled them accordingly. After trying to match up the markings in any way I
could, here's what I came up with:

http://www.synthasia.com/notebooknotes4.htm

There appears to be numbers hidden in the strange square symbols. Now if we
only knew what they meant. We need to get someone on the road to finding this
disc as soon as we can.
I'm working on the greywethers log-in puzzle right now too. I think I may be on
to something but I'll fill you in once I'm sure.
Thanks for your help through all of this. I can't shake this feeling that we
are on the verge of figuring out what's really going on here.

Dale

Location of disc

Myss, don't go driving unless you're prepared to go to Missouri.

The most westerly place that Discman visited was the University of Missouri at Rolla, Missouri. They have a replica of Stonehenge there. Maggiemae speced yesteday that that the triangle numbers might be longitude and latitude. When Dale sent his numbers to us, 37 57 and 91 47, Maggie looked up the longitude/latitude for Rolla. It's a perfect match on most sites....close enough since we don't have the seconds. I'd say it's a safe bet the disc is in Rolla Missouri, hidden in the stonehenge there.

A link to a reverse longitude/latitude site. Just enter the city and state ( Rolla Missouri).

The information that led to UMR can be found on page 14 of the notebook. This is the site I found and posted previously

Thanks Dash Very Happy I sent an email to Dale letting him know what I saw. So I was going to wait for his reply anyway. (got a little excited when I was typing). I like the Rolla spec.
Wonder why he wrote down the highways so close to my house? Anyone find a connection between them and Missouri?

location of the disc?

I talked to a friend who used to go to UMR in Rolla, MO. Many of the buildings at UMR are made out of red brick ("red hued wall" in the poem). I also found a detailed campus map:

http://www.umr.edu/uploads/media/campusmaphighres_01.jpg

So it seems to me that, according to the directions, you need to go to the Stonehenge site at UMR, enter from the east, find the center, face south (McNutt Hall is just south of Stonehenge), lay down toward McNutt hall and stretch out your hand. That should get you very close to where the disc is.

Don't know if anyone has seen this, but "discman" mentions Figure 8!, analemma,3 rngs, outer-4-"pole" stores and trilithon.

The UMR site mentions the Figure 8. Go to http://web.umr.edu/~stonehen/, then go to "Frequently asked questions", then click on "What is the analemma and how does it work?".

What is the analemma and how does it work?
An elongated figure 8 has been carved into the faces of the two central stones. This line reflects the path that the sun's image sweeps out a mid-day over the course of the year. The image is projected through a small hole set in a brass plate under the lintel of the south trilithon.
